I think i win this one.
I didn't want a snazzy new phone (this my 2nd contract to supplement my killer 18month deal on voda).
i had a 750 mins a month deal on t-mob for £14.99 a month, plus £5 a month insurance.
had it for 2 years but not used at all for 2 months cos i lost the sim.
phoned up tonight to cancel, they had a problem finding me cos i moved away last year and came back to same address a couple of months later.
Turns out they had me at the old address and they had to put me through to a manager to authorise it.
The manager was particualrly keen to keep me as a customer and offered me the same deal as i have had but for £3.99 a month!!!!
Thats £3.99 A MONTH!!!!!
Have had to pay £10 for a replacement sim but once its all settled an sent i will be able to cancel my insurance and then i will have:
nokia 6230- voda 18mnth contract 100anytime cross net mins, 250 txt, free weekend calls plus insurance £30 per month.
nokia 3410- t-mob 12mnth renewal contract- 750 mins (off peak, same net), including £10 monthly loyalty bonus- £3.99 a month
it will all work fine if they don't mess up the vat (i.e charging me the vat on the original price plan as opposed to the discount plan).
not bad eh?things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back thenMercilessKiller wrote: »BH is my best mate too, its ok

my advice- if you have been with them a couple of years they can be pretty obliging- would like to see another network match my t-mob deal

That's a great deal 'before hollywood' - I presume that you don't call across network then / call peak?0

Called to cancel daughter's O2 phone last night. Intended going to Vodafone, using https://www.dialaphone.com who offered an enhanced Vodafone tariff @ £35 pm and free extras.
Bottom line is - O2 offered me 200 cross network and 500 texts for £14 pm, incl new phone (and new number) to stay. So I did.
I'm happy!0 -
I've tried to get Orange to offer me a better deal but either I'm shocking at negotiating or they're being extra stingy with me (probably the first one) and they don't seem to want to budge at all. In fact they seemed more than happy to just disconnect me… how unwanted am I??? I spend roughly £30/ £40 a month so I'm not exactly a low low user...
Basically I don't really want to leave the Orange network because my girlfriend and most of my mates are with them, but I really need a new phone (the old one died in the Glastonbury mud) and I'd like a nice new deal too.
Is there anything stopping me from cancelling my current deal (I'm past my original 12 month contract so I should be able to cancel at any time) and then opening up another orange contract giving me a nice new phone & all the goodies you get with becoming a new member (the only downside being I'd get a new mobile number)?
Cheers for your help

Trist,
If you spoke to Orange customer services then they don't have the option to give you the best deals. Call disconnections (customer retentions) on 0800 079 2288 and say that you are thinking of leaving and would like your PAC code. They should offer you a good deal from then on. Plus a new phone of course......and then the window licker said to me...0 -

This is a rough transcript of the (very brief) conversation…
Through the usual checks and things….
Me "I'm unhappy with the deal that I'm on, I've seen better deals advertised elswhere and I'm thinking of leaving".
Orange "Sorry to hear that, what was the deal that you've seen?"
Me "Three mobile are offering 500 cross-network minutes plus 100 free texts every month for £20, plus you get a new phone".
Orange "Will you be wanting to keep your existing numbner?".
Me "Um… yes".
Orange "I'll send your PAC code to your mobile & you can then pass that onto you new provider".
Me "Um… ok".
… and that was it. What now? I clearly need to work on my negotiating skills...0 -
My advice, leave Orange. Start a new contract with O2 for example or Three, there are very good deals out there, particularly in the high street for new connections. You can still PAC out your current number (as Orange said).0

I'd rather not switch networks. Do you think I could start a new contract with Orange (thus getting a new phone, hands free kit & cash back bonus's) and use the PAC to keep my existing Orange number? Or will they block it? I'm not really too sure how it all works to be honest.
If I can't, then I'll just open a new Orange account with a new number, collect my freebies & shut down my existing contract. Does that make sense??? So confusing….0 -
I took out another number (line) with Orange last year and benefitted from a new connection deal, so you could certainly do that. Then you could give notice on your current line. As for the mobile number PAC to another Orange number, sure, I don't see why not :-)0
