Maternity leave...
32 weeks, 36 weeks or 38 weeks are the most convenient options I have (although even 36 isn't that convenient!!)
My job is very stressful and full on, I work all hours and its exhausting.
Any opinions on this?

Hi everyone
Not been on much cos nothing much is happening. It will be more exciting once I can feel movements but that won't be for another two weeks at the earliest.
Got the consultant next week or rather that's what the appointment says but it seems like you always get seen by a member of the team and never the actual consultant. Why don't they just say you will be under registrar care? I know on paper the consultant has responsibility. Just as long as it is a registrar and not a junior doctor!! I still have awful memories of when a junior doctor was let loose on me when I was having DD1.
Talking of which my birth plan will be that I don't want any trainees anywhere near me. It's a shame cos they do have to learn but that junior doc caused me to have a post partum haemorrhage. I had to have a blood transfusion and was still suffering a month after the birth. Anyway rant over
Hope everyone had a nice weekend. Welcome Kynthia and smlsave. Kynthia - you, me and Becca are all due the same day!
Becca is it an option for you to go back part time? I would take off as much time as possible. I took off so much time that I didn't go back at all0 -
Faith I'm not going back at all. I'm a teacher so I might pick up some supply but tbh I've waited so long for this baby I want to be able to enjoy every minute!First baby due 3/3/14 - Team Yellow! Our little girl born 25/2/140

Hi Becca can you please update me to 21st February
I don't know what I am doing with Maternity leave either. Was reading the pack HR gave me and all it kept saying was that and holiday leave occurred must be taken before hand - I think I will only have 1 day as our holidays run Jan-Dec!! At least it will allow me to extend my time off before going back to work as I must take holiday occurred while off before going back. I think I will go on mat leave at the end of January .
Was talking to DH about child care last night, I am hoping my employer will let me work Mon, Tue and Fri one week and the next week Tue Wed Thu as DH works shifts on a rota. I really do not want to pop our child in nursery so young (plus we can not afford it). Is anyone's employer very flexible in days worked? I work in an office M-Friday and all the other part time mums work the same 3 days each week so I am not sure they will allow me to alternate the weeks.
Rummer - ive made a couple of bibs so far but I think we are going to find out the sex and then I am going to make a few more related items. Want to sew some toys, quilts, cushions etc for the nursery.

I want my sewing machine desk setup so I can start sewing bits for little miss, I have all the fabric and notions ready for doing so grr but this unpacking malarkey is taking ages.
I'm going to take from December - January as holiday (I have quite a bit left). Then I'm going to take January - September plus the bank holidays off, I might go back earlier but take additional holiday as I'll have about 20 days to use up, will see how much money I have and how well we're coping with the SMP.
Little miss was doing all sorts of acrobatics last night whilst we watched tv. We've finally put the first coat of paint on her bedroom and it looks so sunny and refreshing in there, a lovely daffodil whiteDiary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

My work place is quite good with maternity leave I think. From memory I get about 30 weeks of full pay and about 22 weeks additional unpaid leave if I want. However as I earn more than hubbie it's a difficult decision whether to drop that much income next year, especially as we're hoping to buy a house before Christmas so will have a big new mortgage. There's also massive restructure and redundancies taking place next spring so it's a very uncertain time. Hubbie actually wants to leave and be a SAHD but childcare is less than his salary so it's not the best financial decision. I'd rather he work part time, I drop a day a week, and we use a nursery for 1-2 days a week after baby is 18 months (I'm not sure any family would be able to commit to weekly childcare). It's tricky to decide and hard to see how much income we're going to drop. I'm used to being financially comfortable and it will be a big change to be on a strict budget, but then a child will also be a big change!!!!!!Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0
