Sary - spreadsheet hell? aw! If its excel that you use I'll gladly set them all up for you if you like - or teach you some shortcuts and formulae if you'd rather diy. You know im on facebook if you need anythingcountrymusicfan wrote: »
Sari, how are the spreadsheets?
Thanks for the offer of help Puds. I may well ask for some help in the future, if things get more complicated.
I was rather proud of myself being able to do the formulae, and the spreadsheet is now printed off, and put in with my folder for standard recipes. It will make pricing up orders so much easier in the future.
Good to hear from you Sary - Hope the biz is going well. Are you still doing SW? Hows Master Sary getting on???
Thanks Betty. Things are progressing well. They never go as quickly as you want, and of course critically, it won't matter how great my spreadsheets or website look if I don't get regular orders in. My next task is to do some marketing, which is the really, really scary part for me. I'm not very good at putting myself forward, so this isn't so much as stepping outside my comfort zone, as dangling from a mahoosive helicopter over an active volcano kind of comfort for me!
Master Sary and I are still doing SW, although the half term week, and last week were more 'off plan' than on, but we've both been back on it again this week. Master Sary got his Club 10 2 weeks ago too, so he's dead chuffed, and got a letter through the post from SW congratulating him.
How are you finding the new healthy eating plan is working for you now?
Moneysavingmam - SW now give each member a PIN code when you sign up, and you use that to access the online features. As each PIN code is attributed to each membership card number, they cannot be shared, unlike the weekly password. If you go to the SW thread on this site, or other forums like minimins, there are lots of SW members there who can find out syn values, and information for you... very often a google search will throw up the answer already on one of those sites.
Beanie - so sorry to hear of you falling twice in one day. How terribly frustrating for you, but glad to hear someone stopped to help you. How are you doing now?
Victory - thank you for letting us know how you are. No words can offer suitable sympathy or support, so I hope you are finding those close to you are. Eldest DS will find that life may be a bit more free and easy away from home, but it's not home. Boys do seem to feel the need to spread those wings and assert themselves much more than girls do I have found. My only advice is to maintain lines of contact.
I'm glad you OH is being supportive, it is difficult to support someone when they're bereaved, and you have the added problem of your depression, which was already descended before the death of your mother.
I understand totally how grief can overwhelm you, and as someone who was widowed not many years ago, can I just gently say not to take your eye of the ball where your youngest DS is concerned? I know it takes enormous effort, and I had to do the same, but he's still very young and vulnerable, so it's important to ensure he still feels he has you watching out for him, IYKWIM. That's by no means a criticism, just some friendly advice from someone who knows. Take care.
I've been a good girl so far this week and been making it to the gym. I'm trying to work my other activities around those regular trips, so that I don't have to beat myself up about it and feel guilty. It was harder going on Monday when I went, and I am convinced it's due to having eaten poorer quality foods when out and about. OH and I agreed that if we have to go off on our travels again in the near future, we are going to do a healthy pack-up, so that we can feel better.
As for giving anything up for Lent. Yesterday I was making Oreo and Easter chocolate cupcakes, and the smell of chocolate just made me feel sick in the end. I admit a few flake pieces made their way into my mouth, but I soon learnt my lesson, and I reckon I will make chocolate my sacrifice of choice for the next 46 days. I don't like pancakes, although I made them for the children yesterday, so fortunately didn't have to eat those and waste calories there.
Well done on the losses guys. Commiserations to the gainers, and tomorrow is another day, and the start of a brand new week for anyone in need of a fresh start. One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing
Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home0 -
Fred - please put me down for a 2lb loss - only just crept into second pound.
I have been to the gym and swimming a lot but the results are taking a long time to be seen. I really was hoping for 5lb a month but I'm only 6lb down from the start of the yearNot Rachmaninov

