Batter down your mobile contract cost

Beofre your contract is up they can give you your PAC code but will want to charge, as an incentive to stay. When your contract is up they will most likely give it for free, but they don't have to.
Hope That Helps,

Im on leisure 500 (that's 500 off peak minutes a month.)
Calls other nokia mobiles are 5p off peak / 15p on peak.
I've been on this at least 5 years but there are finally tariffs which beat it.
So I rang up choose the option to disconnect, there is actually a message saying, operators on this line can only disconnect customers nothing else...
After a little haggling they offered to partly match an offer on the e2save website:
500 x/network minutes
100 text messages
£40 monthly line rental with 10 months at half price.
and a nokia 6680 at £150
I decided to leave it and wait a few days, I was then called by another lady who seemed to have even more authority to get a better deal. She offered the same deal as above but the phone for £40! I ended the conversation telling her I wanted some time to think about it she told me I could not contact her again but I took the chance.
On calling back a third time the operator could not offer the same deal as before, he actually told me she was from their retention department and they are their last line to stop people leaving, he could only offer me the original deal with the phone at £150 which I declined.
I don't really mind as I'll get a better deal on three anyway but this info might help someone keen to stay on vodafone.

I also put on my 'bartering jacket' and spoke to O2 (retentions dept).
After a while and twice being put on hold, they came back with their "final offer". I could upgrade now (2 months early, before the 12 month expires), have a free Motorola V3 (black) - more importantly....tariff ... O2 xNet 200mins for £15.
They did try offering 500mins for £25 - but minutes only save you money if you use them - which I don't that much.
After paying £30+ for the same deal before, I am chuffed with this reduced line rental.
NB: I have three lines, so I thought I'd try to play each provider off one another, but Vodafone didn't give a monkey's....I guess they don't want to keep their customers!0 -

Well, no! No inclusive text messages.....yet!
Tomorrow I will do just that and also try for free itemisation - wish me luck!0 -
It's taken 4 days to haggle with Vodafone, but I've finally made a break through. Turns out -depending on who you speak to some 'account managers' have more of an 'allowance' to give - if you catch someone at the end of the month you can get unheard of deals. This is what i've just got:
200 X network anytime minutes, stop-the-clock (where eve & w/end calls - only the 1st 3 mins in any hour count) 250 txts, all for £25 per mth inc VAT BUT 1st 10 mths line rental 1/2 price. I've had to pay £35 +VAT for snazzy Sharp GX30i and I've had to sign up for 18mths, but first 3 mths insurance is free (£7.95 thereafter) but have made a diary note to cancel before I'm charged.
I've never had mobile insurance before. Anyone know where's best to get it?0 -

Can I jump on the band wagon please?
I'm currently on O2, £20 per month for 500 off peak calls to O2 and landlines (which I hardly use) and 500 free texts (which I do). Contract is up 10th August. Can renew and get new phone (which I don't really need, but it would be nice anyway  ) but here's the thing....
I really want x-network mins. I don't make many calls but when I do they are usually in the daytime and expensive, so I keep getting stung for calls on top of my monthly tariff
I've found a phone on Link (rpoints - 2.5% rebate plus 1000 points) which works out to the same cost over 18 months with 300 texts and 750 x-network mins - with the text add-on - cheaper taking into account the saving on daytime calls. Swanky video phone too (but I'd never use it!)

To be honest I don't need that many call minutes, and I'm not wild about having to re-claim the rental by cash-back, coz I'll forget....
I'd rather stick with O2 but get the line rental down and some x-network mins. I've read the article, but any hints and tips before I pick up the phone would be really welcome.. ....
Thanks guys :beer:I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
Excuse my ignorance, but what is a PAC code?
I've heard of PIN and PUK codes, but never PAC.0 -

Hi,
02 have a new sim only deal which gives you 400 xnetwork minutes and 1000
texts per month for £30. This is also on a pay as you go kind of deal so you are not tied into a contract, allowing you to change if it doesnt work for you.
You can also keep the same number if you ring and tell them you want to change to that tariff, it is called 02 online extra and can be found HERE0
