Hi there,
I have several accounts with HSBC, i have my wages paid in to one and have not been overdrawn for 4 years.
Last saturday i received a phone call from my local branch asking me if i wanted to go in to their branch to 'review my account', which i read as them having an opportunity to try and sell me accounts/services i dont need!
Not necessarily. I am no longer conveniently near my branch account due to moves over the years etc. so I got this contact which they now and then renewed. I actually hoped they would run through some savings possibilities with me but when I finally got there it was just checking through my identity, address, etc. to verify their records.
You know how when you do the slightest new thing like close an annual saver and open a new one banks and bs's 'need' (they say) to make checks and you have to tell them the fully documented story of your life again? They probably 'need' to do that also when you are not doing the slightest new thing. As you have not collaborated they may have decided not to take the risk that you are still you.Sorry my posts so long - not time write shorter ones.0 -

Poor, poor redcard, who said anything about a bank clerk? Tut tut...you should really pay attention!
Once again though, thanks for the thoroughly useful reply, so helpful.0 -

Don't laugh at me... PPR'd means????I work for first direct and have previously worked for Santander.
Any information I give should not been seen as being given from first direct or Santander however I do have certain knowledge from working there.
Thank you, Chrissy :wave:0 -
Yes i know i should follow that advice and leave......but i really am rather keen to 'win' somehow and get my account back (then i may leave of my own accord but boy id like to go in to my branch and speak to the lady who rote that letter to gloat about having my account back!!)

She will just think you are a sad git and may pity you.0 -

PPR = Posting Privileges Removed
Basically it is a ban by the site team on a user posting on the forum. In this case, said user was being particularly nasty.Best Regards

I used to work at LTSB and in the beginning, my job was to offer these reviews to customers. Yeah most of the time the bank is wanting to do a sales push and ideally make sure you have all your financial products with them - credit cards, current account, savings, insurance etc. .
I'm with LTSB and recently had a letter saying something like
We've been trying to phone you about your account.... da di da
please contact (a name) at the branch
signed manager
I immediately thought they've noticed strange activity so when I rang the person wasn't a available so I rang back later and was flabbergasted when the young sounding person said
We've noticed your house insurance was due to be renewed soon and wanted to talk to you about it.
I just hung up0
