On page 2 of this thread it specifies the criteria that you need to meet to be entitled to clain the HRM. If you feel that you meet this and can get it confirmed from your consultant then you could appeal against it.

Yeah i think i do qualify for it, but got told you have to be registered blind to get this, is that true?

Also how do i go about claiming, is there a phone number where i can speak to someone?

    Thnaks.

They did contact me, but once i told them i was not registered blind the guy said i was not eligable for it. that cant be right?

Any time i have had an eye test i cant see any more than top letter. but its been years since i had an eye test, but going the the criteria i think am entitled to this.

Think i can see top letter in one eye and cant read nothing in the other, do you think i should phone them and ask?

The guy on the phone should not be telling people you have to be registered blind to claim, as its not true going by this creteria and alot of people who are entitled to this may not get it.

Is there any reason why you're not registered? You have to be registered or certified blind.

If I was you, I would get a letter stating what my vision is in reference to the eye chart and go from there.

go back to your consultant. if you cant read the top line and arent registered blind, then theres something seriously not being looked at!
your sight is less than 3/60 and that makes you blind!

Moonbeam, I've just seen on the Action for the Blind site that the Guest Blogger that I was writing about has been awarded HRM from April. The first person I know that has been told they are getting it.
