I had my phone call about 3 weeks ago and saw my consultant for a new CVI on Friday. My sight is drastically effected by daylight so as this is what is relevant to HRM my consultant tested me outside in the hospital car park with a cardboard chart and a tape measure. He's a lovely man and we looked awful daft but he didn't mind doing it.

He put 1.68 for left and 1.82 for my right. That's on the LogMAR scale where 0 is equivalent to 20/20 on the Snellen scale and 3/60 is 1.3 so 1.6 is well within the criteria for it.

Thanks for your reply, Yes I have been rgistered since 1994 and still no improvement maybe just a little worse buy after 17 years you adjust as best you can,I got a copy of my bd8 and sent it off to dla yesterday, So now its just waiting and hoping

By the way my surname starts with a T so they are getting through them now though they were pretty slow starting.

My partner still hasn't even heard from them. He rang them a few days ago and the man said that he couldn't give out their number until April but he gave us an address we could write to. So we've written to them asking if they will send us a form.

He saw a consultant opthamologist today to get a recent CVI and his eyes were both 1/60 so they've worsened since he last had them checked.

Fingers crossed we hear from them soon, but at least we know that he does fit the criteria (for) now.

Phoned them today as they said I'd have an answer by now but they said I should hear by end of next week now.

jetta.......has your consultant stated that he tested you out of doors?

it seems to be a bit of a grey area as tests are normally done under the same conditions for everyobne. indoors in a clinical st
etting.
if your consultant has differed from this then it leaves the door open for others to question their acuity results.l had to do my test in a totally dark room as the glare from even low level lighting affects my result.

ive just e mailed my mp regarding jetta's thread. its wholly unfair if everyone doesnt take the acuity test under the same conditions

Why not go and ask your specialist if their do the same for you and send in your results?

The DLA might not even except this, depends if their specialist put down the test was done outside.
