I'd say my OH has been more upset with me than the little bead (what we call ours - though it's bigger now!). If I can't do anything for days on end he gets a bit frustrated but then immediately apologises and makes it up. I guess it is hard for him having to do all of the chores etc at the moment, whereas usually we share things equally.
It is a bit hard for men esp in first trimester, you look normal but you're lying on the sofa after work staring into space pretending to be a couch potato. My OH was much better after a mutual friend mentioned that her doctor had said the hormones hit you harder than horse tranquilizer :D
We also moved house when I was about 10 weeks, the next day I spent in bed all day as I had the most horrible morning sickness and I knew if I moved I'd throw up even though I hadn't eaten much at all, OH eventually made me move sometime mid-afternoon as the bed was too far over and he needed to move it, cue me dashing directly for the loo as soon as I was vertical and being violently ill and a lot more sympathy ;)

Is that stat accurate? My wife is worrying that she hasn't had any sickness at all, I've been trying to reassure that it's OK and she should be thankful.

Not that one of the commentators on the radio helped, claiming that the more sick you are, the better the pregnancy is progressing  Cue more worries!
You can have no sickness and a perfectly healthy pregnancy and you can have horrible sickness and have had a missed-miscarriage, everyone is different, so no point worrying. How far along is she? Mine didn't start right away. I also know someone else previously on this thread only had hers start after the 12 week scan! (she's since had a perfectly healthy baby)

Sorry to hear you're all suffering btw!

Thanks for the sympathy :) I think it depends on what website you look at, some say 75% and some even say 80-90%, but that includes nausea too so is not only taking into account women that are actually vomiting. I think that is an old wives tale the more sick you are, the healthier the pregnancy. Morning Sickness is a tell tale sign that the pregnancy hormones are surging, but it doesn't mean that because you are not sick there are no hormones. Your OH must be in the lucky 25% (or whatever!) :)

It's lovely of you to reassure her - us pregnant ladies need a lot of that so keep it up! :)

She's somewhere between 6 & 8 weeks, we're not sure due to recent hospital treatment obscuring her last period.

I could see her only getting morning sickness when she sees the scan. She's so head-strong she probably won't sink in till then :D

Mine only started mildly at 5 weeks and has only been really bad in the last fortnight (so weeks 8-10) so she might still get it in some shape or form. Fingers crossed she doesn't though! :)

bodge - I was perfectly fine re the nausea until around 8/9 weeks! And the first 6 weeks or so I didn't really have much in the way of symptoms apart from feeling sleepy all the time so theres plenty of time for symptoms to crop up (hope it doesnt though and she has an easy healthy pregnancy!)

I had a call back re my 'slightly abnormal' bloods from my booking in, and the abn result was slightly raised white count indicating infection. I did have a chest infection at the time so thats prob what it is, I just need to give another sample for them to check..

I so wish they'd mentioned it in the letter though, I had to wait 1 week after I received the letter for my telephone appt (my GP sucks!!) and I was worrying myself it was something to do with the baby..

Its been 5 days since my scan and blood test and I havent been contacted by phone yet so fingers crossed all stays well!

savageHK I like the quote about horse tranquilizers - I will mention that to my DH (though he has been super regardless!)
We got rid of the kids. The cat was allergic. ;)

    Debt at LBM (Sep 07): £13,500. Current debt: [STRIKE]£680[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£480[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£560[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£13[/STRIKE] £0 overdraft :D
Current aims - to start building up savings
    1st £1000 in 100 days - £1178.03 :D 2nd £1053.38/£1000 :D 3rd £863.59/£1000 :o

I read a American study the other day that said it is a very high percentage of women who suffer from morning sickness, and that if you vomit as opposed to just feeling naseous that is also supposed to be a good sign.

However - it doesnt mean if you dont get sick or vomit your pregnancy wont be successful.

So its probably best to just be glad you dont have it!

Plus if shes between 6-8 weeks theres plenty of time yet :) Not that Im wishing it on anybody!!

Had my repeat blood test, so much quicker as they only needed the one sample. So Im not so scared of having them done anymore.

However if they offer one at the 12 week scan for the Downs syndrome test Ill be refusing not just because I dont want another test, but because I wouldnt do anything even if my chances were high, so seems pointless.
  • Thanks all. After speaking to my dad today, he said its more likely guilt that he's in some way caused this pain and sickness so he feels bad for it, which makes sense as poor soul feels bad if I catch a cold after him. I just keep reassuring him and hoping it'll be gone by Christmas!

Oh sparkles - I'm sorry you're so ill - I hope you don't need to go to hospital.

If I can't do anything for days on end he gets a bit frustrated but then immediately apologises and makes it up. Yay - minimuffin!! And congrats to any others I've missed.

I had my scan today and all looks good. They've dated me at 12+5. They said the nuchal measurement looks low risk but the full results should come through in the next 2 weeks (or 3 days if high risk). The baby was moving loads - stretching out and putting one of its hands up to its face. So cute!

So glad your scan went well!

You better tell your DH this will pale in comparison to the chores he will have to do when the baby comes, he better get in practise now! :rotfl:
