Hi all,
Would you mind if I join you?
Welcome to the thread. You're more than welcome.
My BMI is around 22, and I only want to lose around 14- 21 lbs. I have been out of work since October after graduating in July, so days have mainly been spent sat around job searching, thinking about food and eating. I've found work now, and I start next week. Unfortunately it is an office job (not want I went to uni for, but hey it's a start) so it does mean more sitting around. However, I hope the fact I am busy will stop me thinking about food, and been away from home I won't just be able to grab food when I want. It's also not too far from home, and in Summer it will be a really nice 20 minute walk away.
Yeah I currently do some casual work, and I find that time away from home is better for me than when I'm home, though either way I'm still strict lol.I've recently cancelled the gym. My boyfriend signed us both up as his work runs a scheme to get membership cheap. I've realised the gym is just not for me. I was a member of a different gym last year and I had the same problem there, I just get bored!
I have tried a couple of body combat sessions but at the moment can't afford to do it. Last week I ordered 5 of the ten minute solutions exercise DVD's, and I've done 40 mins each day. I am getting a bit bored now. Hopefully when pay day comes I will get the wii fit plus and biggest loser games. I'm just trying to find something that keeps my attention.
You sound exactly like me. When I first started on my weight loss journey, I was using the treadmill religiously, but got too bored of that easily.
You can always do an intense workout programme like Insanity, P90x or the one I'm doing now, TurboFire. Personally, that's my order of intenseness (hardness) of those 3 workout programmes. TurboFire is really fun though and brings about sweat and sore muscles at the same time, since you have to repeat things so many times lol. If you love incorporating dance into exercise, then TurboFire is right for you. I currently love Insanity the best.Food wise, I'm trying to stick to 1400 calories or less, and I have been keeping a food diary which is really helping a lot. Typically I'm eating around 200 calories for breakfast (normally porridge), 300 calories for lunch which is usually something like a wholemeal pitta bread with tuna, or cous cous, and around 700 calories for tea. I am allowing myself 100 calories worth of sweet snacks a day, such as a little packing of Cadbury buttons. I've tried to stop chocolate and sweets completely, but I find I'm thinking about it all of them time and end up eating a huge bar instead.
So that's it. Looking forward to getting to know everyone
That looks good. But really depends on how many calories you burn each day in terms of how much you should eat, and also depends on how much you want to lose per week. Also, again with the sweety stuff, I was also like you, allowing myself to have 2 little pieces of chocolate a day (about 50-80 cals worth depending on chocolate), but realised that every calorie counts, so recently changed this to having 2 little pieces a day on the weekend only. Gives me more cals to work with on my dinner/lunch/breakfast. Not saying you should do the same, as everyone's will power is different at the end of the day, but if you think you can cope with having 100 cals worth every 2 days, then change it to that. If and when you try it, you think you'd end up binging on the days you don't have it, then revert back to having 100cals a day. It's the little things that make a difference.
The weird thing with me is, I was never a chocolate addict, I'd have maybe a chocolate bar every 2 weeks or something and most months, 1 bar every month, but strange how when I've started my weight loss journey, i'm having more than i used to have lol.0 -

Me and my OH got into a routine of watching tv with a bar of chocolate or a pack of sweets a few nights a week. I was never that into chocolate before we got together, same with takeaways and now I just cannot resist a chinese! Hopefully in a months time I will be able to stop the chocolate every day. I haven't actually eaten it everyday this week, but I like knowing I have the calories to do so. If I didn't eat it I would just end up having less calories that day. I'm full after each of my main meals, so I don't need anything extra there. My main problem is snacking. Around 10ish I'm starting to get hungry, and again at 3ish.
Tomorrow will be a tough day. I'm at the football, leaving around 10am and probably not getting home til 8pm. The stadium is apparently right nextdoor to a McDonalds. Plus there will be a few service station breaks. Temptation nightmare!!0 -
Ah, what did you graduate in? I graduated 3 years ago this summer in business/tourism. No sign of a career yet but i have a job in the pipeline if i want it (but i don't really, but i do).
English - not exactly a practical choice now the job market's gone to pot!
I really want to get into writing but it's so difficult, I'm mainly doing it on the side. I don't even have anything in the pipeline at the moment- there are very few suitable job where I am. I've just come back from a shop-floor trial at Lush where I got turned down!

You'll find something! There aren't many good jobs around here either, i'm having to look around London just to like the look of something.
Hello to lex! I had a best friend called lex. Just thought you should know that0 -

Yeah i understand you. As in, just in case you have that craving, you know you won't go above your calorie limit, because you've already saved up some of your cals for that specific reason, so either way you don't feel guilty.
Hmm, personally, i don't snack, but if I were to snack, i'd probably have an orange or apple, apples are very filling.
Haha, personally the only temptation McDonalds holds for me is their milkshakes and mcflurry. Don't they sell anything healthy there, any sort of salad or something? I know alot of fast food restaurants have like chicken salads and stuff. I haven't been to McD's to eat since I was 10 (although i used to go there for their milkshakes and mcflurrys) so im not totally sure if they do any salads.0 -
