  • Am not a fan of Argos, far from it but.....

I bought a bed from Argos.

It was a single with 2 drawers.

The picture for the Bed was: A bed (It was a double, may even have been a kingsize or a super) and the picture of the bed had 4 drawers with bedding inside them, a bedside table, a lamp, a window, a wall and a floor etc or even the headboard! I had to go to page 1186 if I wanted that!

The Item number was 1, so looking at the matrix for item 1, I had 2 options.

    The size of the bed

    The number of drawers

I went along the matrix to the size I wanted, 3` then I moved down the matrix to the number of drawers I wanted, 2 drawers. 693/1276 £279.99

I could of had 693/1269 £259.99 with no storage.

I could of made a mistake and ordered the wrong bed.

That would of been my fault and I would of felt a little bit daft but thought, oh well I messed up, bit of a hassle but nothing that cant be fixed / sorted out with a little effort, id sort it out and think, wont make that mistake again!

Like I say, im not a fan of Argos, I would just think you where trying it on.

Have you actually looked at the Argos listing??????

There are no size or base layout options. If there were then it would be obvious that if you selected 'no drawers', that the base had no drawers. But it didn't have the options, so the OP obviously assumed that they would be getting the item as pictured.

I think you will find most people who've worked in bed/furniture shops would agree with me tbh.

That may be so, but lets be honest, most people who have worked in bed/furniture shops wouldn't be buying from Argos would they?

I should think that you had the sense to realise you were not going to get all that, and to be honest that's a bit of a poor argument really. For starters as the bed was listed as a "Single" its a pretty safe assumption you won't be receiving the double. It also told you that to buy the extra items you would need to go to another page.

The Item number was 1, so looking at the matrix for item 1, I had 2 options.

    The size of the bed

    The number of drawers

Yep, and you were looking at the catalogue which is a horse of an entirely different colour. There is no matrix for online ordering, there is no option to select what you would like. There is an image of a bed with draws. that is all. Please do take a moment to look at the online page for the bed OP ordered.

I could of made a mistake and ordered the wrong bed.

That would of been my fault and I would of felt a little bit daft but thought, oh well I messed up, bit of a hassle but nothing that cant be fixed / sorted out with a little effort, id sort it out and think, wont make that mistake again!

Given that the catalogue gives you the full facts and options then yes, it would have been entirely your fault. The Website has no such luxury though does it?

Like I say, im not a fan of Argos, I would just think you where trying it on.

No, not trying it on, OP was merely surprised that the bed that was delivered was not the one pictured.

The text should make it clear that the model shown is an example only. If not, it is misrepresentation.

Thanks, that is what I said....

If you do a search for Silentnight Rose on the argos site, many many results return, all with the same bed, double with the draws but each item in its description is clear in what it is, Single, double, drawers, no drawers etc.

Id love the OP to get what she thinks she was going to get.

I think what she wanted and what she ordered are two different things and I think going off the picture alone and ignoring the description (of which seem pretty clear to me) is a weak argument that I could quite easy see Argos thinking the OP was just trying it on.

It entirely depends on what she searched for and how it appeared in the listing. Its not a stretch to think if she searched for Single Divan and filtered the price low to high she would have come across the bed she bought before the one that states "drawers"

However, I beg to differ on your last comment. The descriptions of the beds with no drawers are not clear. They do not state "No Drawers" yet still show the image of the bed with them. This is misleading.

So would I, but she won't. It may however, make Argos reconsider it's descriptions.

I think what she wanted and what she ordered are two different things

Most definitely, as we wouldn't be having this conversation if not!

and I think going off the picture alone and ignoring the description (of which seem pretty clear to me) is a weak argument that I could quite easy see Argos thinking the OP was just trying it on.

Please tell me where in the description for the bed OP ordered, ie this one:

    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6929848/Trail/searchtext%3ESILENTNIGHT+SINGLE+BED.htm

It says "No Drawers" Had the description been accurate, there wouldn't be an issue. That was not a clear description in any way shape or form.

After seeing the link, I'm amazed Argos even argued!

It's blatant! A Picture of a divan with draws. No mentioned of the draws in the description - accepted, but nothing saying there are none.
As such sorry Argos but that picture is misleading.

Argos by now having been alerted to this, should have changed the advert. Just been looking through their terms/conditions I can't see anything that would imply the image was just a representation.

Also being a CATALOGUE/on-line store one can't see the products first hand in the shop, so of course the pigging image is used by the buyer!!
