Spoke again to o2 and they wouldnt budge even after i requested my mac code. Even thought they dispute this i think they want rid of the customers on the old tarifs.
Hope sky is ok as plan to move to them.0 -
Got my MAC, but I don't understand why I have to wait 7 days before using it, otherwise there's a £15 fine. Surely this is against 'the rules'? I guess it's to allow O2 to come back to me with an improved offer or something
Did they still offer you another 12 months at a discount per month?0 -
Good evening guys.
I rang o2 today. I accepted their New Contract for 12 months.
The Allrounder - six months free and after - 6 months at £12.00 and a new router delivered being tomorrow.
I think I could have got a bigger discount if I had pushed it further!!
Good luck to all. :rotfl:
This may be ok for you but the All Rounder is one of their new tariffs and as such is subject to the traffic shaping rules which will slow the connection down at peak times.
If you are on a legacy tariff stay on it and you can still get the free for 6 months deal.

I received my letter of the price increase and promptly telephoned O2 telling them I wanted to leave O2 because of the increase. (I am currently on O2 broadband PRO £17.50 increasing to £21.50 from March 31st)
They offered me their unlimited home telephone package at £13.77 per month (Obviously I need to switch from my current home phone provider) but for my loyalty in staying with O2 they offered me 12 months FREE broadband as part of the package with their "Works" unlimited broadband band and I can keep my current static IP address free as well
This deal is going to save me £282 over the next 12 months....£258 with the free broadband and £24 as my current BT bills average at £16 per month.
Can this offer be beaten before I bite their hand off???!!!!0 -

I don't think you can beat that ! (Although see the proviso below.)
If you went for the same landline deal with BT then basic line rental and anytime calls will be about £19 a month with BT (from April) and you would still need to pay for broadband on top of this.
So even if you got o2 to give you six months free at £21.50 that would still add an average of £10.75 a month for broadband over the year so your monthly outlay would be near £30. You are looking at less than half price at £13.77 all in.
You just need someone to confirm that "The Works" is as good as your legacy "Pro" package as it does involve a switch. That will be the real issue. If it isn't going to be as good, then plenty of people have got six months free on their legacy package as this thread testifies.0 -

Bite their hand of if you want but if you do, consider yourself to have been mugged by O2.
You may be a newbie on here but that is no excuse for not reading the posts in this thread before posting.

Whats the best deal folk are getting?
I'm on the "old" premium package thats going up to 13 a month.
I think I will be able to get the six months free, provided I sign up for a 12 month deal
Is there a better route to go?
Out of interest I contacted plusnet who have a "4 months free offer". They have a no contract option ( you use your own router) where you pay a 25 quid activation fee. With the 4 months free this works out at 6.25 a month which might be an option for some.

Plusnet have traffic management too - too much data to mull over!!!0 -

The poster was only asking if the deal is a good one....would he really be getting mugged getting line rental plus unlimited calls plus "The Works" (which is as good as it gets for new packages) for £13.77 a month? BT line rental alone costs more than that per month.
There must be someone on "The Works" here that can give an indication of how it compares to a legacy package.0 -

What difference would there be between The works package compared to old package? i called them and i was offered line rental + evening & weekend calls + The works package + new router for £10 a month only. when i queried regarding difference between my existing legacy package (which was going up to £13 with new price increase) he said only difference is the new defined fair usage policy with limit of 100GB.0
