I'm a bit like Rummer, pretty much at the hospital every couple of weeks and I'm able to call my m/w's any time which is good. I like being looked after :)

Rummer - was it you that was saying about reusables the other day and you were buying a couple each month? I read a few reviews to say those ones were fleabay ones but with designs on them, are the ones you've got like that or are they higher quality?

The reviews I read about them were on GoReal and Cloth Nappy.Info I am really pleased with the way they look. I am going to get a few other brands to try too.

  • Hi ladies, mind if I sneak in? Had my scan on Tuesday and measuring 12 + 4 so I guess time to graduate from the other thread!

Estimated due date is 14th March and next scan due 28th October.

Quick question, can someone explain what consultant care involves? When I went to see my midwife she didn't mention it, but the midwife at the scan said "oh I see you're under consultant care, they'll catch up with you after your next scan" and then I got booked into the "clinic" for straight after my 20 week scan. I have PCOS and am overweight so I'm not surprised but thought it was strange that the midwife hadn't said as she was so good with everything else! What does this mean for the birth? X

I was under consultant care with DD2. Saw a doctor once as part of my routine appts and saw midwife for the rest of them. Midwives delivered the baby although a doc was lurking about as poor wee DD2 was in distress. Difference is you won't be allowed in the midwife led unit, you will be in the consultant led unit but chances are most care still given by midwives. On the plus side the consultant units are where all the drugs are :D

You can go to the midwife led unit, under consultant care, if you speak to your consultant and get their agreement around the 36w mark. I'm consultant led for them to keep an eye on my bloodwork, but found out yesterday they're not even doing the right test to check for cancer growth, really annoyed about that. Will ensure they do it for the 25w check or I'll be super cross with them.

Squirrel if it's consultant led care because of your weight (i think in my pct it's if it's over 30 or 35 bmi at booking in weight but i'm not sure, i'm just definitely in the category lol) their concern is the risk of having a large baby and the birth complicaitons that can bring.
my sister and one of my best friends had it and it basically meant for them that they had growth scans every four weeks to make sure baby was on track, had to meet with an anethesiologist to discuss what would happen if they need a c-section and they had to have the Glucose Tolerance Test and I'm expecting the same.
Both had hopsital births but that's what they wanted so can't comment on how it affects home birth/midwife led plans.

    BigZ have a fabulous holiday!

My appointments are standard for a first baby so far and they are something i have to organise - the midwife might mention it but there's a chart in the notes i'm supposed to follow.

    I've started making this:

it's great cos it looks good but is very simple if you know how to knit and purl, and count! in a dark purple aran wool

weekend in Dolgellau was great, lovely to spend time just me and him. although we only paid the room rate but i was cheeky and went down for breakfast anyway as pregnant nose could smell breakfast cooking and it made me hungry! lol

Been off work with a bug for the last few days, seems to have been something my niece has spread around as me, mum and sister all have it!

Meant to exchange on house yesterday after threatening to pull out, however there's an issue with the vendors mortgage offer, argh!

Wow, feels like forever ago I last got round to reading and posting on here!

Will try and read back properly later on.

First proper Midwife appointment on Friday, really looking forward to something else that makes it feel a bit more real - apart from the ever expanding waistline I'm still finding it hard to believe.

On the subject of expanding waistlines... I'm really struggling to find any decent maternity clothes, I'm 5'3 and pre-pregnancy I was a size 4/6 but apparently people of my size/build don't get pregnant! Would love to find a dress or two but it looks like it's going to be jeans and t-shirts that don't really fit for the next 5 and a half months :(

Hope everyone is enjoying these bonus few days of sunshine!

I was a similar size with my first and didn't really buy maternity clothes, just stretchy tops/dresses and leggings.

I think even now I have a dress I bought from river island in a size 6 and because the material is so stretchy I've been able to wear it this summer. I find H and M maternity clothes quite a small size 8 but to be fair I'm definitely not a pre pregnancy size 4/6 anymore!

Todays clothing choice, stretchy vest top and baggy jeans, we are painting the living room though not normally this slobby. 23w today!!! One more week until viable, gosh I'm excited :D Although scary to think 3 more weeks and that's when my cousins twins were born eep!!!

If you didn't know me you wouldn't know I was pregnant to look at me! Even though I've gained over 7-8inches around my waist and my A cups are almost D's!!! I'm shocked and amazed.
