Congratulations MQ! :) I too have endometriosis, fibroids & ovarian cysts, but even after loads of warnings from specialists that it could be almost impossible to do naturally, we got our BFP after just a couple of months ntnp! I realise it is very early days though, so I am not counting any chickens just yet!

I was shocked that no one has actually validated my pregnancy yet.... I just told the Dr & she took my word for it!! :) Same with the midwife! I won't have anything medically proven until 12 week scan in February - was not expecting that at all.

I have decided to just try and be as chilled & positive as I can until then. Plus we are not telling a soul until the scan - so am having to act as normally as possible with my family & colleagues, which is almost making things easier!

Can't comment on the clotting I'm afraid - but really hope all is well! Good luck.

Afternoon all. My phone was busy yesterday! I have a booking appointment with midwife a week on Monday, my flu jab this Tues and a dating scan Wed 23rd Jan. My doc also said to go to the chemist for some Healthy Start vitamins - not sure if this is just a Scottish thing or UK wide. I was pleasantly surprised to find they were only £1.25 - I've to take them to 12 weeks and not to take additional folic acid. As I'm not sure of my dates, I could be 12 weeks at my scan so will take then until then and see what the dayes come out at.
Hmmm, looks like they are an NHS thing and available for free for certain people. Never heard of it myself. You'll probably be fine taking them over 12 weeks. Multivitamins for pregnancy are generally good for TTC, all the way through pregnancy and throughout breastfeeding. They have folic acid in.

Still waiting (unpatiently) for my scan date. Should be at the start of Feb.

    Welcome MQ :)

The NHS not checking if your pregnant is normal I think. I've never heard of anyone yet having a pregnancy test if they went to the doctors/midwife and told them they were pregnant. It is weird though, sometimes I wonder if I'm imagining it, but then I remember I haven't had a period now in 8 weeks, so there must be some truth in those tests I took :)

    Thanks everyone :-)

I haven't had any clotting today so hope it continues the same way. I am trying to rest as much as possible. Strangely I don't have any pregnancy symptoms yet which makes me wonder if I am indeed pregnant!!

I am delivering my urine sample on Monday so hopefully I will be meeting the midwife soon. DH also wants to have an early scan done(privately) to confirm it's not an ectopic one considering my tubes were almost blocked.

It's so difficult not letting anyone know but it does make sense to keep it a secret before the scan
  • My Dr asked for 2 urine samples when I went to see him to tell him I was pregnant - 1 in normal sample bottle for a PG test, and one in a red bottle to test for infection. He did say that normally they would take my word for it but seeing as it was unusual circumstances (still taking mini-pill) they would do a test to confirm it. The surgery rang yesterday to confirm the +ve result, say infection result was -ve, to book me in for flu jab and to tell me to go to chemist for healthy start vitamins.

These seem to be available to every expectant mother in our area - free if you are on certain benefits but £1.25 if you are not. I'll just take them for the 12 weeks, and I wont be breastfeeding. They must be new thing though as they didn't tell me to take them when I was expecting DS in 2010

Morning all, hope everyone is well :)

Sorry I have been MIA for the last while, had a very tough couple if days in work. It seems the more stressed I get the stronger my pregnancy symptoms. I do a lot of crisis management so it can be hard to keep the stress levels down. Am going to give it a couple of weeks and see how it goes but if the diziness and tension headaches continue I will consider other options.
  • Hugs Lao, I hope you find a way to de-stress. Have you tried reflexology?

    I find it amazingly relaxing.

Thanks MV, might check that out. Current plan is to ask for a meeting to discuss the current situation. It's an internal crisis this time, which is more stressful and if the situation doesn't improve I may resign. I would rather not do this as i have put alot if time and personal commitment into my career. We earn ok money and live very simply so thankfully have a nice nest egg of savings that mean it is an option for me, albeit one I would rather not be forced to take. However the most important thing is minding our little bean, and dealing with internal politics and working 70/80 weeks means my health and therefore beanies health is suffering.

Starting a mindfulness based stress reduction program to help me get some perspective on it. Feeling very emotional (I am not a crier at all) but l left work each day last week on the verge of sobbing!

@moneyqueen, we went for a private scan. I have some light spotting around 5 weeks and I wanted to put my mind at rest. They recommend that for reassurance scans (e.g no history of mc and no severe pain or bleeding) you wait till 7 weeks. This s to increase the chances of hearing the heartbeat. However given your history of endo it could be worth asking your gp/ dr who diagnosed your endo for advice.

At my scan 6.5 weeks they checked the location of the pregnancy and made sure both ovaries were clear (of what I don't know!) and checked size and heartbeat.

Evening, is anyone else counting down the minutes until bedtime? I've been napping all day and I'm still tired! Just getting dressed was like a military workout, as for throwing up, it's killing me. I'm dreading next tomorrow, I think I will ask my doctor what can perk me up.

We told parents this weekend as they were all plotting holidays around our due date, quite excited now as everyone had so much enthusiasm and were giving advice and talking about the new arrival.

Bring on 12wks when I can tell everyone! Ages away as it's mid-Feb :(

I hope everyone is well and lao-cat I'm considering some private scans as we go along, I think £95 is worth it to put my mind at rest! My mum wants a 3D one, so I hope to get a scan every 6wks. (I'm a real worrier).
