BigZ hopefully closer to the time you'll be able to have a tour of the hospital and see how things are, I'm sure you'll be reassured by that
Boo to the pain, it does just sound like MiniZee is making room for his/herself, they've got to get comfy in there after all! Sod how it might make mummy feel, comfy baby is No1 priority
Star I'm sure your family are just concerned for you and your little one. whilst you might be confident that this baby will be perfectly healthy it's hard for people not to think that the past will repeat itself. I know if it was my sister's baby I would be excited but worried about the baby being ok. although your mother is a piece of work
I've never liked milk and I've gone off cheese as it's too rich, which I'm gutted about as a) I love cheese and b) that also rules out Lasagne, which is my favourite food
My belly went really warm yesterday and I was really worried but I told mum and sister and they were both like 'sounds weird but expect a lot of weird things' lol
For some reason I'm really excited to be reaching 16 weeks- seems like a big milestone to me lol hope soon little lowe starts kicking properly- I feel tingles and sometimes little stabby pains but not sure 'stabby pain' is how you'd describe kicks lolLittle Lowe born January 2014 at 36+6
Completed on house September 2013

thanks everyone
I am worried about baby having the same condition as my daughter and would understand if that was my mums problem but her problem seems to be who will look after the kids when DD2 has her next operation which could involve her being in a few weeks. It just seems a bit narrow minded to not have any more kids coz one needs to be in hospital 2 weeks???
Thank you for your support xxJust take each day as it comes.

Starshinning, I assume your 20w scan is booked in for 2w time. They'll show you the babies heart then and that might help to put your mums mind at ease. I am sure she just worries about the "what if's" *hugs*
Has anyone started thinking about their birth plan? I'm consultant led and was told on Wednesday that I would be denied going to the midwife led birthing unit due to national guidelines. I had thyroid cancer and am on thyroxine so they monitor my blood levels throughout pregnancy as my dose has to be increased, however it has no impact on either the birth or my baby. I'm doing a LOT of reading around the subject as I don't want to go into hospital unless there is a complication during labour. My midwife is going to LOVE seeing me next week when I flat out refuse anything other than a home birth if I cannot go to the midwife unit at Cossham. I've been reading that I'm perfectly within my rights to do so and they have to send a midwife and I can turn round and tell the paramedic to s0d off. There's so many reasons why a home-birth is less stressful and actually for some people a better option. Just curious what others have thought?Diary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

I am a bit limited on birth plans too. Because of DD2 being 10lb i wont be allowed to deliver at a small hospital nearby and because of her heart condition i also have to go to big hospital. also they said no to water birth when DD2 measured big
It is my normal rountine scan in 2 weeks but i should be getting a scan with the cardiac team but my midwife messed it all up so waiting for an appointment I should have had 2 weeks agofrustrating
Just take each day as it comes.

kerry my only thoughts on a home birth is how far from hospital are you just in case? I am nearly an hour away
Ask and see what happens

Just checked and I am 15mins in current traffic from both Southmead and St Michaels here in Bristol. Frenchay A&E is even closer. I've just been reading lots about how you can tell them to send a midwife to assist with the birth and even if they say they are too busy they will still send a midwife if you insist. I just know that I'm going to be really stressed out if I have to go into a hospital to have her as I associate hospitals with bad things and I'd rather have her somewhere I'm going to be as relaxed as possible, midwives actively are encouraging people to have babies at home now as it costs the NHS less. I shall see what she says on Wednesday, otherwise I'm going to become a PITA for them as I have just read up about my rights as well. Obviously if there is reasonable cause for me to have my baby in a hospital (medical intervention required) then I would as the health of my baby and myself is priority, but if I'm just popping her out and there's no other drama then no reason to go to a hospital.Diary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

I'm about 5 minutes from my local hospital but, well...it's not very nice lol, they're doing up the entire maternity section (very slowly) on the trip there for the 12 week scan I looked about and told my partner I think I'd rather have a home birth :rotfl::D0

Star - My OH always tells me when I get cramp (although haven't so far during pregnancy, touch wood) that you need to get more salt into your system as it's an electrolyte imbalance. Best thing to eat is a banana as it contains potassium and magnesium if I remember rightly. Salt in this instance isn't the same as table salt you put on your chippy tea.
OH is away at a stag do this weekend, so I'm watching the rest of Dragons Den that I fell asleep watching last night, then I'm going to paint the nurserysuper excited
