Hope the scan goes well star :)

I've got my 20 wk scan in the morning too, and my first consultant appointment, where I'm guessing they're going to determine how high risk they perceive me/my pregnancy to be. I'm a little nervous about it, mainly because I have mixed feelings about it. I would like to think I'd have more support and back up if they did deem me high risk, and I'd be somewhat concerned if they didn't, but I don't want to be meddled with either, and would love the opportunity of a water birth (I think it would help take the weight off my dodgy joints) but fear that they may deem me too high risk to get in and out (because of the dodgy joints and fatigue)...:o I think a c section is not unlikely either, as I'd be quite high risk for dislocating my hips and/or being too fatigued to go through/finish natural labour and delivery (because of the CFS/ME). So, I'm undecided about how I want the appointment to go :p I've always known it could be all somewhat out of my hands though, so hopefully nothing will come as a shock to me... Looking forward to the scan though (once all is confirmed ok :p).

We ordered the pram system yesterday too  DH's aunt wants to buy it for us, and I saw it on an offer I couldn't resist, especially with the B00ts baby club vouchers I received too (gave me another £25 off plus £15 worth of points earnt) - which meant the RRP of £270 came down to £110 :D feels pretty weird to have ordered it though, I have to admit! I'm still half convinced I'm just fat, not pregnant, even though I feel MiniZee kicking and moving daily! :p

Saw my parents on the weekend and they bought me some maternity clothes in M0thercare, which was pretty cool ;) They were a bit moany that we'd already sorted all the "fun" stuff to buy/get for the baby though...what counts as "fun" stuff though? DH's aunt's paying for the travel system, and sister is giving me a handmedown cot...are they considered fun?? I can assure you, there's still a lot of stuff left to get! :p

Hi BigZippy, have you tried mindfulness for your ME? My Mum has ME and she has what I like to call a heeby jeeby tape, but it's essentially relaxation techniques and learning to live in the moment. It's really helped her go from only being about to do 30mins at a time before resting to being about to go quite a number of hours now. Might be worth considering, I think it's along the same lines as what they teach at hypnobirthing and might help with the anxiety/tiredness when it comes to the birth.

Catty - I'm painting the nursery as well :) what colour have you gone for? Ours is a lovely daffodil white, I keep feeling quite sick whenever I start painting though.

AFM - first MW appt. in Bristol today, it's going to be a long one. Can't find a pot to pee in anywhere so will have to do it in the surgery eugh. Going to ask about going to Cossham, but I think they might say no so will have to ask what medical reasons they have for saying no as my actual birth is low risk, the only risk I have with the pregnancy is my medication not being correct therefore the cancer grows back (not happening by the way) or I am put on too high a dose and end up with heart palpitations (not happening either). If it's just national guidelines then she's getting a very upset Kerri.

Blimey, just looking on birthchoiceuk and the two hospitals I have the choice of in my area have the two lowest %'s for normal birth rate and 2 highest for induction, with quite high for caesarean! This does not fill me with confidence :(

Keeping my fingers crossed for healthy scans BZ and Starshinning. :)

Big hugs for you Lily, so sorry you're struggling so much right now. I hope you're looking after yourself and the baby.

I wouldn't class the pram and cot as 'fun' stuff either BZ, more like the expensive stuff! The fun stuff is the cute bedding sets and toys and clothes and swings etc! :)

Of course it's right that nursery furniture is more cute than practical, but I just can't resist! I did show some Ikea stuff to OH yesterday in the hope that he'd say he likes it and we could save a couple of hundred quid but he's got his heart set on real wood and the Ikea stuff I like is white so he immediately discounted it as it looks 'cheap' and will be difficult to keep clean. He's such a snob sometimes! :p My parents have offered to buy the cot and furniture so he's looking at it like a blank cheque but there's still a budget and I'd rather get more for their money. Anyway, I like white for kid's furniture... :)

