Just wanted to pick ur brains about something - has anyone had a 6 week scan? I am thinking of asking my doc for one when I see her or getting a private one done - reason being I am going away for 2.5weeks to a place where medical care is minimal and I want to know that everything is ok.

Im prob being hypochondriac but I want to rule out ectopic, as my aunt had one last month and she had emergency surgery done, which would be difficult where Im going.

So glad to see you here Mog :)

As for the NHS private scan - it's highly unlikely your doc will ring EPU for you if there isn't a good reason (like major problems previously). Obviously, lots of people are anxious to begin with but it's all just a waiting game. If you will only be 6+1 it's even less likely.

A private scan sounds like a better idea although at that point they may not be able to see very much, if anything. Might cause you more stress than not? Remember - ectopics are very very rare so try not to worry. I understand why you are more concerned though - when you see it first hand its always at the front of your mind.

Anyway, have a brilliant holiday!! xx

Thanks lilymay - I know they can't always hear the heartbeat esp early on in the 6th week but I guess just a general once over with what they can see would be good - a heartbeat would be a bonus.

I think my best friend having had a mc and my aunt having an ectopic in the last 2 months has got me thinking - I've booked my scan so looking forward to that now! DH is really looking forward to it now..

In other news, DH has warned me off tea and spicy foods- how will I live?? :o

    Hope everyone else is well!

    thats fab new chonorla!!

had my booking in appointment today so lots of boxes ticked! got to go back in a couple of weeks for bloods to be taken (though dont know why she couldnt do them today!) got my little pack with the books etc and have filled out my freebie forms to take to boots tomorrow!

midwife also wants me to have the flu jab but apparently only the nurse can do it and she only does it on certain days/times - and none of these times are when the midwife is there *sigh* and the nurse never does an evening session so it means I will need to take time off work again - looks like Im going to have to tell my bosses before I had originally planned as I'll be damned if Im going to keep using my annual leave!

Oh no, how distressing for you.

I know this won't stop you worrying, but just remember that bleeding can be perfectly normal! Particularly if there is no pain with it.

I posted on this thread when bleeding (bright red) just before 12 weeks and lots of people replied saying they'd had the same. All was fine for me, hopefully it will be for you too :o

ETA: it was around 1st sept if you want to go back and read the encouraging stories
