    Hi everyone

Sorry I haven't postedon here for a while, i've had that horrible flu-like bug that's been doing the rounds! Spent 2 days in bed sleeping & drinking water, I was really worried about the baby but doctor said baby takes all of my reserves anyway so it's me I should be worrying about! Was a tough week to get through with a 3 year old to look after, lucky my husband helped me!

Moneysaving wise for the baby, i've been on a bit of a mission! My friend has already lent me some maternity clothes so no need to buy those, and my work provides maternity wear aswell. The same friend has offered to lend me her colour-neutral moses basket to save me buying one, and is also giving me back the travel cot I lent her when she had her little man, so far so good!

My mum is going to buy a cotbed base for us, so only need to get a mattress for it.

I'm getting excited now I have my 20 week scan in 2 weeks, so i'll ask if they can tell me the sex although i'll still probably buy mainly neutral stuff just in case! I'm a bit nervous too as after the 20 week scan I see the consultant about birthing options. I think i'll be requesting a c-section again. Not because it's an 'easy' (?!) option, but, I have back problems & my friend pointed out that I 1) probably won't be able to get into alot of the labour positions and 2) what if I arrive at the hospital too late into labour and can't have any pain relief. I know the recovery after a c-section is slower but my husband is taking 2 weeks paternity leave then 2 weeks holiday straight after so i'll have 1 month of continuous support which is good.

Think that's it for now, i'll be back soon!
  • I'm not coping well with my pregnancy at all due to not being able to take my meds.

I've started having panic attacks at night now which are terrifying. :(

I'm only 15 weeks & don't know how i'm going to get to 40 weeks without something awful happening to me.

I've suffered from reoccurring depression/anxiety for over 12 years now & coming off my meds has been much harder than I ever though.

I can't sleep, i'm anxious all the time, moody, grumpy, snappy & generally feel crap.

I've also started worrying how i'm going to cope with having a baby on my own especially as i'm such high risk for postnatal depression & already have 3 kids 2 of whom are autistic.

I wish I could just go to sleep & wake up when it's time for the baby to come.

Sorry for being so negative but it's just feels like there is no hope at the moment.
I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

BCS I don't know what to advise to be honest. Can you give your GP a call? There should be some medication they can give you which is safe in pregnancy?

Please call someone as you shouldn't have to suffer in your pregnancy - maybe post this on the main pregnancy thread too as people there might have some experience with your issues.

popping in to say hi to everyone :) its lovely to hear you're all buying things and I must admit I'm so envious lol, can't buy anything yet though as hubby still un-employed from being made redundant Xmas eve, and with not knowing whether our baby is healthy yet I'm reluctant to buy even the littlest of things. My sister bought us some gorws and little outfits just before 12wk scan so have a couple of bits but I just feel sick and cry everytime I look at them :( although have amnio on Monday so am hoping a week or so and we'll know where we stand.

I hope you are all keeping healthy and happy and enjoying every moment of your pregnancies :)

    Hi all!

Galvaniser, I'm with you on that one - I am also petite, so plan on having a look in town this weekend with hubby. The weight of prams is incredible and fills be with dread, they seem to range from 6.5 to around 12kg - with nothing in them yet! Then there's seeing if it'll fit in the boot when folded etc. Hard in a Clio!

Kirstle sorry you haven't been well - get some blueberriies and echinacea in you to try and boost immune system and vitamin c supplies! Hope you get well rested and back to your normal self soon. That's good news on the money saving - we're hoping to get some more bits as and when on Freecycle, as most people we know either have no kids or gave their baby stuff away a while ago, so not much hope there! I know what you mean re worrying about the birth - I haven't a clue about birthing plan as such yet, apart from wanting to have a water birth if possible even if it means in the hospital bath. I am petite which may help but apart from that no idea yet.

BCC I'm so sorry you are feeling down - I can only empathise and suggest maybe calling your local midwife to ask for any support groups, and post here on MSE where others may have similar experiences. Panic attacks are awful, I had a friend who suffered from them and they can be truly debilitating. As far as how you are feeling physically goes, and lack of sleep, perhaps try some light exercise if you don't already, to try and tire you out more? Also it creates happy hormones endorphins at the same time which may help. The food you eat may help too so if you have things like turkey, banana, milk I am led to understand they create serotonin and help feel happy and aid sleep too. You have a lot on your plate, especially on your own, so please take it easy and talk to us about anything you want to get things off your chest. Take each day at a time and hopefully then by focusing on the present you won't worry yourself too much and can feel a little better.

Celomolly sorry to hear about your OH - hopefully he will find something soon, it's so scary when you are out of work and especially so if you are expecting as it adds to the worry. Re: the clothes you have for bubs, why does it make you cry - are they good tears? I also haven't got anything yet apart from one neutral outfit we were given and one we bought on ebay with Winnie the Pooh on ti which I figured was neutral. We got a big bag of mostly boy clothese on Freecycle, so if we do get a boy at least lots of stuff there! If not it'll be back on Freecycle with a begging message for any baby gitl clothes... Hope the amnio goes well and you feel good once it's done and more reassured.

Apricot - how are you feeling these days? I know we're so close due date wise. I have ordered a set of button stretchy thingys from ebay so I can wear my current clothes a bit more. Only £1.99 so well worth it if it works! Something along these lines:

Can't wait to feel baby move, but I guess as it's my first I will be waiting another 4 weeks or so, as am currently at week 16. Even then, apparently you think it's indigestion or cramps...

I think I'm feeling less confident now after hearing about the tv presenter who lost her baby at 7 months (just forgot her name) it's awful as you want to feel once you pass a certain stage that you can stop worrying but I guess we will all worry to some extent until baby arrives in our arms. Let's hope that day arrives quick!

sparkle - it really was auwful to read about Amanda Holden, it just reminds you that babies are so precious and a gift given to us, not something we can just ask for and get! I really feel for her and anyone who has been in that situation.

I like the sound of the button stretchy things :) going to invest in some of those, I feel so big already, I'm not sure if its normal for 14 weeks but I'm def showing and as not told many people yet I'm struggling to hide bump now.

thank you for your kind words, I think the reason I get so upset is that I look at the grows and bits bought for us and long for someone to be able to fill them, and not just anyone, the bubba inside me now, I've grown so attached to him (yes am determined its a him already :) ) and just want everything to be ok. MIL has also bought a moses basket but has put it away in the loft for now, I think she doesn't want to upset me seeing it, gona make it all the more special when we get that news that bubs is healthy (everything corssed)

Kirstla - hope your feeling perky soon and back to full health :)

Hi cleomolly, I didn't post much on the less than 12 week thread but I remember your post about your dating scan and my heart really goes out to you. I'm sure the waiting is horrible as it must feel like you're stuck in limbo atm. I'll be thinking of you on Monday x

  • Hello

Well I guess its time for me to join you guys  I am 12 + 5 today. Had my scan on Monday and saw a very wriggly rolling baba waving back at us. So relieved.

I'm feeling fine (touch wood) and sometimes still have to remind myself I'm pregnant at all lol:rotfl:

I told some people at work yesterday and I was trying to play it down because a lady in my office had a mc in October but inevitably she overheard some people talking about me and apparently spent most of yesterday crying. I feel so bad and I really didn't mean to upset her. I don't know whether I should say something to her or just leave her and keep my head down today.
Leo James arrived 7 days late on 26th August 2011 by emergency CS :j Such a cheeky chappy now :T
