mogwai - I couldn't agree more... if I look then I cannot cope with having blood taken, but if I don't look I'm absolutely fine!!
  • Afternoon hope all are well .. I have a cold on top of everything else so in all honesty just want to go to bed and sleep for a week lol

I had my first scan today. I'm a bit further on than I thought - I'm now 12+1 and my baby is developing healthily. It was so surreal seeing my little un on screen for the first time. I cried! Haha baby was laying on its tummy but did a little twirl for us. We were there for the best part of four hours so take something to eat with you when it's your turn

Yes! They were running late and I can't tell you how uncomfortable it is when you have to wait with a full bladder for longer than anticipated.

After my scan I then had to join another queue to see the midwife. I had to see her on my own at first and then my OH could join me. She went through all of my notes with a fine tooth comb, she tested my pee and went through my blood test results. She also told me what will happen in my next appointments and explained the process for testing for downs.

My next appointments are in early January. Seeing my little un just made it seem real.

I know that this thread is for 12 weeks and under but the first trimester doesn't end until you are 14 weeks so I am going to hang around until then.

Oh gosh, I'd forgotten about the full bladder thing - I had a couple of scans earlier in the year for other reasons and had to go with a full bladder, so uncomfortable. My appointment next week is a 3pm appointment, strikes me as a classic 'running late' time of day! Oh well, it will be so worth it if all is ok... I'm starting to get very excited and also very nervous in case things aren't right. Only one more week to wait now yay!

Just got a pair of maternity trousers on ebay as I am popping out of everything - brand new Next black trousers for work, only paid £8 in total including the postage :money: Hopefully they'll be ok, if not I'll just resell them on ebay again!

Mine is at 2.30 - so hopefully I won't still be there at 6.30pm! But I haven't even had a blood test yet - so I guess I will be passed around a bit too..... My fear is that they say "Hello, I'm afraid you're not really pregnant, you've just got a case of really bad wind and thats whats been making your stomach the size of a house and gave you terrible nausea"!!! I even had a dream along the same lines!:o (that or triplets....!)

Now that was my fear as well! I felt like such a fraud in the waiting room. I was surrounded by bumps of various sizes and I kept thinking that mine was due to crisps, fruit n nut and ice lollies (I had five lollies last night!)

I hope that you got my scan pm. I clicked on submit message just as you pm'd me! great minds lol
  • excellent stuff snozberry glad everything went well. I did laugh at your last post thinking your bump is due to Crisps etc.

Hope you get on well today MrsJ

Midwife appointment went well, completed the forms got the blood taken and got a whole lot of bumf to takle home. OH came with me :) so now its just a waiting game till next fri for my scan. We have planned to meet parents for lunch after to share our news, then we have a bunch of friends coming over for a get together before xmas, perfect timing i think:jxx
  • Hi ladies, I've had two days of hell, sick to the point that I can't keep water down and started bringing up blood (sorry if TMI) so went to drs to get sickness tablets to avoid hospital. Finally kept one down on the 2nd attempt this morning so just waiting before I try and eat something.
Honestly, be very happy if you don't have sickness, this is awful, it'll all be worth it but bleh...not good :(
