I don't think anything prevents stretch marks, if you're going to get them you will but I found this really helped fade them http://www.boots.com/en/Extracts-Fairtrade-Almond-Body-Butter-200ml_998717/

    Hi ladies,

Good luck with your scan today morocha!

    Welcome to msnigella & mumof2!

I'm 12+1 today but hanging about here until we know all is fine at the scan next Tuesday, it will be interesting to see if my dates are right or if they move me back or forward a bit.

Still feeling an underlying queasiness most of the day then it kicks up to waves of nausea around 8pm an is like a migraine sort of sickness, room spinning etc but I've still only been sick once so can't complain too much. It's also definitely not as bad as it was between weeks 6-10. My b00bs are also still very sore with no sign of easing up but it only really bothers me at night. I also have a bit of a bump going on, although I think it's more that my uterus is growing and pushing my fat bits out further!!

Re finding out sex- we didn't want to know with our DD, but they had to scan me at 36 weeks as they were querying breech (she wasn't) but by then my nesting/ practical side had kicked in big time and I really wanted to know, hubby left the room as he supported me wanting to know but he really wanted a surprise! So I had 6 weeks of knowing/ getting organised/ hiding pink baby things. Some of out family also wanted to know so there was a lot of secret keeping! Our hospital will now not tell you at the 20 week scan so I think we'll book in for a private one around 30 weeks and again I will know but hubby won't. He's very determined about the issue!! As was I/ will I be when all your hormones make you desperate to get organised!!

Wow, loads going on here today!

Mumof2 & MS Nigella welcome and congratulations!! I recognise MSNig from the ttc thread!

MOrocha, good luck for the scan today!

We'll definitely find out. I really don't mind what we have as long as it's healthy. OH on the other hand is rather keen on a boy and may need a few weeks to get used to the idea of a girl. He'd be over the moon with either eventually but has a little sexist streak in him that thinks he'll have an heir if he has a boy. I forsee a few arguments in our future re girls being heirs!!

We've still only told both sets of parents. But tomorrow we have a family do with OH's 2 sisters and it's going to be so hard not to tell them. I'm getting a bit fat as well, so much so they'll either guess or think I've got rather fat rather quickly! I'm 11 weeks tomorrow so nearly there. Scan is a week on tuesday so going to try and hold out till then.

I know it cost a lot of money, but they don't offer treatment for natural killer cells on the NHS. So privately was the only way to have a baby.

In fact they don't even offer testing for it on the NHS nor is the bloid tested in this country. It had to be sent to Chicago to be tested.

Sequeena - they said my mums back waters broke due to stress. Her nan who was like a second mum had just had died, I was toddler and I think something had to give and so it did her back waters. This was 29 years ago now so if it had happened now there would probably be a different reason for it, but that is what they said to her at the time.

Lobster do you know if your mum bled when it happened? I was in ASDA and had an awful pain like someone snapped a rubber band inside me. Went to the toilet and there was loads of blood. When I finally got scanned (that is a story in itself) they never thought to check me as they thought my only problem was bleeding. It was only at 18+4 in fetal medicine, almost 4 weeks later that they discovered my waters had gone.

Sequeena - I don't know I am afraid I didn't think to ask. It only came up again in conversation again recently as I needed to know her pregnancy history due to all my problems.

My mum had always said that her waters broke with my sister at an early stage it was only when she went in to detail for me that she said it was her back waters. What I do know is that she had to stay in Stoke Mandeville hospital until my sister was born and I met Sir Jimmy Saville. Not that I can remember meeting him as I was too young to remember!

You must have been very scared with that happening. I am petrified of anything happening during my pregnancy as it is going to be our one and only child due to my problems conceiving I am absolutely paranoid.
