This according to ispreview:
ISP O2 UK Offers 3 Months FREE Broadband to Soften Blow of Recent Price HikesMobile operator and ISP O2 UK has attempted to soften the blow of recent price hikes (here) by bringing back its popular 3 MONTHS FREE Broadband service discount. The offer applies to new customers who take any one of their 'up to' 20Mbps Home Broadband packages - 'The Basics', 'The All Rounder' or 'The Works'.
However, take note that the 3 months free broadband offer ends on 30th April 2011 and is only available on 12 month contracts.

rang up today complaining about price increase. 1st she suggested new packages but said i use iplayer/sky player so basics no good.
got offered the £7/month deal for new 12 month contract on old standard (legacy) package.
i mentioned the 'free 6 months' offer and after checking i had an o2 mobile phone contact for more than 2 years, said she could offer that.
result
O2 just rang me and I said the above, retention said they could do it for £7 unlimited d/l but cannot give the free 6 months offer on old packages. Told him I knew of people that had got it and he assured me only for new packages. Never mind £7 is ok!!!The E-mail of the species is more deadly than the mail.0 -
I just called saying I'd seen the offer on their website regarding the 6 months free if i sign up to another 12 months and asked if I could stay on my current package (O2 Home Broadband Premium) and she said yes, not a problem.
So 6 months free and then 6 months at £13 which I don't mind too much, works out £6.50pm0 -
The downside is you HAVE to move onto one of the New traffic shaped packages if you are on one of the old non traffic shaped ones.
Edit: It says new customers only.0 -

Rang O2 yesterday after reading your post and I got a deal exactly like what you got.I was told free 6 months is only for new packages;so chose to stay on old standard (legacy).
I'd pay £7 rather than being "traffic managed".0 -
We were getting offered free 6 months on "old" packages when cancelling as a result of being notified of the price increases.
These increases are now in place, and so you cannot use them as a reason to cancel a contract.
It may be that the £7/month now being offered is their new retention offer for customers on old packages - maybe anyone that betters it will let us know!0 -
What is the deal with the O2 mobile phone discount - can you use someone else's mobile number (with their permission of course
) even if the account is registered in a different name and address to the broadband holder? Would this breach O2's t&cs?

You can use any mobile no. you like. The address is irrelevant, you can use a PAYG no. if you want, which is unregistered. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
-
Also the mobile can only be linked once. Or more accurately to one account at a time.Move along, nothing to see.0
