i wouldnt pass the acuity test outside.
it might be just another loophole, though i think the clinical conditions are totally inadequate.
but i needs to be a level playing field!

I totally agree with nannytone, the goal posts have to be the same for everyone, daylight caused my nan incredible pain and it prevented her from seeing at all, she could see light/dark in shaded conditions in her one working eye, each eye condition is diffrent and the one way to decide anything/everything is to test everyone in the same conditions ie. lighting, distance, chart etc.

I agree but also feel it should be fair that it's done both inside or outside, as you say people are different and day light effects many.

Maybe DLA will except this, you could call them Monday and fine out.

Hi, I've been reading this thread and it has me confused.
I have had very bad eyesight since birth (1940's) and have had to wear glasses all of my life. Over the past 20/25 years things have gone from bad to worse. Without my glasses on I can only see colours and large shapes, no clarity whatsoever. With them on my eyesight if OK.

Are these tests done with glasses on or off. I can't remember what my last test was when I had new glasses as it was over 10/15 years ago.

I never knew that you could claim any sort of benefit for eyesight problems, as I just put it down to one of those things that nature dictates.

Ahhh! Sorry everyone, I have just had a look at the RNIB website and it says that it is WITH glasses on. So, OK, I can see OK for my age. No need to worry phewwww!

Yes with glasses or contact lenses if your able to wear them. It's tested at your sight at it's best, that includes help with glasses or lens.
