I've heard of PIN and PUK codes, but never PAC.
PAC code stands for a 'Porting Authorisation Code'. It is the code you need to obtain from your network service provider if you wish to take your mobile number and port it out to another, i.e taking your Orange number to O2.0 -
Does anyone think I will stand much of a chance of getting a better deal with O2? I have currently battered them down to £15/per month for 200 X-Net mins (inc free black V3). I have not spoken to them for over a week now, hoped they'd call me, but no.
I will be interested to hear back from anyone, thanks.0 -
Currently on Orange 200mins (xnetwork and anytime) and 500 texts. 12 Months was up a month ago and rang today to arrange a better deal.
They didn't budge on the £30 rental at all. Used various other providers to compare and hinted I would leave if they couldn't help. So they gave me my PAC code!!
Tried again this afternoon and the guy said I could have a free upgrade but my inclusive 500 texts would run out in November.
Shocking!!0 -

Ladies & Gentlemen,
Im SURE I have got the best deal !!
Basically, I was on the £15 a month for 120 x-net mins + 30 text plan with Orange, rang them up and asked for an upgrade and what would they offer. My monthly spend varies but lately its only been around the £25-£35 bracket.
They didnt offer me anythingand just gave the PAC code
Thought Id try one more time, so rang 2 days later and spoke to someone who offered me an extra 200 x-net mins a month, a free Samsung D500, and £30 off my first bill!
So thats 320 x-net mins, 30 text, £30 off my first bill + a free fone for £15! Deal of the century or what. Anyway, went ahead with it but the guy said they had none in stock and he would ring when they did.
3 days later.. still no callback, so I rang back, spoke to the same team, and they said the offer I was given was by someone who was a trainee and from a new team and it was incorrect and subsequently they were withdrawing the offer((
I persisted, spoke to the Supervisor etc but he wouldnt budge and was sorry but he was withdrawing the offer. he said I could have 120 mins+30 text for £15 a month, just as I am now, I declined and said I would want to escalate the complaint. He said that he considered the matter closed and wouldnt take it further!
Fuming, i went away and thought about it, and really if they offer me something and I accept, its a verbal binding contract and they cant just withdraw it. So I thought I'd write in, I emailed the Executive Office, who looked into the matter and said I was right, even though their 'system' wasnt designed to accomodate the offer they made, it was a legally binding verbal contract and they would have to honour it somehow. The lady inthe Executive Office also said the complaint should have been escalated to them. She apologised and said they would proceed with it.
A few days later I have my brand shiny new Samsung D500 phone and am on a plan for £15 with 320 x-net mins + 30 text!
Moral of the story, if they offer you something and you accept, they cant just retract it willy-nilly, just persist and you will succeed!0 -
^awesome deal there..
my dad called orange a few days ago (direct to disconnections) to try and get orange OVP 500xnet + 30txts for £25/month, with a free k750i..
they would do the time (with txts for 12months), but wouldn't budge on the £20 fee for the K750i.. they also said they didn't have it in stock (those who got it previously were apparently 'testers'; charming huh?)
we left it at- they were going to call back when it comes in stock, and we would 'decide' then..
so, what should i (tell my dad to) say when they call back? -he didn't dare ask for his PAC, as he thought this would lead to his phone being (instantly) disconnected, something which he can't afford to have happen as its used for business..
so what 'happens' when u ask for the pac code? -whats the procedure? if they give it to you then what? (inc sure-fire get-out clause? and when to use it?)
any tips? or should we just try calling a few different times and hope to get lucky one time?
can you believe he actually called me naive for thinking i could get the K750i for free (after saving him £300 a year and getting 100 extra mins!). thought people from here were 'just exaggerating' or something.
would it be worth suggesting lowering the minutes (to 400/450- as i'm sure he wont use more than that) in order to try and get the phone free? or are they not able to be that flexible?
and does anyone know if unused minutes will roll over to the next month?
also if anyone is able to get a k750i then please say0 -
mb2,
the deal your dad was offered was not too shabby and would have depended on his monthly spend. £20 for the phone is a small sum to pay although others may have obtained it for free.
You could always get him to ask for his PAC. Do not give notification to terminate the contract. If the PAC is not used within a month it simply expires and he'll have to ask for another one if he wants to leave....and then the window licker said to me...0 -
he was paying £50/month for 400 mins for the last ~7 months, which is a lot more than a few people i have seen get it free with the same deal i wanted.. but then, some people only got texts for 3 months so, it could be worse i guess.. they called this morning and he paid the phone.. but its not so bad since he saved £300 (and got 30txts and 100mins more each month)
i'll remember the pac for next year lol.0 -
Thanks for the thread, I was happy with my 120 cross network min and 30 texts plan at £15 month from Orange because Orange allows free 0800 calls to Call18866 and Call1899
) But suggesting I might leave Orange had them offer me 240 minutes and a Nokia 6230 - brilliant!

i upgraded with o2 last month.
Old contract:
200 x-net mins + 500 txts = £30 p/m + £5 insurance
New contract:
200 x-net mins + 500 txts + free samsung d500 = £20 p/m and I cancelled the insurance0
