what a relief star! so pleased for you, i'm sure everything else will be ok but as you say, you'll take it in your stride if not
Amy - it's a View that it's wrong to force a gender identity on a child, as gender is a social construct, an extension of this is I feel uncomfortable with the 'all pink for girls, all blue for boys' business as I feel that it's defining your child by their gender.
It happens that I don't like pastel blue or pastel pink anyway lol
And of course, this extends to my child and no one elses, I don't want anybody to think I'm judging them for having a pink nursery or feel offended by my Views
Although I did have to laugh the other day, DH asked that whilst he agrees with the gender neutral baby things, would we be like those people in Norway who refuse to tell people what sex their child is? I had to reassure him that no, whilst I have Views they're nowhere near that extreme:rotfl:Little Lowe born January 2014 at 36+6

I feel a bit behind with you all decorating and talking about nurseries. I have a small pile of baby clothes probably about 15 items
I need to catch up!!
Team lowe DD1 wore a lime green suit when she arrived
DD2 i knew was a girl and she wore red.
Baby number 3 will be wearing white i think.Just take each day as it comes.

I love bold colours on babies although white is so cute too, makes them look all sleepy and ready for bed
Although the way you phrased it made it sound like they came out with the outfits on, which is a very neat trick indeed! lol x xLittle Lowe born January 2014 at 36+6

I get the Views and do agree to a degree but I just hate it when people go up to a baby and say 'What is IT?'. At least if they're wearing gender specific clothes then I won't feel like smacking people when they refer to my beloved child as an it!
But, once they're old enough to have a say I'll let my boy wear a tutu if he wants and my girl can wear a superman costume!
Either way, our baby's room isn't going to be all blue or pink, we're aiming for as bright and fun as possible and that works for either gender!
Star, I wouldn't worry about being behind, we're only in planning stages, we haven't bought anything yet! Actually, I bought one sleepsuit a couple of weeks ago. White with little silver crowns on.But that's all we have!

I love the idea of babies arriving in little outfits, SIL has been sending me pictures of matching Mum-and-Baby fancy dress costumes :rotfl:
Congratulations Star, that's great news and hopefully now you and your family will be able to relax and enjoy the pregnancy a little more :grouphug:
TL I know what you mean about gender being a social construct, and disliking that EVERYTHING for children appears to be colour-coded... having said that, the nursery is duck egg blue with pink curtains and shelves and very 'girly' butterflies on the walls - however that's because I chose to decorate the spare room like that :rotfl: It was my dressing room and I wanted to make sure DH didn't take it over with more of his music things
When our LO arrives she will almost certainly be wearing a lot of pink - but this is because MIL has bought half of Mothercare with very little input from myselfI don't mind, although it's going to be funny if a little boy decides to make an appearance instead... it wouldn't bother me to dress him in pink but I'm guessing that the Grandparents would be very unimpressed!

Board hopping - I much prefer bright colours for babies (either gender) and get very cross in shops when it's almost exclusively light pink or light blue!
Debenhams' Blue Zoo range have some lovely unisex brightly coloured clothes.0
