Rummer - Not so much of an issue for us as there will only be 24 months between them but we have just swapped rooms with DS. Both our bedrooms are huge but his was a funny shape with lots of alcoves and what not so we thought it best if we took that room and the kids share the rectangular room. Just makes it easier with 2 sets of furniture, a cot, a bed, toys, storage etc.

Given the 9 year age gap it might not be so easy for you long term though. We will be extending and adding another bedroom after I qualify (3 years) and I think we've pretty much decided we can't cope with the difficulties pregnancy brings so the kids will have a room each before DS is 5.

Very quick question... is anyone using a pregnancy pillow?
    Thanks!

fran-o - I have one from a friend that I have for later on in my pregnancy, don't really need one just yet. Although, when my body feels like it's stretching I do shove a normal pillow between my legs to make me a bit ore comfy.

Had another weird dream last night!!! I had a shop in a tent at a festival, I was then cleaning the toilet there with a toilet brush but needed the toilet. Went to sit on the loo, but ended up doing the biggest widdle all over the floor as I somehow missed the bowl completely?!!? Then had to find lots of towels to clean it up.

Woke up and was absolutely desperate for the loo, so my dreams were obviously telling me something. What's even more annoying is it was 30mins before the alarm was due to go off and I did 2 widdles before bed to make sure I didn't have to get up in the middle of the night. Ho Hum! I'm convinced little miss moves onto my bladder in the middle of the night, maybe I sleep on that side and she shifts? I am a side sleeper.

I've just caught up with the thread so welcome to all the newbies, congratulations on teams pink and yellow (I don't remember any team blue recently) and I really enjoyed looking at all the scan piccies.

Well I'm nearly 24 weeks so it's going to be time to move to the big thread.
    Good luck everyone!

I normally sleep on my back but read last night that it can put pressure on major blood vessels and affect breathing so I slept on my side last night with a pillow between my knees! I'm easily influenced.

Got a bit upset in Holland & Barratt today when I was overcharged then they couldn't use my £1.50 voucher when they did the transaction again, I walked back to work with tears in my eyes then got an awful pain down my left hip, had to force myself to calm down, not worth it!

Just submitted my request for maternity leave, I think I've done it right... 39 weeks starting from the 1st January, I made it to be returning on the 1st October. Although I counted several times and came out with different answers the everytime whoops.

  • Lovely scan Starshinning :) It seems such a long way away for us at the mo

    Welcome emz118

I use a pillow between my legs already to sleep. You don't need a special pregnancy one. I like the V shaped pillows :)

Rummer - There is no rule that you have to move baby at exactly 6mths. You could keep the baby in with you till he/she is one then it would be less likely to disturb your DD during the night. Keep them both in together then review once DD hits the teenage years?

We have 3 bedrooms but this will be our third. DD1 is 15 and enjoys having her double room with a bit of space. DD2 is in a single room - might be a bit cramped to make the small ones share that room (DD2 will be 2 1/2 when baby is born). We do have separate living and dining room so DD1 could potentially go downstairs. The single room would have more room if we took out built in furniture but would then have to keep little ones clothes in our room hmmm

Just up update. Had my scan and all seems reasonable. She's measuring 21 weeks and I'm 23+3 but the important thing is that she has grown 4 weeks since the last scan 4 weeks ago. Her legs and arms are still out of the percentile chart and everything else is around the 5th but someone has to have the small babies right? Got an estimated weight of 507g which is about 1lb 1oz :)

Consultant seems reasonably happy with everything. I have growth scans every 2 weeks from 28 weeks and my consultant is actually going to be doing them which is nice.
C-section booked for 37 weeks although as that falls on a Saturday she may deliver 36+6 if I feel like I'm struggling. The compromise was me having the steroid injections to mature her lungs at 36 weeks which I'm not looking forward to having had them before! Comedy sized needle!

Kerri - Have you checked that your mat leave doesn't need to run from the start of a week (ie, Monday) rather than the specific due date? I know with MA you claim from the start of a week rather than the day you turn 29 weeks, for example.

OH and I are celebrating a positive scan with a curry tonight. Yum yum. Hope you all have a good evening :)
