saver_natalie wrote:Thanks again for your help Virgo17.
Kinda do need to be on Orange unfortunately because pretty much all my friends and family are on it, and even in an age of cross-network mins, as a lot of them have PAYG or packages with just mins to Orange/landlines, it'd be difficult.
Thanks for showing mobileshop though as I've only been looking at onestopphoneshop and e2save up till now.
do you want the same deal as you have currently?
if so, phone orange retentions, i don't know the number but it is bound to be on here somewhere. tell them that you are looking to cancel your contract as you have seen better deals elsewhere (then state if you want cheaper line rental or a new phone).
if you want a new phone, make sure you know what you want, and what you want to pay for it (orange tend to charge for phones on low rental lines).
i would say, if you want to extend for another 12 months, around about £7.99 a month from £13.99 would be fair (but that wouldn't include a new phone).things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back thenMercilessKiller wrote: »BH is my best mate too, its ok

saver_natalie wrote:Aaarrrgghh....don't know if I'm doing the right thing. I stupidly clicked on the 'enquire about upgrades' thing on e2save yesterday and a woman has just phoned me and persuaded me to get an Orange contract through them and just get a new number. This will probably mean that I'll have a new number every year now. Was gonna do the port into PAYG then port out again but she says ppl are getting wise to that so may not work. Anyone done it very recently?
I've got free O2 and Virgin PAYG sims arriving soon so may as well try porting my current number anyway as I have nothing to lose and see if they allow me to port it out again.things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back thenMercilessKiller wrote: »BH is my best mate too, its ok

before hollywood,
Thanks for your input. I've already tried orange retentions and they don't seem to care whether I stay with them or go so will not offer any deal at all.
Seems that to keep my current number and stay with orange contract I have to port into PAYG then port out again because I'm not changing my contract with orange directly. Is a pain, but still.
I've managed to fob the e2save woman off for a week so can think about my options a bit more, but will prob just go for the £13.33 a month deal (after cashback) for 200x-net mins and 200texts for the first 3months. And see if I can get my number transferred into there by going via PAYG. Anyone know how long I'll have to port my number back into Orange after I'm connected with them?0 -
I was with Orange on contract £15 month 120 mins anytime any network and 30 texts for 12 months then they told me the cost was going to go up tp £25 a month.
I said I'd change to pay as you go and they said 'ok'.
So I've changed and now I've just looked at the site and I could have had a new phone, 100 mins anytime and 100 texts for £20.
Customer service stinks sometimes.
But then again I should have done some homework myself so I had some ammo to argue with. The curve that can set a lot of things straight is a smile0 -

orange just dont let you do this.... from my experience you certainly cant move the number onto a different contract even if it is still orange:A Boots Tart :A0 -
saver-natalie,
if you are having to take on another contract to get a good deal then £13/month isn't cheap. Have a look, as a starting point, at the free line rental deals on this link to ReestitMutton's site.

I've kept my number from contract to pay as you go. They sent me a paygo sim then I rang to activate it and they changed it to my contract phone number.
I did spend two days without a phone although it was supposed to only take 24 hours to activate the sim with my old numberThe curve that can set a lot of things straight is a smile0 -
Hi, I am currently with orange on YP120 (120 mins talk 30 txts plus 120 mins free no idea what this tariff is) and my bills average £30.00 plus insurance per month. I have a Nokia 6230 ideally I want a new phone, cheaper monthly charge and to keep my number.
I've just rung orange and they offered me nothing!!
Any suggestions for how I can get a new phone and keep my number. I'm not at all bothered about staying with orange.
Help needed please!!!0 -

I thought the £15 deal I had was only for 12 months but turns out it will last until August (18 months). After than time I will check upgrade status again. If they aren't budging then will sign up for a new contract with a new provider, port my existing number to them and get a better free phone and probably a better tariff.
I know of others with Orange who have a slightly higher monthly spend but got k7050i as a free upgrade. Orange wanted to charge me £179.99 said the availability is all worked out by the computer (a la Little Britain).
Obviously not bothered about me staying.....Since light travels faster than sound, some people appear bright until you hear them speak.0 -

When you know which company you want to go to get the phone you want, just tell them you want to keep your number. They will tell you what to do to transfer your number to your new supplier (you have to get some sort of code from your present supplier) but when I transfered from Vodaphone to Orange it took up to 10 days to change the number. Then I've kept the same number from Orange contract to Orange paygo, another two days waiting.
Sometimes its just eaasier to use a new number. The curve that can set a lot of things straight is a smile0
