No, no pain, in fact today is the first day in ages I haven't had any AF type cramps...0

a small amount of breakthrough spotting around the time your period would have been due is absolutely normal. Unless it becomes actual blood it isn't really much to worry about.
If you have a number for community midwives, usually available online, you could give them a call for reassurance but at 5 weeks a scan would be pretty pointless as there is nothing to see, maybe a sac would be visible but not much else. A lot of places don't scan at all until after 6 weeks.
I had heavy bleeding through several of my pregnancies and the ones I had no bleeding at all were usually the ones that didn't make it.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Back at work today after snow day yesterday so let the teacher I work with know and also my head teacher.
As I work in a special needs school I wanted to let them know of situations I will need to avoid, you just never know. My teacher has been great, a pupil next door was out in the corridor kicking the walls etc and my teacher let me know straight away on which way to avoid walking, so I am pleased I told the people I felt needed to know.
Of course a risk assessment will be done for me now, just hoping they don't move me out of my class.
I rang my dr yesterday and was really surprised, they didn't need to see me until I was 7 weeks, so they've booked me in for the 12th of Feb as rough estimate. I kinda felt just left to get on with it, so the internet has been a great source for finding out stuff.
Though like a few of you said I am finding myself panicking about the worst happening and every time I need the loo I am sooo nervous.
Will enjoy checking in with everyone over the next 9 mths.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -
Thanks for all the advice everyone. Discharge is back to white, so just going to see what happens overnight. If anything else happens I'll give the doctor a call, but as I'm so early on, they prob wont even scan me anyway, so not much they can do. Just keeping my fingers crossed.0

Glad to hear things are getting better now bride2be.
Got my first MW appt today, prepared to be given lots of info! Have decided to leave it as late as possible to tell work about pregnancy as they are putting lots of pressure on about getting things finished that I know won't be as I'll not be staying as long as they think. So hopefully I can get to 16 weeks without showing!0 -
Good luck for your first MW appointment noday NoAngel. Be prepared for loads of questions and paperwork!
I've got my booking in appointment on Friday too.
I don't know how much longer I'm going to be able to keep my pregnancy quiet at work as my stomach is really round already! I know a lot of it is probably bloat, but having had a baby before, apparently it's normal to show earlier.
I'm sure my colleagues at work think I've put on a ton on weight over christmas!Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -
MV, I've read that you show earlier with your second too. As this is my first I'm crossing my fingers for no significant showing for a while, though this is probably slightly ambitious as my work trousers and jeans no longer fasten. I'm determined that its just bloat and that it'll disappear before the bump comes along...!0

Just to play devil's advocate here... if these things they want you to finish are important, then wouldn't it be a kinder and more responsible thing to tell them sooner rather than later so they can arrange for cover/get you some help etc.? It sounds a little like you'll be leaving them in the lurch.

Reading back I realise how it sounds. I definitely won't be leaving them in the lurch, I'm on a training contract and will only be leaving around a month or so earlier than expected.
I've started a research project (really for my own benefit for my training) that's moving very slowly and to be honest, I don't mind whether or not it continues, but I'm not sure what they want me to do with it. Likewise I've got to apply for a final exam, and they think I'm leaving it a little late, so they won't be happy with they realise I'm slicing around a month or so off my expected work time as it is! So I want to apply for the exam and get a date set for it before announcing the pregnancy otherwise my superviser will panic even more!!0
