I've had O2 broadband for longer than I can remember (perhaps three years). At the start I had an O2 phone. I've since ported the number elsewhere, but they continued to give me the £5 discount.
Where do I stand with this? They've written me a letter telling me it's going up to £9.50/month which remains a good deal for me unless I consider a capped tariff. If I ring to try and get it down a little in return for signing up for 12 months on the same (unlimited) deal are they likely to realise their mistake, lose my £5 discount and make me worse off? Having said that, are they likely to realise I've no longer got an O2 phone when they put the price up at the end of March anyway?
I suppose in the worst case I can still get an O2 SIM and put £10 on it every three months.0 -

Er.. I think you'll probably find they are one and the same Dept essentially.0 -
Whats the best deal folk are getting?
I'm on the "old" premium package thats going up to 13 a month.
I think I will be able to get the six months free, provided I sign up for a 12 month deal
Is there a better route to go?
Out of interest I contacted plusnet who have a "4 months free offer". They have a no contract option ( you use your own router) where you pay a 25 quid activation fee. With the 4 months free this works out at 6.25 a month which might be an option for some.0 -
Hi Guys, Can you help me please.
Just rang o2 - spoke to a very nice chap, however I feel quite confused as to what is best to do !
We dont stream, or do the iplayer, or down load films.
He offered new packages at :-
The Basic package - 20gigs download at £8.50 per month but will let me have it for £5.50. Or
The Allrounder 100gigs at £12.50 but will let me have it for £9.50.
I told him that we are only getting about 1.5 speed anyway, and we are only 1 mile from the Exchange. !!
He then said I will send you a new Router N class for free with the Allrounder.
I could stay on my old package (Premium £10.00) with a deduction of £2.50
Please help me - so confused .....and how come they are Unable to tell you straight and outright what your Usage is anyway !! ??
Thank you
Good evening guys.
I rang o2 today. I accepted their New Contract for 12 months.
The Allrounder - six months free and after - 6 months at £12.00 and a new router delivered being tomorrow.
I think I could have got a bigger discount if I had pushed it further!!
Good luck to all. :rotfl:0 -
Sounds like you have a wiring problem inside the house - do you have extensions?
I'm almost 1.97km from the exchange and get 5.5Mb/6Mb.
Jem, Hubbie had a quick look at the wiring from the master socket tonight and there was a second filter, fitted by the Sky engineer a few months ago ......... he removed this filter and did a speed test and hey presto - 10 - 11 megs.
We will have a further and longer look at wiring and speeds this weekend.
Thanks so much for your kind help.0 -

I'm in a similar boat to this. Been with o2 a few years and paying £7.50, don't think I've had a letter yet though.
So what do I do? If I do nothing will my traffic be shaped? Or will be I have a Fair Usage Policy? Or does that all happened if I sign up to a new contract?
Pretty confused here if someone can help...0 -

Do you still have a Sky box connected to the telephone line?0 -

As I understand it, if you do nothing everything stays as-is. No capping, no shaping, same fair use policy as at present (I assume something exists at present).0 -
I still have an O2 phone.0

If you do nothing your price will rise to £9.50/month from 1/4/11. Your package will remain as it is now.
But if you are prepared to enter a new 12 month contract they will do you a deal - stick out for 6 free months. You don't have to change package (though be prepared for them attempting to persuade you to change to one of their new packages that does incorporate shaping and download limits).0
