Good luck to those having scans this week - let us know how you get on!

Emily - my scan is on the same day as yours!

I am feeling very rough today. I was sick this morning and am working from home, but still finding it quite tough. I had a really good day yesterday and had thought that I was over the worst!
  • Can someone give me hints on how to help the tiredness in the afternoon. I feel like crying i'm that knackered. :(

((hugs) teaandcupcakes for the tiredness. Is there any way you can have a cheeky cat nap at lunchtime? Even half an hour in your car or an empty office? I have been napping occasionally at lunchtime and find it really helps.

Have you told your employer you are pregnant yet? Is there anything they could do so your work is a bit more flexible?

I think we just have to ride it out... it's horrible, but I'm assured it will get better in the second trimester (and then worse again in the third, but at least there'll be some let up!)

claire - i had a private scan at 5 weeks and heard the heartbeat then, and then i had one at 8 weeks on the nhs as I had been away and experienced some spotting and cramps - my dr was really good and got me an appt that day. I didnt have lots of bleeding just some brown spotting - so i think it depends a lot on how willing your dr is to refer you in these cases.

TACC - I feel for you - my OH has been really ill and waking up several times a night having coughing fits so ive been so low on sleep. The worst thing is i hate napping in the day/evening as I feel really groggy and sometimes depressed for the rest of the day.

Can you nap on your way in to work, and does getting to sleep earlier in the evening help with afternoon tiredness?

I cant wait for things to ease up in the second trimester too -feeling sick and still needing to eat is really getting to me too! The only thing I am really enjoying atm is twister ice lollies mm
We got rid of the kids. The cat was allergic. ;)

Aw ladies, I think we are all going through the same things! I felt so down yesterday about the nausea, I am just getting to the end of my tether with it and I know I'll still have a good few weeks of feeling like this :( I just feel sick all day long and sometimes wake up with it through the night too. It has been non stop for almost three weeks now and is totally draining!

I am also feeling really tired and by about 3pm I am ready to drop. No advice on how to deal with it - although I do usually have a cup of tea or a can of coke round about then and that seems to help a bit. I allow myself 2 cups of tea so I usually have one in the morning and save the other one until I feel really tired. Seems like everyone is in the same boat so it's nice to know that you are not the only one, but it still gets you down. Chin up ladies! :)

I am still waiting impatiently for my first MW appointment. I think I will call this week if it hasn't arrived by mid week...
  • Hi everyone. I see lots of people are suffering badly with sickness and nausea! I have laid off the forum for a bit cos I feel kinda left out-I've not been sick or particularly nauseous at all, reading about yyou guys got me kiinda worried that something is wrong. My mum said she never suffered with sickness at all so maybe I won't. I do however feel constant;y hungry! My belly rumbles when I wake up, I am eating a lot but then get hungry again pretty soon after! I do generally have quite a fast metabolism but this is crazy! Trying to eat healthily as i really don't wanna gain a lot of weight as i'm really short!
Had first midwife app last wk, just forms, going back again weds for bloods. she asked my height and shoe size and my partner's height-I'm 4ft11, size 4 feet and he's almost 6 ft! she seemed a bit worried!which really worried me! :-(

Apparently there is something in this - and it's not unusual to have a similar pregnancy to the one your mum experienced when pregnant with you!

My mum has told me more than once that her pregnancy with me was the worst nine months of her life  And my Dad is quite happy to confirm that it was miserable for him too :rotfl:

I just had a tiny nap during my lunchbreak, feel like I could sleep all afternoon. Tempted to tell work I have a migraine but I'm due to see my boss on Wednesday and tell her about the pregnancy, so I'm going to try not to take a sickie before then!

Is it usually after 7 weeks the midwife takes you for your booking appt?
You'd think I would have remembered all this!
  • dippydooda - my mum is 4ft10 and size 4 and my dad is 6ft1, I was about 6lb 8oz and my brother was 8lb something - he was caesarian born but we were both healthy babies, hope that helps your worry.

I give into the tiredness and nap but I'm lucky that my work day allows me to do that. Plus my boss wouldn't mind if I asked her, but then I told early because of the nature of my job.

just had my booking in appt with midwife - it really is pretty boring, but at least DH was there to hold my hand when they took 5 VIALS OF BLOOD! eeek!

my OH's family were all huge babies - 10 or 11lb, whereas on my side we were all tiny 5-6lb - i really really hope this one takes after my side in this regard! :S
