lovecake, it's worth chasing up with the midwives if they've received the referral. Mine got lost or delayed.

I was 10 weeks yesterday :) It's nice to be in double figures. Got my second appointment with the midwife later to finish off the booking, and also my flu jab this afternoon. Then scan in 2 weeks.

So far I've told my Mum and my supervisor at work (as I was feeling so ill that it was affecting my work). DH wants to tell his Dad and Step-Mum this weekend. To be honest, I don't think we have much choice as we're staying overnight with them so they can look after DS while we go out with some friends. FIL has offered to drive us to the restaurant, but it's not really necessary as I obviously won't be drinking - and want to have the car with me so I have an excuse for not drinking while we're out! I don't mind telling them though.

We've not thought about names yet. It was easy with DS as I'd always wanted to name a little boy after my Grandad (good job DH liked the name too or there'd have been trouble! :p) We had trouble agreeing on a girl's name last time so it was a good thing we had a boy.

Symptoms seem to be easing a little now. My constipation is definitely easing and I don't feel so sick all day, though I do still have a few of waves of nausea a day. I think this is fairly normal around now though, so hopefully not a bad sign.

Well, I had better go find a bag big enough to fit my maternity notes in, just in case I bump into anyone I know at the surgery!
You can do anything, make anything, dream anything. If you change the world, the world will change.
  • I think I will leave it another week until I chase it up - that will have been over a fortnight since my GP appointment and I'll be 8+2 so I think I should have heard by then. I am just so so desperate to see if I am going to have a scan before Xmas! We would love to be able to tell everyone at Xmas and it would certainly make it easier to explain why I'm not having a drink! I think I may have mentioned before, but on Boxing Day I will be 13 weeks so I'm hoping that means I have a good chance of getting a scan before Xmas.

Glad your symptoms are easing BigBird! :) I am still feeling really sick ALL DAY. The only way I can describe it is to think back to the last time you had a really awful hangover - one that made you feel hot and sick and tired and a bit headachey and only crisps and juice and lying very still with the curtains closed will help. That is how I feel all day every day! :( I know it will be worth it though! So glad it is Friday and at 5pm I will be free! Yay! and I can have a lie in tomorrow! Yay! :)
  • Please be careful with the amounts of ribena you drink, as i craved ribena throughout my pregnancy (a good few years ago i might add), and drank lots if it, anyway when i was 7 months i was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, and was told to reduce the ribena intake drastically and if possible cut it out altogether.
There was no history of diabetes in our familys, and gestational diabetes disappears after the baby is born, my baby although a week early wasn't exceptionally big 7lb 4oz and was/is perfectly healthy.

I'm following this thread as my eldest daughter is around 9-10 weeks and going for her scan in a couple of weeks. The excitement is building now, and i'm looking forward to telling people i'm going to be a NANNA :)
  • Lovecake - I went to see my GP at 4-5 weeks and i kid you not about a week later i got 2 letters through (in same envelope) one with the mw appointment and one with the scan. We are so organised here! i was very impressed!

Mrs J i am so glad i am not the only one whos thinking bubba names.:rotfl:

Anyone going to find out at a later date if its team Blue/pink?

    Morning All

    How is everyone?

Cant believe i hit double figures tomorrow - 10 weeks! i have my MW appointment on Tuesday and then the scan the following week!. We have told no -one! so i cant wait to see the look on our parents face to say - guess what :) its funny everyone is planning things for next year (big birthdays in my family) and im just going along with it.... little do they know eh!
    :)
As sad as i sounds we have been thinking about baby names.... not taking it too seriously but its actually occured to me that there are very limited boys names that i like... hmmm. I have middle names for either team blue or Team pink though:)

Not really had much more in the way of symptoms other than between 2-4 in the afternoon i am so tired and so useless and i have been getting small pains. - nothing to wory about though just the body changing, i guess.

Anyway hope everyone has a lovely weekend :) xx

TACC - i have the same schedule as you almost! I am 11 weeks tomorrow according to LMP but 10 according to my scans, and have my midwife appt on monday and my scan the week after. DH missed the 8 week scan I had where I saw the baby moving and waggling arms and legs so really looking forward to that for him!

Is anyone else taking their DH to the midwife appt? I heard they ask questions about family medical history on both sides so it might be a good idea to have DH present. At any rate he'll be there anyway...

Nausea is letting up but still not enjoying food that much and can't stand any kind of perfume :o
We got rid of the kids. The cat was allergic. ;)

mogwai - my DH was keen to come to the first midwife appointment but a few people said it would be pretty dull for him, so he didn't come along, and I'm glad he didn't as he would have been so bored... just lots and lots of paperwork and questions. I would say that unless there's any significant medical history in his family that you know about it's probably not worth it.

That said, it's a totally personal decision of course! My DH will definitely come to the scans and the next midwife appointment at 16 weeks when they listen to the heartbeat :)

Having been really sick earlier this week my nausea seems to be letting up a bit over today and yesterday, and I even just ate some chocolate which I'd gone right off... from what others say on here it is normal for things to fade a bit around 10 weeks, so I'm trying not to worry or panic. Starting to get a tiny bit anxious again now as we are getting close to the scan and I just want everything to be ok :o

Thanks mrsj28 - Ill let DH know and leave it to him - Im not too fussed but he was really gutted about missing out on my 8 week scan so he will def be at the scans..

I really want to see my 12 week scan too, its funny you have a scan and feel ok for a few weeks then start worrying again..! I think the 12 week scan is a big milestone though, so fingers crossed just stay relaxed and look after yourself til then. Ive been finding it hard to get enough sleep but am going to force myself to put my feet up after this busy weekend!

Nice to hear updates - its hard work keeping it all a secret isn't it - thank goodness we can chat on here. Theres quite a few of us 10-11 week bods on here! I am dreading and looking forward to my scan - although its still 2.5 weeks off. It still seems weird that there is supposedly something in my stomach - at the moment it just feels like water retention/wind!:o

I have totally gone off crisps - I was up to 3 packets a day - they just taste of grease to me now! I am now on grapes, toast and raspberry jam and Fab lollies.

I am going to find out what sex it is as soon as I can (I am even going to ask at the scan as mine will be supposedly at 12+6 as apparently they can sometimes get an idea at that stage) - I will need to prepare mentally for a boy...... (names are rubbish
for boys, clothing is dull, and its all blue!:rotfl:).

Of course I know it can all still go wrong and I am also trying to prepare for that (if you can that is).

Hope everyone has a chilled out and vomit-free weekend :) x

My OH will be coming to the booking appt, but that is only because I am having the scan at the same appt.

Still pretty queasy for me, though I haven't been sick since Monday. The last couple of days I've been so tired at work, I haven't been very productive :o

I had my flu jab this morning so my arm is a bit sore!

I second those wishes for a chilled out and vomit free weekend!