I went to the doctor last night to ask about anti-malarials for my holiday as I only just remembered that I ought to take them as a precaution... what a farce! The GP had no idea and was really panicky about saying anything to me, called in a nurse to speak to me who had no idea either. I had to sit around for an appointment with another nurse who lectured me on the short notice (Errr sorry, I've had other things on my mind for the last 3 months other than my jollies!) and muttered about having to check with the malaria consortium... then actually had the sense to check her little book that said the tablets would be OK and sent me away to buy them over the counter- but to speak to the pharmacist to check they're definitely OK first! I didn't even get a free prescription after all that, was going to argue but decided I'd spent enough time there and wanted to go home! :p

Just back from my MW appointment and I'm one happy camper. I'm allowed to go to Cossham if they'll have me, my birth is deemed to be low risk :D I can have the birth I want hurray :D Obviously if there's any cause to I'll go to the hospital for medical intervention, but relaxation cd's, birthing pool, aromatherapy = one happy Kerri :D Going to book a tour.

Thinking of you today Star, hope you get a good look at little one and some good news.

Hope it goes well BZ, you're a week behind me but 20w is defo the best scan so far xx

Kerri that's great news, must be such a relief :)

BigZ been thinking of you, hope all goes ok/went ok with the scan. In fact I must have been thinking of you quite a bit as I had a dream last night I had my 20 week scan and the baby was a hermaphrodite! they said 'it's a boy and a girl' and i said 'i didn't know it's twins' and DH said 'it's not, look, there's its boy bits and there's its girl bits'. he seemed perfectly fine with the concept lol

Seen the midwife, she only checked pee and blood pressure but both were fine- in fact blood pressure was low for me as it's usually high but today it was normal, so at least the pregnancy is helping with some things lol
Discussed feeling things and she said 'you probably won't feel anything til twenty weeks with it being your first...have you felt anything' so I said yeah, I've felt tingles and flutters and she was happy with that
we also discussed that pregnancy is weird lol i said about having stretching pains and occassionally my belly being very warm but that I'd run it past my mum who just said 'sounds weird, weird things happen' and the midwife agreed.
so it's official medical advice now - weird things happen when you're pregnant :rotfl:

once i have my house for my nursery i'm going to do one wall where the cot will be a dark blueypurple and have trees and owls on it, then the rest of the walls will either be a lilacy or dusky blue (depending on gender a bit but hopefully gender neutral as i have Views) so it looks like dusk all warm and cosy :) x x

Delighted for you that it was a postive result at your scan Kerri.
For our nursery we are planning to get a new cot (parents have offered to buy) and will use an old pine chest of drawers we have already. Might the chest of drawers a lick of paint to brighten it up and add 'edges' on top and a pad to make it suitable as a changing space. We have a built- in wardrobe to help store extras.
We will probably keep decor fairly neutral as we're hoping to move on in the coming year or so, but will need to change curtains and I would like to add some fun decor - big prints/ pictures on the wall, bunting, a rug etc, to brighten it up for baby.
Currently its our spare room/ dumping ground/ washing space - so we'll need a good clear out before too long. Camping gear into parent's loft, old clothes to charity shop, printer into living room, odds and ends on ebay/ freecycle...
Midwife appointment tomorrow (16 week appt).
All the best everyone, Fran (17+1)

Glad your appointment went well and you're feeling happy Kerri! :)

What a funny dream TL! Lets just hope that your baby just has one set of bits though! :)

We've got a bit of moving about for our nursery so decor is going to be very neutral until we're sorted. :o As it is we've got 2 bedrooms the same size, one is our room with just our bed and a small chest of drawers so lots of room for baby's cot for the first months. The spare room has one room taken up by wardrobes. We've decided that once the baby goes into his/her own room it's unfair for them to share with all of our junk so we're moving into the spare room (can't get the wardrobes out of the room and it's a big job to dismantle and re-build!). Baby's room will then have loads of space which is want we want for them. But it does mean that I have to hold out on my decorating until we do the room switcheroo. We can't switch before the baby is ready for it's own room as there won't be space for the cot once we move into the spare room. :o
