result from orange - quoted the mantra as advised and got 500 cross network minutes, 100 texts, a new samsung D600 for free and a £40 credit on my first bill all for £15 a month for 6 months and £30 thereafter.

    Happy chappie! :)

Has anyone had any luck upgrading/bartering down contracts before the contract term is up? I'm 6 months into a contract and know now that I could be getting a far better deal than my current one.

Hi, I am newbie here and chanced upon this site accidentally. I am currently on contract with vodafone on a 200 Xnet mins (stop the clock) for which I pay £31 per month, apart from a non refundable deposit of £200 towards phone at the beginning of my contract.

My contracts expiring next month, so i called up to find out if they had a better upgrade offer. They suggested that I go for a £40 per month contract which gives me 350 Xnet mins on a Sony 600 odd phone. As I am interested in the Nokia N70, I told them that O2 and three were doin better deals (they do have) and I will have to switch my network provider. I also informed them that I need my PAC code as I wished to retain my number.

They've agreed to send the PAC number in the next three days and they said that they do not have a better offer other than the one they offered. Is that the end of it?

    Please advise

O2 Liers! Rip me off big time!

    Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

I'm new to this place but since you guys are sharing your experiences with your mobile networks with everyone, I'm going to share my experience that I am having right now with the bloody O2. I am being ripped off big time by O2 but I cannot do anything about it.

They gave you bad advice there mate. You'd get billed 12p per text if you have ITS on your account (free on £30 or more per month plans, £2.99 on lower plans). It never comes out of your bolt ons unless you're sending from abroad to the UK which comes out as 1 msg = 4 allowance used. Also I think why your gf can't recieve text from you is because o2 don't have a text agreement with that particular country.

Pappuyogs - with vodafone it depends on the advisor who you speak to in regards to what deal that you get. To be fair though the deals on o2 are a lot better anyway so unless they offer you something really good, I'd move.

Thanks a lot Jarlawuk, had been considering moving...this makes my decision a lot easier.
  • I have an orange contract for 300 Orange to orange or orange to landline, togther with 500 text messages. This is due up this month, and I have received a note on this months bill saying that my text messages will vanish, but I could have £600 worth for an extra £20 per month. I have done some searching and O2 are offering their Online 200 Talker, which will give me 400 cross network minutes, and I mean cross network, together with 150 text messages. I have just called Orange and gone through the mantra as quoted, and all they can or will offer me is 300 cross network minutes and 100 text messages for the same monthly price of £30. Now my dilemma, do I change, and put up with the difficulty of transferring the number. Also all my family are on Orange, so it means I will have to call them all back! Any more ideas, or shall I swallow their pill and accept the 300. They never mentioned an upgrade on phone either....

It's fairly painless to take your number across networks now, so I'd take the number to either o2 or tmobile - both do very good direct and indirect offers regarding texts. Tariff that orange are offering you is very poor. One thing I do find is that the offers tend to be better when you have told them you've signed up already to something else, rather than you are just looking at something else.

I was on Orange xnetwork 200 last year, with average spend £35. It was time of upgrade, followed Martin's advise and no luck. No I was offered web special deal contract and a free SE K750i, but was after Nokia N70. I would take k750i if they would offer me their 500 min deal for £25 but no luck.
Then I stated that will stay with them if they could price match T-Mobile Relax 35 (12m contract 500min, 200text and directly from T-Mobile only about £27 month + I could get Qtek 9100 (MDA Vario) for only £50).
Orange refused it, also they refused to give me new customer offers.
I went to T-Mobile and so far is satisfied.

It looked that Orange is wainting for new tariffs and have tight policy at the moment.
