Sparkles87 - just popped over from the 12-24 week thread to give you a massive hug and my sympathies. Being that sick is awful _pale_

Sadly I am still on medication at 20 weeks for sickness and have been in hospital a couple of times as was so dehydrated :( But this is rare, so hopefully you will be feeling (nearly) like your normal self soon :)

Just a bit of advice if you can manage them - wait about an hour after the tablet to eat. Eat first and then drink about an hour later - I can't mix fluid and food even now. Water is a definite no-go - I can sip lemonade. And suck boiled sweets as this helped me keep the wretching at bay (My DH would often wake up to me sucking a sweet at 3 in the morning :rotfl: I am sick 24 hours a day - nothing morning about mine!!!). I could only stomach raspberry flavoured ones - the nice man in the local sweet shop used to take out the blackberry ones for my DH when he went in to buy them :o

At the peak of my sickness (with the tablets) I was eating tiny portions of random food - just eat what you fancy even if it isn't healthy. Anything is better than nothing. I lived on quavers for at least 6 weeks, but can eat most things now. Don't feel guilty as baby will be ok.

Look after yourself it is a miserable place to be (And yes it is worth it, but its hard to see that far ahead when you are feeling so dreadful!) xxxx
  • OMG sparkles that sounds awful! I really feel for you, will defo count myself lucky then! Hope the tablets start working for you.
Teaandcupcakes glad your mw app was fine. I have just got back from having my blood taken, ouch! It was fine though. Next app 17th Dec by then i will have had my scan i hope! can't wait to get my date!!
  • Thanks for the words of advice chonorla, the tablets seem to be working today so sticking with the odd cravings and hoping my stomach stays calm for a few days!

Aw hugs sparkles, ur ms sounds awful, hope it eases up soon!

Does anyone have crazy itching, ESP in the evening, and at night? My skin is drier but I've never had itching that bad before, even with severely dry skin. It's mainly on my legs but also (embarrassing!) in my groin area?? I thought it might be hai growing back in after my wax but this seems different somehow?
We got rid of the kids. The cat was allergic. ;)

    Debt at LBM (Sep 07): £13,500. Current debt: [STRIKE]£680[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£480[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£560[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£13[/STRIKE] £0 overdraft :D
Current aims - to start building up savings
    1st £1000 in 100 days - £1178.03 :D 2nd £1053.38/£1000 :D 3rd £863.59/£1000 :o
    :j
  • No itching yet but I've read that it's perfectly normal.

Gave into maternity bra and jeans today, just so bloated and my b o o b s have been so sore - and I am so comfortable. I'm staying in these post-baby for a long while too. And they were really MSE - the maternity bras in M&S were £30 each, this one was £12.99 in New Look and it's a better fit.

I am 11 weeks today and thought the sickness should be starting to ease around now, but I have felt soooo ill for the last couple of days :( Still not actually thrown up, which is something to be thankful for, but the near constant nausea is starting to wear me down. And to cap it all, I now have a stinking cold too so feeling rather sorry for myself today.

If I feel as bad tomorrow, I might have to throw a sickie. I don't really want too as I keep reminding myself I'm pregnant, not ill, but I'm really not being very productive at all at the moment so I think a rest would do me good (with a toddler in the house, weekends are even less restful than a day at work!)

Hope your MS eases soon Sparkles - and yours Chonorla! - despite my moaning, I do appreciate it could be a lot worse.

But on the bright side, only a week away from my scan now :) The letter says to have a "comfortable bladder", but last time they were running so late that I was bursting by the time I went in for the scan and the wait was really uncomfortable. Hopefully they won't be running so late this time, especially since my appointment is at 10:10am, but my plan is to have a pee before I set off and then take a bottle of water to swig on the way.

Funny you should mention itching, Mogwai, but I've had really itchy shins the last couple of days. I didn't realise that was a pregnancy thing.

    .

I feel exactly the same bigbird (it feels rude calling you that!:D) - I am 11+1 today - no chucking up so far but terrible nausea - and I felt really faint whilst driving home from work. I am having to constantly swallow when brushing my teeth to stop gagging - incidentally I have managed to get a new electric toothbrush coming from BzzAgent - woohoo - hope it doesn't make me gag more!).

When did yours stop with your last pregnancy? I have been snacking all day! Particularly effective was the Mars Refuel drink, salted & roasted almonds (seriously these are fab - look out in Holland & Barratt) and Cadburys fingers!

Hope you feel better soon - I keep waking up thinking I migh have a sickie - but then my inner self also says you're not ill - so I drag myself in!:o
  • Big hugs for all the ladies feeling bleh. I thought I was getting a bit better today, missed my tablet with dinner and oh my did I feel awful again. So back on the tablets for now and sucking fox fruit sweets as often as possible!

Had my docs appt today, she just took my blood pressure and asked af few questions. Although Im just over 8 weeks, because I didnt ovulate til day 20, Im 9 weeks according to last period, so the doc is going with that - and Im happy cos it means I can get the scan done earlier, and she said they will just date from that anyway so it doesnt matter if Im really 11 weeks then. It did make me wonder what would they do if it had been one of my cycles where I had ovulated on like week 5 or 6!

Then went to book an appt with the midwife but the receptionist said there were none free on the system so she has to call me when shes back in on Wednesday to sort me out one which seems like ages away. Then she will arrange the scan for me.

Not looking forward to having blood taken Ive never had it done before and I used to be fine with jabs but last couple of years started to get quite faint with needles when I had to have a load for travelling and got myself worked up about it, so the thought of taking blood makes me feel faint at the thought! So i will make sure to ask to lie down when they do it.

Really sick this morning, by lunch felt way better and ate a full meal, but now the evening is drawing in Im back to feeling nauseuous again. Ive tried a couple of Fab lollies, but then DH got me these mini twister ones today which look good as I cant always cope with the chocolate bit on the Fab ones.

Ive had to tell some friends plus people at work and in the family, because my sickness has meant I havent been able to meet up etc, but I figured Im only telling the same people I would tell if something awful were to happen anyway.

I was reading something the other day that said you shouldnt feel bad if you have to call in sick to work, or just make an excuse for why you cant do something one day with friends etc- yes its sickness because you are pregnant, but you are still ill, the result is still the same - puking over the toilet!

So although yes you need to try to drag yourself to work because you cant be ill for like 12 weeks, if youre having a really bad day then dont go in - you are growing a person! So there are bound to be some days where you just cant do it and dont beat yourself up about it.

Hi Claire, I have regular blood tests due to my thyroid condition, and I.don't find them too bad - my flu and whooping cough vaccines a few weeks ago were much worse.

2 top tips - make sure you've had plenty to drink so your veins are easy to find, and close your eyes/look away the whole time after they put the tourniquet on. they use a vacutainer system with vials that pop in and out while the needle stays in, but it doesn't hurt once it's in, and 5 vials or 1 makes no difference in my experience. Hth xx
