What number did you ring to get the forms sent to you? My partner was only given an address to write too, they wouldn't give out the number to him.0 -

They sent me the forms in early dec I sent back in Jan 2011, but they never sent me a letter saying they got my form. When I called them they said they don't send letters until the decision has been made?
I should get my answer this coming week with any luck.
On Friday they were dealing with one's that had arrived by the 24th-25th, on Monday it was the 23rd, so just shows how long it takes. Mine got to them on the 27th Jan so they said it should be done by this week.
When they get your form [which they had sent to me I hadn't requested it] it goes to the department logged onto system but not looked at until they reach that date. The day I had my Beautiful son is the day everything came together for me. For someone so small he done so much and made me complete.0 -

If you call 0845 7123456 once through ask to be put through to the correct department. They put me through straight away but they have already contacted me last year about this. I know of many who haven't been contacted on here and have been asked to wait until April.
If you already get LRM for sight problems then they should have contacted you.The day I had my Beautiful son is the day everything came together for me. For someone so small he done so much and made me complete.0 -

That's the number he called but the man said that he wasn't allowed to give out the number for the department dealing with this until April. We'll just have to wait and see if they reply to the letter we sent to them last week requesting the forms.
No they didn't give me the number they won't give that out but they did put me through but I think this is because they contacted me.The day I had my Beautiful son is the day everything came together for me. For someone so small he done so much and made me complete.0 -
Nannyone are you cross that the system doesn't properly account for those who's sight is drastically worse outdoors when they are assessing outdoor mobility or that my consultant has been helpful and assisted me in getting an assessment relevant to my condition?
He ticked the box that states that my condition varies in different lighting conditions and also wrote a note explaining the nature of my condition and that it renders me totally blind in daylight."Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0 -
jetta. i'm annoyed that everyone isn't being given the same opportunity with regards to claiming HRM. i struggle with any lighting conditions that arent 'perfect'.
i would assume that very few consultants would consider undertaking the acuity test outside of the clinical setting and the form doesnt have a 'tick box' to establish if the test was done in clinic or in the car park.0 -
The tick box I mentioned was as to wether or not the level sight varies in different lighting conditions.
No they might not all think of this I simply asked and he said yes. To measure the sight of somebody with Achromatopsia in low light would be completely knackered and I'm sure the lighting varies greatly between one clinic and the next be you indoors or out there is no defined lighting condition for the assessment."Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0 -
i can only read the chart in low light as i cant cope with 'the glare' from sunshine or artificial lighting.
so although a different condition, i am also very sensitive to light.
as part of my condition is also night blindness i am also stuffed in dim/dark conditions.
i just dont understand what an acuity test actually proves when it comes to blindness. it's not reading an eye chart that uis the biggest problem for most people. ( even though 3 lines isnt fantastic) it's all the other associated sight problems that conditions throw in the mix.0 -

I completely agree with you and I also suffer great pain in sunlight, even with cat 4 glasses I still feel terrible pain and can't see at all in sunlight but there is no allowance made for this either. The system is quite indadequate at assessing us and our needs properly so unfortunately all we can do is work with it and get our consultants to give them the most accurate picture of our conditions. You can submit a letter from your consultant instead of the CVI so he can give more than one set of measurements and a full explanation along with it."Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0
