Hey girls, back again after a little scare this week, started bleeding, not alot but having had previous miscarriages I was a little concerned, went to hospital and they tried to turn me away as im not registered in the area yet as i never got my drs changed from when i lived in london. anyway i demanded someone see me, said it was a poor excuse not to at least examine me, eventually after 4 hrs stuck to the hospital reception i got seen and everything is ok!

and the good news is today my drivers license has finally come through for my new address so now i can actually get registered thank god, no more incidents like that one

Wow how awful for you having to wait all that time but well done for sticking your ground! Glad everything is ok.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

I've booked myself in for a private scan this evening as I'm going abroad next week and would like to know everything is as it should be before going.

Anyone else had a private scan or are you all holding off for the 12 week scan?
  • Good luck for your scan today yumyums.

I've had 2 early scans already, one at 4+5 and one at 5+5 as I had recurrent chemical pregnancies last year, and had a bit of early spotting with this one.

Both scans were fine thank goodness, and so I am now off the 'threatened miscarriage' list and my next scan will be the 12 week one on Feb 12th.

I think the way I am looking at things is, there's nothing I can do to change the outcome of anything at this stage, so having any additional scans booked would just stress e out even more so will just wait for the 12 week one and hope for the best.

  • Oh i didn't know you could get a scan privately, is it done at the regular hospital? Is it very expensive?
Husband has persuaded me not to tell anyone until 12 weeks....i don't think i can keep the mix of excitement and terror in though lol xx

That's great that you're off the threatened mc list MV.

Headinclouds, I'm having it done at a private hospital near me and it costs £99 bit I believe it can be cheaper in other areas. I was worried if I had one scan the temptation would be to have them all the time but I think I'll be ok.

Ours was done at the NHS Hospital but during a privately run session - if that makes sense. It cost us £75 to quote the web site: "You will be scanned by a consultant obstetrician with recognised obstetric scanning expertise and several years experience in fetal medicine".

Not sure where you are based but try googling: pregnancy scan nhs private <yourLocation>

We had ours at 8 weeks and the person doing said you wouldn't have been able to make much out if you'd had it earlier.

There is nowhere here that does private scans so not all areas offer them. There used to be a place offering 20week+ scans for the 4D/gender but it had to be after the NHS anomaly one as the staff were not trained to diagnose problems, but that closed about 2 years ago when I was looking for a dating scan with my youngest.

The nearest place I found was 65 miles away.. adding large fuel costs to the £130 for the scan itself :(

    *must stop lurking* lol

  • Hey just wanted to pop in and say hi been really busy with work and home life so not had much chance to post. Im still quite tired most of the time but no major symptoms apart from that. Only feeling sick when someone has something with a strong smell in the office (coffee, anything fishy or cheesy soup warmed in the microwave)

Im 10+3 today and still no sign of a scan letter, I got quite excited when I got an NHS envelope in the post only to discover it was my exemption certificate for free prescriptions. I dont even know who I should phone to chase an appointment?

Big welcomes and congratulations to the new members of the board wishing you a healthy and happy 9 months.
If at first you dont succeed, try, try again
  • Morning ladies. I have my scan tomorrow - I am so nervous about it I could be sick. I keep dreaming that I am having twin boys then wake up in a sweat wondering where the hell we would put all the children in the house! I am just hoping for a single strong heartbeat tomorrow and I will be happy.

It'll be exciting to see how far on I am as well, symptoms have certainly abated a lot in the last 2 weeks which make me think I am 11+ weeks rather than 9+ but I could be very wrong.

Not looking forward to them trying to get all these blood samples out of me though - I have the most pathetic veins known to man and it is always such a fight and struggle - urgh.

After ringing the midwives and antenatal clinic, we were told to ring 'central appointments' at our hospital. After a bit of faffing they got it sorted.
