OT but since we have matress experts on here. I've bought two mattresses in a row now where within short order the spings are sticking up and jabbing me in the ribs whenever I lie on my front. What make etc should I look for in future to avoid this problem? I have a metal frame bed with wooden slats.

What is the make and model of the faulty mattresses?
  • I ordered items for xmas from Argos which with the snow situation were never delivered to my home. After xmas I contacted Argos only to be told that in their system the ordered was logged as delivered! After a few more phone calls they informed me that the courier scanner had the wrong address on its system and the items had been delivered to another address. They then told me to go to that address and see if my goods where there! Thankfully the goods were at the address but i still had to waste my time searching for them- totally defeating the purpose of a home delivery service! Am I legally entitled to pay for items that have not been delivered to my address?

    I shouldn't think so.

I can't believe that they told you to go to that address to collect them. it is up to them to correct the mistake and go and collect the items. Then if they are unopened, deliver them to you.

It still makes no difference. If someone had just looked at the one bed, how would they have known what others were on offer. Nonetheless, it doesn't matter, because the picture shown, clearly has drawers, the description does not say that it doesn't come with drawers, therefore Argos are guilty of misrepresentation.

Sorry, but that's a mute point, how many people only look at one bed? If you're gonna be spending a couple of hundred quid on something, then u don't just buy the first one that comes up, you compare a few, well I certainly would

Then you are one of the lucky ones, who has the luxury to be able to afford more for a bed.

No I would shop around to find a bed that a) was within my price range. b) suitable to my needs. I only paid £90 for my bed base in the sale. Getting a decent mattress separately. Not the best bed in the world but ideal for my needs.

It was a cheap bed, how many options do you think she had?
Several when looking at the Argos web site.
The bed was bought in a sale.

Yes and the price difference between the sale price that the OP paid for it, and the one with the drawers is around £85, not the amount that the OP stated.
If everyone did that Argos would not sell any beds (or any other product for that matter), would they. Argos do not allow you to try it first.

Exactly, but there are other people sell these beds, I've made the mistake of buying a bed from Argos without trying it, big mistake. Of course you can only properly test a bed by sleeping in it. Again I'm not knocking the OP for this. It's just not what I would do when buying a bed.

If you were buying a fridge that was shown in the picture with an ice maker in the door, then unless it was offered as an option, or it actually said that the ice maker wasn't included, then you would expect to receive a fridge with an ice maker.

No, I would ask if it comes with an icemaker or if it was an extra. Maybe it's just me, but I'm very careful when it comes to spending money :rotfl:I class these things as major purchases, and just wouldn't go into them lightly. I've learned my lessons the hard way

They should just give a full refund, and change their web site so that it doesn't confuse any more buyers.

Which is what I've already stated. The OP doesn't seem to want that from what I've read of her posts? Or am I reading them wrong?

You are expected to pay anything which you have purchased and received. It doesn't make any difference how those items got into your possession. However, I am curious as to why they gave details of the other address, I find it very odd.

I suspect that it may have been a time issue. They would have to collect the item, return it to a depot, then redistribute to another courier and have them delver it. They may have taken up to four working days. But I don't understand why it would have stayed at the other address for a whole month?

Obviously the OP, but that is not any business of ours or Argos. Nor does it absolve them of their responsibility.

Yes and the price difference between the sale price that the OP paid for it, and the one with the drawers is around £85, not the amount that the OP stated.

Perhaps you are looking at a different bed to the OP.
Exactly, but there are other people sell these beds, I've made the mistake of buying a bed from Argos without trying it, big mistake. Of course you can only properly test a bed by sleeping in it. Again I'm not knocking the OP for this. It's just not what I would do when buying a bed.

I really don't think that you would. Would you ask if it came shelves, a door handle and little light that turns on when you open the door?
Which is what I've already stated. The OP doesn't seem to want that from what I've read of her posts? Or am I reading them wrong?

I can't blame her. She was effectively promised a product at a specific price and has now found out that she has to pay more if she wants what she was offered. I would wish to get that, wouldn't you?

No one is saying Argos is in the right here. There responsibility is to supply the bed that was purchased, which they have done. Wrongly they have misled the customer into believing this is was a bed with drawers. Again, all the customer can expect is to reject the goods under DSR.

I have no idea what this has to do with the OP's issues with Argos.
It has nothing to do with Argos, it was to do with the fact that I was questioned on financial status when buying a bed, d'oh!

Like I said, some people are luckier than othersp

How is looking at a website being luckier than others?

Perhaps you are looking at a different bed to the OP.

I am comparing both the bed the OP bought and the EXACT same bed with 2 Drawer Option, which are BOTH available from Argos.

But Argos don't allow you to try the bed first. As you found out, some people don't try before they buy.

Exactly, that's why IIIIIII would never buy a bed without trying it. Not saying other people shouldn't. I've made the mistake before, as previously stated.

I really don't think that you would. Would you ask if it came shelves, a door handle and little light that turns on when you open the door?
An ice maker is an extra, shelves aren't. However if it came to shelves, and it had a bottle holder shelf underneath, then yes I would ask if that shelf came as standard. As it's not a standard shelf.

I can't blame her. She was effectively promised a product at a specific price and has now found out that she has to pay more if she wants what she was offered. I would wish to get that, wouldn't you?

No one is in any doubt that Argos have ***ked up here. But I can't see her getting any more than full refund, including delivery. I still think that too much emphasis is being put on a picture. Would I expect to get more than that? No, that's about the best I could expect. Should I wish for more? Probably. Would I get more? Probably not. Would I find myself in this position? I seriously hope not. As I said, I've made daft mistakes like this in the past, i'm now more canny with my money and major purchases are and always will be looked into deeply before committing to buy. I realise the OP was under time restraints with Grand (da/ma) moving in(cba going back to beginning and reading again) and sometimes we make mistakes of buying on impulse just for the sake of getting things moving.

I have to disagree, many are saying that Argos have done everything correct, even down to some irrationally believing that the description says, "no drawers." You yourself, although you are insisting that Argos have made the mistake, you are still blaming the consumer, when the onus is not theirs to be telepathic
