hay all,
After lots of phone calls I have got a scan to look for heart defects tomorrow at 10.30 they phone this morning and it is an urgent appointment! been a bit tearful this afternoon so worried xJust take each day as it comes.
Bump due 18th January :j0 -
*big hugs* starshinning, just think you'll get to see little one on the screen tomorrow and I'm sure everything will be fine. If you feel tearful then let it out, I often find yoga breathing techniques work for calming the nerves. Breathe in to the bottom of your stomach then breathe out through your nose slowly whilst counting to 10. Will be thinking of you tomorrow xxDiary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

Hey Ladies, Just got back from Hospital for our Scan and saw my beautiful baby for the first time, moving all over and the place and was sooo cute.
We got pictures which was a nice memento and also could see loads as the baby looked so big, also got told I am actually 13weeks and 5 days gone now so my due date is earlier than I thought.

Hello to all the newbies!
Will be thinking of you Star and hoping the scan shows a healthy, happy baby so you can relax a little more. I also hope that your family starts to be a bit more supportive, it must be a strain on everyone - but hopefully they'll start to see things more from your perspective.
Oh Kerri, sounds like you're being very energetic! I think I'd be tucked up in bed if I'd managed all that :rotfl:Your cat sounds like a right character, I think that's the reason why DH is absolutely refusing to allow me to get any pets
Also, if it makes you feel better, I once left £200 in the busy cashpoint while I was Christmas shopping (no baby brain to blame that on!) Fortunately the man behind me in queue was kind and decided to chase me down the street to hand me the cash... unfortunately I just saw a large man chasing me down a dark alleyway in Coventry and decided to run too :rotfl: It's just as well he was a good samaritan as I am clearly carp at escaping, he caught up with me about 30 seconds later!
Will be thinking of you during your next scan Lily and am willing little bean to grow, grow, grow!
Birdie, I'm sure you're going to enjoy your holiday, and if that means disappearing for some 'alone time' with your OH then so much the better! My DH was really weirded out by the idea of seeing and feeling movements too, but now he's actually experienced it, he loves feeling her kick and punch... (I haven't yet revealed to him how much more noticeable it can get though, he thinks it's going to stay this cute)
Good to see you Lola - it's so exciting to be discussing nursery furniture already!
Hope you enjoy your hols Fran, you definitely deserve a nice break before the disruption of baby time! So pleased you've been able to share with your family now, it must have been so exciting to let them know the news.
Mincepiemonster - I love the idea of being as big as Buckingham Palace... it has a ring to it
Rummer, thanks for sharing about Ikea nursery furniture - it had honestly not occured to me to look there, but there are some really nice pieces. I don't think DH will be too impressed about having to put it all together though :rotfl:
Sorry if I've missed anyone out, I blame baby brain!0 -
Evening everyone
Good luck tomorrow Star. Why do you have the heart scan tomorrow, is it for a suspected problem or history or something? Will be thinking of you anyway.
Thanks Amy. Saw m/w today and broke downI'm finding it all very hard at the moment. Next time I see my consultant I need to ask about premature delivery if things dont improve. She did say it was a toss-up between having a baby in special care and my mental health so I know its an option. I am a bit of a mess
In other news, OH's boss has been really supportive. We found out he gets his paternity leave at full pay which is nice and they will also allow him to take an extra week as holiday despite it being Christmas (Royal Mails busiest time, obviously!). So that's something. Virtually the entire of December off work - lucky git.
Birdie and Fran, enjoy your holidays. Children really do change things and they're not kidding when they say 'life will never be the same again'. I'm sure you'll both have a lovely time
Re:furniture. Buying normal chests of drawers and wardrobes are a much better idea. Baby sets are more to do with looks than practicality and as always, they always inflate the price if its designed for a baby. Both of mine have 'Malm' chests from Ikea and they are brilliant. Sturdy, wipe clean and huge inside. Highly recommend, especially at £40ish!

hey Lily my DD2 has a heart defect she had open heart surgery at 10 weeks old and will need more in the future so there is more chance. A lot weighs on it as if baby has a heart defect i may not carry full term, baby could be still born or die at birth so it is a huge deal
think i will take loads of tissues as I will cry either way x
Just take each day as it comes.

Oh no. Well, I really hope everything is fine. I undestand your worry - I am at a much higher risk of certain things happening (prem delivery being one, stillbirth/neonatal death being another and major placental deformity being in the mix too) partly because some have happened before and some because I am a few deformities with my body. Having said that, try not to worry until you know either way. Baby could be perfectly healthy. Also remember you have a beautiful daughter at home who, despite everything, is a fighter14th October 201020th October 20113rd December 20130 -

Good luck to those going to appointments/scans.
I have had dreadful headaches the last few days so I am going to ask what I can do at my apt tomorrow. My bump was huge tonight which was lovelyTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

So sorry to hear this Lily, did the mw do your fundal measurement at the appointment? I know it's never going to be 100% reassuring given the circumstances, but at least you're being monitored closely and everyone involved in your care (as well as yourself) is aware of the potential issues and history :grouphug: I really hope your fears turn out to be unnecessary and that LO decides to have a growth spurt.

That's really good

You're absolutely right about nursery furniture of course - but they're so cute! I don't know if I'll be able to resist0
