The norm does seem to be seen at 8 weeks, but I've seen some where they are apparently combining the booking appointment with the 12 week scan. Dunno if it was someone here or someone on Baby and Bump, but I'm sure I'm not making it up :)

I was back at work today...two things...

I told my boss!! I wasn't going to do, but I've been worrying sick about it and I kinda just blurted it out :o I feel so good to have it out in the open, big weight off my shoulders.

Second, I nearly fainted in one of the lessons :s I had to walk out :s I'm hoping it's just the lesson as it's one where I stand still the most and the room is very warm. The other lessons were fine, but I'm walking round the room more and sitting down or perching on tables.

All in all though I think being back at work is better than being at home. The last couple of weeks have really dragged for me. And I can see the weeks will go much quicker at work.

Another problem is my trousers are too tight, they're too uncomfortable. I honestly don't know what to do. If I get a size 16 they'll be huge and baggy around the bum. It's too early for maternity wear - I already tried some of my old stuff on and it's all a bit baggy around the bum.

Thinking maybe getting a skirt - wonder if I can get one with an elasticated waist!

Use a hair bobble through the loop of your work trousers and loop the end over the button as this will give you a bit more room. Alternatively buy a bump band from mother care.

Maternity trousers are really comfy though. Also, you might find dresses easier to wear at work. I hate things pressing too much on my bump.

You should see your community midwife before your scan as you have a tonne of paperwork to get through. Pages and pages of the stuff!
  • T'was me who had the booking in appt with my scan at 11weeks. Hope everyone is well can't remember who said about af type cramps, i had these for ages from week 5 to 8 and still had a few the odd day, now 15+6. X

Lao - dresses might be an idea. Not sure I own any suitable. I have 2 that fit, but would feel one is a bit short even with leggings for a school and the other low cut - but could try with a vest under and see what that looks like.

I was wondering if I could join you? I'll be 8 weeks on friday.
Welcome, hope the morning sickness eases for you soon.

Don't think the bobble trick would work :( Got trousers with the metal hook things. Hmmm. Would a bump band keep the trousers secure if I just did the zip up and left the metal bits undone? Might be worth trying. I never bothered with a bump band last time. Just left my top button of jeans undone and made sure I wore long t-shirts!

Not sure if the bit about the midwife was aimed at me...but I have done my paperwork (at 8 weeks) :) Just saying that I noticed a couple of people's had been combined at the 12 week scan deliberately.

I had those kind of trousers for work, and I just did the zip up and then used a safety pin to secure any 'flaps' at the top! You can then cover it all with a bump band or wear a slightly longer top. I started wearing maternity work trousers quite early - just got a cheap pair second hand on ebay and was really pleased I did. I'd said I wouldn't get anything until after the scan but I was just so uncomfortable!

Why didn't I think of that?! Thanks that could be a good option for the time being.

Are your trousers smart? What brand are they? The ones I've seen in M&P look too casual, and the ones I have from last time (ebay purchases) again one pair is too scruffy for work and the other makes me sweat buckets! It's like a polyester or something.

Mine are from Next - they were 'new with tags' on ebay so I'm not sure if they are this season or not, but they look smart enough for work - I work in an office but everybody dresses quite 'corporate' and are really comfortable, with a narrow bump band.

I also had my booking appt on the same day as my scan. That was just what got sent out to me, rather than a request on my part.

Thanks for the reassurance about the cramps. They seem to have settled down now, think they're just normal but DH panic every time I move!

How soon have the rest of you noticed that your clothes are getting tight?

About 6 weeks!!! The bloat is amazing, I kinda look pregnant already (or at least I like to think it doesn't just look like I've put on weight over xmas).

First time around I bought bigger jeans at 7 weeks and wore them to 12 weeks before starting in maternity wear.
