Thank you for the warm welcome everyone. I still can't believe that I am having a baby.

Sequeena - I was reading your post with interest. When my mum had my sister her back waters broke at 28 weeks you are the only other person I know who has had that happen.

I am thinking ahead to Christmas already and we have agreed not to buy anything for the baby until after Christmas. We are going to do a Christmas present list for the baby we don't want anything for ourselves and then buy everything else that we need new in the sales!

Does anyone know long it takes before the midwide contacts you. I saw my GP on Monday and I am being referred for consultant led care, but does anyone know when the midwife will contact me in the meantime is it usually quite quickly.

I am counting down to my second early scan on Tuesday and we are already discussing having the 12 week scan privately too as I think there may be a delay with the 12 week scan with be referred.

Has anyone had or will be having the Nuchal scan?

My GP did the referral and then I received midwife booking in appointment and scan date letter in the post about 3 weeks later. Consultant referral got lost along the way and took about 8 weeks to come through  A note for anyone that's being referred for hypothyroidism, try and get your GP to send you for bloods ASAP as consultant will be able to access them, and compare them to the ones you get done before you see them. Easier for them to judge whether your demand has increased, mine took ages to get sorted (not helped by them losing the referral!) and it's the first 12 weeks that are crucial. :(

Littlemoog - thanks if I have to wait 3 weeks for a midwife appointment I will already be 12 weeks! I will follow up with my doctors surgery next week then to chase up the midwife and the consultant referal.

Where I had my IVF they have a private midwife so I think I may pop in there for a visit whilst waiting for the NHS midwife to contact me to make sure my little miracle is OK.

In my area you can also ring the community midwife team direct to sort out an appointment - may be worth trying this, especially if you want to get nuchal testing done, as I think it has to be before 13+6. I only went via the GP as I knew I needed my thyroid stuff looking into asap - not that it helped!

    Hiya ladies!

Sorry I haven't been around much, been super tired :o

What's everyones views on finding out what sex their baby is? I hate suprises but the only suprise I would want in life is to find out afterwards but I want to be practical, I'm due the end of Feb but would buy a years worth of baby clothes in the Jan sales, I dont want to buy a years worth of neutral clothes :rotfl:

I'm going to call an book my 12 weeek scan on Monday :D

Since my bleeding scare, Hubby wants to wrap me up in cotton wool, we went to a concert on Mon night and he asked he could get me a big tummy muff so the baby won't be deaf :p

Littlemoog - I tried going directly to a midwife, but they won't see you directly you have to go via the GP in our area to get referred. I am a high risk pregnancy due to my clotting and elevated NK cell issues so I have to see my GP anyway to get referred to the consultant. I am just aware of time issues.

Where I am going for my private scan on Tuesday they do the Nuchal testing there so I think I am going to bite the bullet and book in for a scan there and pay the £195 to get it done.

I know it seems like a lot of money, but when you have spent nearly £40,000 going through 4 rounds of IVF £195 is a drop in the ocean!!

I am still having my intralip infusions at £400 a time as well to stop my immune system attacking my little miracle. I think this is the going to be the most expensive baby on the planet ever conceived!

morocha - I was reading that you can buy a urine test and it can tell you what sex you are having from that I don't know if they are any good though.

Good luck with you scan. I was so nervous before my early pregnancy scan - the most nervous I have ever been about anything in my life.

We are going to find out the sex.
