HSBC closed my account and i never did find out why.

I was not bothered, as i had only been with them about 2 years for banking - but then they closed my credit card aswell - and i had been with them for 20 years without problem.

They said the request to terminate business with me had to include ALL HSBC products.

Did have any charges from HSBC on any of your accounts or was there maybe something on your credit file ?

In your sig there are a list of banks that you won against and you have HSBC listed there if you took HSBC to court that could be why they chose to close your account.

I took them to court after they closed my account - it felt great - like i had got revenge :D

I had never been overdrawn on my HSBC current account though, so it made no sense at the time. Maybe my credit rating went below a level at the time they consider acceptable.

I could not care less to be honest - but think they should have the guts to tell you why - as in the many cases of people with paypal.

All i got was "we don't want to do business with you any more".

It sounds as if you may have got caught up in the review of accounts that is mentioned here.

If the bank suspected money laundering or any unusual behaviour then I don't think they are allowed to tell you why they are closing your account.

Hmm that is very odd, i think its a 'BANKS RIGHT' to tell you why an account is closed because you are the account holder...so far i put money in my HSBC account now and then just to shut them up. My credit score is fantastic 100% lol so they HAVE NO REAL reason to close my account and if they do, i will file a court order against them (which will cost them more money)

the woman at HSBC said to me TSB/HALIFAX will show you no LOYALTY and thank you for joining HSBC

(this was like 2 weeks ago well almost 2 weeks ago)

so lets see... if HSBC threat to close my account.... because TSB/HALIFAX have never made threats and i've been with them FOR YEARS.

The bank has the right to end your relationship with no reason. The same way you can end your relationship with no reason.

So you've seen your internal score with HSBC?

You'll waste your money on a claim which you'll lose. The bank will probably then claim against you for their costs.

They don't need a reason. Neither do they have to justify why they are closing your account.

Ladylouise62, thank you bery much for that email address.
Iereboy, thanks for your wish of luck, appreciate that too!!

Hollieanx, i really really wish i could have put in my first post how the lady who rang me off a number i didn't recognise immediately said "Is this Mr XXXXX?",
I replied "Yes, who is this please?"
She didn't and then replied with "I need you to confirm your post code to verify your identity?"
To which i replied "Yes i can but please can you answer my question and tell me who you are?".....then she announced who she was so you will see that she kind of started things off an a rude note.

    Anyway, Developments:
Against some people's advice on this thread, I wrote my letter to Stuart Gulliver, explained the facts, welcomed him to listen to the call and asked him why my local branch sent me the letter they did.......

.....today i had a missed call from the lady who originally rang me and a very humble voice message politely asking if i could possibly ring her tomorrow...!
So, we will see what tomorrow brings....

looks like the women must of killed you then ,as we have had no response .Shame ,I was looking forward to hearing the end result .

True... but im not one of these people who just 'let it go and walk away'

HSBC threatens to close my account with out a reason then something isnt right (and im clean not a drug dealer or anything lol)

my credit score is 100% because i've never owed money never been in debt and never had a credit card i saw my score when i opened the account with HSBC

    so its obvious its 100%

My post was actually replying to techspec

If I'm correct, your HSBC account is still open and HSBC haven't told you they are closing it..

However, even if any bank was to decide (for whatever reason) they didn't want you as a customer then they are entitled to do so without telling you why - in fact under certain circumstances they are legally not allowed to tell you why.

Your score may actually not be that great because you don't hold any credit products.. you don't get a credit score of 100% just like that - though you may indeed have a good credit record