I don't understand weight loss, people can tell me its cals in versus cals burnt but I really don't think its that simple.
Once again this week I'm STS but the ONLY time I've been (even a little) bit naughty was eating a bag of chip shop chips for tea last night AND I compensated by not having a snack and yet there has been weeks where I've eaten a takeaway curry and a KFC and still shown a loss. I don't get it.
Okay moan overwith. This week I am going to think positive, up my exercise, remove the cheese from my lunch (usually ham & cheese salad sarnie) and swap my evening snack to a tangerine/banana. I WILL show a loss this time next week I SWEAR it.:A:A:A:A:A:A0 -
well done losers :T
I'm a STS this week but it's * week so not going to feel to sad about not losing.alliwantistosave wrote: »Betty - Your bike ride sounds lovelyI hope your OH enjoyed it too?
Thanks, yeh he loved it - he is a cycling enthusiast, used to cycle to work every day when we lived in london. I enjoy but but I suspect I just slow him down most of the time, hehe!somethingsgottogive wrote: »Fred, thats 2314ft completed now - that means I've hit camp 1 right!?

Well done to Master Sary :j Glad SW is still working for you.
Glad to hear the biz is going well and best of luck with the advertising / marketing.
A very cheap way of getting started would be to start a Facebook page and a Twitter account, to keep people updated on the new flavours you are 'inventing', any events or fetes you are attending, special offers, etc etc. You could also ask customers to put a review up on the facebook page!
I am getting my head round my healthy eating plan now, mostly concentrating on assessing the choices I make and why I make them. it's helping me analyse my behaviour and determine why I act the way I do around food. I am keeping an eye on calories and portion sizes too.
OH is very supportive and we have both given up alcohol for lent!!
Did a long walk into and around town today, stopped at Costas for lunch and had a skinny hot choc and a mozzarella panini. It felt good not having cake as well, as I realised the hot choc gave me the sugary taste i need with a lot less cals. For me it's often a taste craving rather than an actual hunger for a particular food.
Also bought some snazzy new running/gym trainers today - hopefully they will encourage me to keep on exercising! Got them on sale! Plus, my feet are small so I can buy kids size 5 which are much cheaper than adults!!Betty B: The Eternal Procrastinator....

The only thing I can think of is possible water retention from too much salt on the chips last night? Also, if you've been exercising you could have lost 'fat' but also gained muscle weight - and lost cms/inches instead of weight. Are you keeping track of your measurements at all?Paying off CC in 2011 £2100/£1692

As a rule I dont tend to eat much salt so it is a possibility especially as when I weighed mid week (Sunday) I had lost 3lbs, I just dont want to delude myself and make excuses ya know?
I had also thought that maybe it was a inch loss week rather than a weight loss week, but I'm not keeping track of my measurements so I cant be sure. I think maybe I will start though as that way I will know for sure if it happens again.
On a related subject, I tried on my size 16 jeans the other day and I got them on, they were too tight to wear anywhere but at home but at least they did up :j
I was a size 22 when I started dieting back last October so the faint glimmer of wearing a size 16 within a month or so has really helped my motivation.:A:A:A:A:A:A0 -

C25K is the couch to 5 km challenge which is a running for beginners programme. I was looking to run the race for life in July but thought I'd start slowly. Glad you are still keeping well and your challenges still make me feel like hiding under sofa
I have heard about the C25K but I just wasn't sure what it entailed, seems a popular way to start though! Good luck with your training and it's definitely a good idea to build up slowly.
As for my challenges, I never EVER imagined I'd be doing what I'm doing! There are posts from me here in the early days saying I couldn't and wouldn't "do running" :rotfl: and I know I'm not the only one here who's surprised themselves by what they're capable of! I'm also in my second year of springboard and platform diving training. I mean, WTH?!
Margaretclare, I drink between 2.5 and 3.5 litres of water (sometimes more) every single day, keep a tight control on what I eat and exercise a lot, but I'm also a really slow loser! I've been lucky and lost a bit in the last few weeks but all last year I struggled. It can be so frustrating can't it?
Safesound, in my experience it's definitely not as simple as calories in, calories out. I find most of the approaches I've tried (incl cals in/out) have worked for me at some point, and not at others. Not a lot we can do except keep trying! Better luck next week.
Anyway, half marathon for me today (2nd in 2 weeks), 21.5km run. Going to tone the running down a little bit now for a couple of weeks to give my legs a rest before building up again!
Good luck with weigh ins today!0 -

I wish I could drink more water. I only really drink water when I'm in the gym during my workout but I did have a cup of water today as I've given up pop, squash and fizz for Lent :jSECRET TO WINNING PRIZES:
