  • Quick question Fred, I thought camp 1 was a 2200ft climb from base camp? I thought I'd got there - have I worked it out wrong?

SGTG - i think its 2200 to camp 1 on the picture, and 2430 on the graph, i guess it depends where exactly you want to pitch your tents! (or which route up the mountain its based on!) I was trying to think of a wisecrack to do with Everest being two faced but don't seem to have my comedy head on just yet today :)

Fred - my mountain climbing total (up to today) should be 3175' , i think you maybe missed that day when i did 150 flights and then burnt out!! No point changing it on your chart yet though, cos following meeting with dietician this morning, im all positive again, crampons fitted and ready to go, so there'll (probably) be more to add by tonight, lol!!!

Thanks for the charts fred. Haven't done anymore steps yet but will do some more this afternoon (can't let Mandz beat me to the top!! ;))

:TWell done everyone who lost and/or climbed this week! :T

safesound, well done on getting into the size 16s! :j

Woo hoo hope you're having a fab time Mazza!

good luck in your exams countrymusicfan!

alliwant - I am interested in the couch to 5k programme, I have never been a runner but I love the idea that I might be one day! Plz can you give me the URL? I googled it but got so many results i'm not sure what's the right thing! Thanks :)
After my run/walk yesterday today my hips and bottom have been killing me. It has been so painful to sit down but I have to for work. Someone tell me it is all going to be worth it ??? In fact walking up and down the stairs at work today helped to ease some of the stiffness. I don't know how I am going to manage run 2 tomorrow  But providing hell doesn't freeze over I will do my best to go tomorrow ( I have lost the plot I think!)

no pain no gain right ;) make sure you do lots of stretches before and after your runs, might help reduce the next day stiffness. I get the same thing after cycling. Painful, but at least u know ur muscles are working.

Yesterday i did a 12 mile walk with sweetcheeks13 (and then pigged out). Today i went to the gym (and then pigged out again). I havent done any virtual mountaineering for a few days (will get back into that tomorrow fingers crossed). It feels like I'm swimming against the current and i know exactly why...I'm my own worst enemy.

your habits sound similar to mine puds - exercise and then binge and defeat it all. I usually reson with myself that it's ok to eat badly cos I have done some exercise, but really it is self-defeating activity. Just another annoying mental habit that needs to be recognised and addressed :(

Victory - i dont use measurements but for lentil soup I tend to only add enough water/stock to just cover the lentils / ingredients whilst they cook, then when the lentils are cooked you get a really thick soup which you can add more liquid to as you blend it to get the consistency you prefer.

Hello all. How are we doing today? Not long got back in from the gym. I'm glad I went as didn't sleep well last night so woke up tired but I'm refreshed now after my workout on the crosstrainer 1 hour, Climbed 100 floors on the floor-climbing machine, 100 pull-ups on the pull-up machine but the weights was helping so I wasn't pulling my body weight up :rotfl:, I also did 100 leg pushes on this (weight 30)leg-press-machine.jpg

No prob Betty it may be far to basic for such a fit person as yourself

Hope to get out in the next hour but blowing 20 MPH gusts here at present and I don't want to be trying to jog in that
My hips and bottom are still achy today but a few runs and up down those stairs seem to help a little.

Puddings - glad you are back posting I thought we had lost you of the edge of Everest or something ;) how did the appointments go today ?

thanks! I found some info on the programme here: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml
    Is this the same thing??
I didnt know you could get free podcasts (also didnt know it had anything to do with the NHS!) so big thanks!

Not going to be too basic for me - I can manage most exercise but running has always defeated me! I am just awful. So this will be very helpful i'm sure.

Hope you manage to battle the wind today!!

I have such faith in you that you will do it Ted. Its a long and hard road but everytime you binge is probably one less time you will ever do it. That feeling of guilt afterwards will slowly get bigger and outway the need for the binge.
