Just considering a FB anouncement to reach family and friends in far flung places, but need to work out how to hide it from certain people as there are some I know who are having a tough time with TTC who really don't need that sort of thing popping up on their news feeds.
tough one - I'd do a message then rather than an announcement on your page, but you'll still have people commenting on your profile in all likelihood so it'll end up in news feeds no matter what.

Great news BigBird! :j When the time comes for us, we have decided to only tell people face to face (or over the phone for relatives further away). Just my opinion, but I do think facebook announcements are a wee bit tacky and also I have quite a few people on my facebook that although I keep in touch with them, it's not really the kind of news that I am bothered about them knowing. Also, I really want to see people's faces/hear their voices when I tell them. Facebook kind of takes that away I think. Just my opinion though - each to their own. I also have the added problem of having some work colleagues as friends on facebook and I'm not planning on telling work for a while yet...

Fab news BigBird :) I think when the time comes for us to announce we are going to take a picture of our little boy wearing a big brother tshirt :)

Welcome to the newbies too :)

I think I am 4+ 5 today, but could be as much as 8 weeks as I was thinking about my period last month which was very light and only lasted a couple of days? Going to give the midwife team a ring this week and get booked in and hopefully find out one way or the other for sure when I have my scan!

I'm feeling very sick today, not really managed to eat much yet and have been sick a few times too. On the one hand I'm :( because I hate being sick but on the other hand I know it is because of the pregnancy hormones and is a "good sign" :) I have some metoclopromide from my last pregnancy so will ring the doctor to check I'm ok to take it again.

On the subject of jeans and maternity clothes, I didn't buy any last time except a pack of three bump bands for a tenner from new look! I had Hyperemesis (what Kate has now) and ended up losing three stone so was actually wearing smaller sized clothes for much of my pregnancy. I lived in leggings and floaty dresses and jeans and tshirts.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step...

Hi all, hope you don't mind if I join you! Found out yesterday that I'm pregnant for 3rd time, bit of a surprise but a lovely one. Have worked out that I'm just over 5 weeks, made appt with GP to get everything confirmed next week (although, 3 BFP later I think I'm sure!)

    Hi Girlzmum congratulations!

I just rang up the hospital and booked my scan, I chose one at 9am as they had some in the afternoon but I figured I would go insane waiting so best to do it first thing. Monday 17th, so I might just take the whole day off work and have a long weekend.

    Welcome Girlzmum and congratulations!

BigBird - great news. It's a totally personal decision as to how you announce it - I am with a few others in that I wouldn't do a Facebook announcement, would prefer to send individual messages, and I it can be quite upsetting when you are ttc to see other people's announcements - even though you are really happy for them! Whatever you decide, it's great news and I'm sure your friends will be very very happy for you!

Claire16c - yay for having a scan date! Good thinking with the 9am appointment. Mine was at 3pm and I couldn't concentrate at work all morning thinking about it. We've booked the 20 week scan for 08.10  That might have been just a bit tooo early!

Just spoke to my mum who said that her sickness with me ended at about 16 weeks.... here's hoping mine ends before then, I don't really want another 4 weeks of this!!

TMI warning - just puked my guts up in work - properly violent, like my entire stomach contents! It was sore :( Got a splitting headache too. I'm clock watching now - cannot wait to go home and get straight into bed!

Hippyman - hope you aren't really sick again this pregnancy!

    Girlzmum - welcome! :j

Claire - great news about the scan! Bet you can't wait! :j

AFM - still no word from the hospital! Grrrrrr! I keep bugging my hubby every day saying 'any mail?' but still nothing! If there is nothing tomorrow I will phone the Nuffield on Thursday or Friday and book a private scan.

I'm getting to the stage where I really want to tell friends and family because I could do with bit of help / sympathy now that I am feeling so ill. I have not been to visit my family for quite a while and don't phone as often as I normally would because I can't face the 1hr car journey to visit and tend to need to lie down after work, hence no phone calls. I feel bad and I bet they are thinking that I am a miserable cow not phoning or visiting them - I just want to tell them so they know why! Does anyone else feel like this?

I sympathise! I am only 10 weeks and if this carried on for another 6 weeks I don't know how I would cope - I've been ill since 5 weeks!

Thanks - I shouldn't be complaining about it, because I know it's all a good sign, and I am SO lucky to be pregnant, and so excited about having a baby! But it just feels a bit relentless sometimes, have had nausea for 6 weeks now, and vomiting for 3 weeks, so am just hoping it'll ease soon. :o

I know what you mean. It really gets you down. I've had really bad nausea for about 5 weeks and the retching and vomiting just started in the last week or so, plus I've started getting bad headaches too now. I know I shouldn't be complaining either, but I have to say it is really hard to be happy and excited when you feel like poop! It's nice to pop in here and see that you are not alone though! :)
