Nessie when I was pregnant I did see the dr- because thats how it worked in my area. You couldnt see the midwife until you had seen them - however, all she did was take my blood pressure and tell me the stuff I should and shouldnt eat and asked for my LMP. Then told me the midwife would contact me. They will then tell you what appts you need to go to.

So if your dr is referring you to the midwife just do that. The dr really wont tell you anything you cant find out already in regards to what you can and cant do.

    Thanks,

I haven't spoken to a doctor - it was the receptionist that said there was no point (she said to DH after i had already booked appointment)

I will go - just to ask about the slimming world/Zumba - surely they would be able to tell me that much!

Thanks Abis - great info. I'm going to call the Drs and tell them I'll be nearly 9 weeks by the MW appt, and not nearly 7!

I'm in Berkshire and saw my doctor first as I was concerned I'd been very drunk before finding out! In the end he spent 20 minutes answering questions from us :) worth it to put my mind at rest.

Next was the 1hr midwife appointment - lots of questions, bloods, urine and then told to book my scan myself (told a date and time to ring). So I am all booked for a scan at 12weeks on Feb 8th - very exciting!

I wish there was more I can do... But I'm not buying anything until I've got my scan photos :)

Good luck to all those booking appointments and waiting... It's the waiting which is hardest. (Although severe morning sickness is a close competitor - I'm into my 4th week off with it!).
If you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!
  • Well I am 7 Wks +1 today and currently thinking I am not pregnant!!! Stomach seems to have gone down, I havent stopped eating for the last week until today!!! To the person who mentioned the anti climax after the BFP... yes feeling it well an truly!!! Too early to buy anything or do anything baby related. Starting to run out of excuses why I am not drinking.... Have an engagement meal on Saturday, so have to make my excuses why I am not drinking!!! Luckily a lot of the going out is with different groups!!!

I will be an older mum as well 36... is that an old mum???

Still only me and the OH know about the pregency!!! I am too scared to tell anyone at the mo...

Phoned the Hospital, have my booking in and scan at 10 weeks... only 3 weeks!!!

    Hi all,
I was also told it'd be pointless to see my GP. I'm not in with the mw until Feb 21st. Going off my lmp date, I'll be nearly 9 weeks by then!

Is it worth ringing and explaining that? She initially said they want to see me at 7 weeks, but my dates are confusing me (cos I had 34 day cycles). I'm either 4+4 and nearly 8 weeks when I see the MW, or 5+4 and nearly 9 weeks if I go off the LMP date.

Which dates would you use???? I'm so confused!

Still no real symptoms here, apart from an upset-feeling tummy. I'm finding it really hard to believe and keep worrying about it not being real!!

You use the LMP date until your scan when they will in variably change it just for fun :p

Only I know.. and you lot on here know about mine and my stalkers lol.. OH doesn't.. well he hasn't asked! :p His sister asked on Saturday.. so I just lied and said no.. haha! Nosey bint!

Just on the off chance I got the doppler out earlier.. I picked the last 2 up easily from about 8/9 weeks.. using the last bleed dates I would be 5 weeks and pick up nothing.. I found hb immediately.. so I am certain we are looking at 9 weeks today.. and I am enormous, much bigger than last time when I was merely huge :p Maybe I have got the triplets my friend predicted in there lmao!!

How many heartbeats did you pick up ;)

Think I found ds2 at about 9 weeks, you must definitely be further along theres no way you could only be 5, have you made an app with the midwife for your scans etc?

    Welcome Nessie, congratulations :)

Am so tempted to get a doppler, but I don't know if I'd even know if it was a heartbeat or not. I remember at the 16 week appointment and the midwife saying "And there's the heartbeat" and I didn't have a clue what I was listening for :s

Only 3 more sleeps before my scan. It's all I can think about which isn't good as I've got DD's party to organise for Saturday! Better get a food shop ordered with some goodies.

hello ladies especially those who've recently come across from the trying thread, good to see some familiar faces, congrats.

I did another FRER this morning to see if the line was any darker - it was noticeably darker and as dark as the control line which was good to see. I have also become obsessed with countdowntopregnancy.com which is a website you can post your test results on and look at other peoples. Gosh I am gonna miss peeing on a stick now!

Saw a cute baby outfit in boots today and was tempted to buy it - but that may be tempting fate too much - think I'll wait until after my 12 week scan for that.

How's everyone doing? I think a few of those on the TTC thread who were not lucky this month may be finding the chatter of the newly pg girls a bit much so I'm trying not to post too much on that thread now...shame it can't be good news for all.

I think at the hospital they can pick up a hb from 6/7 weeks but with the home doppler its around 10. At 5 weeks they don't have a heart!
  • All's well with nuchal scan - measurements today make me 12+2 with baby being due on 11th August. :j
