Hi ladies hope everyone is well? I'm craving scampi now!!

Just come back from 20 week scan and not sure how to feel. Baby was face down and so she was unable to check the heart and facial profile. Everything else was fine but have to go back in 3 weeks for a re-scan. Part of me feels really lucky that I'll get to see baby again but can't help but feel a bit deflated that we didn't really see much this time, didn't get a picture and now have another 3 weeks to worry that we haven't got the all clear :(

Oh just made me cry too by saying he felt disappointed too. Feel like I've failed in some way silly as that sounds.

Sorry for such a negative post I was hoping I'd be on cloud nine this evening but I should thank my lucky stars that nothing bad has come up so far. I'll stop moaning now!

Hope everyone has a lovely sunny bank holiday weekend xx
First baby due October 2013 :j
  • Vic3 I haven't bought anything either. I still need to make room in the house! Plus we're decorating soon. Me and OH are going on our first look at baby stuff tonight but just to browse, not to buy. I think we'll start buying stuff at 30 weeks.

Hopelass *hugs* it's perfectly understandable feeling like that but please don't feel it's your fault xxx although my 12week scan went well I was gutted the only scan photo was blurry/ funny angle!

Vic I didn't purchase anything until gone 20 weeks last time. We don't need much but my wages are less than half what they were last time I was pregnant so I'm hoping to buy what I can each month. I'm also loving buying baby things! I need to save for my carrycot which will probably be once I'm 20 weeks. It doesn't matter that you haven't bought anything yet!

I believe that scampi is langoustine.

Is it wrong that I have bought absolutely zilch for baby (apart from maternity trousers)? Everyone on here has bought things!

God no. I only bought a baby bag because I was in Cornwall and I liked said bag. It's not even really a baby bag..it's just a bag I wanted and liked that has room for bottles at the sides so I thought I'd call it a baby bag and try and keep it for that time! I used it yesterday and my partner was like 'why are you using that supposed baby bag when the baby isn't due for 5 months.' to which I replied '4 months love!!' so let's see how it goes on that one!

As for the car seat my partner has developed a car seat obsession and feels it must be done as a matter of priority. He makes me laugh with it because he constantly says 'the hospital have to see it you know, before you and baby come home!' Well, since he's said it everyday of my pregnancy I thought let's just get it so he can sleep easy! :D

Aside from baby booties that's all I've got and all I plan to get until about August time (baby due 2nd October). Until that time, it's things for the house and clothes for my ever expanding self.

As my baby is an Autumn baby, the baby clothes just aren't suitable at the moment so I can't get a great deal anyway!

My baby is a boy and I'm thinking I love the name Ned...what do you think?

Oh sweetie. Just seen this after I'd already posted! It's not your fault at all! You should have seen my baby. He rolled this way and that and did everything the sonographer didn't need him to do!
I was so lucky in that my hospital were happy to send me away for 15 minutes walks whilst they scanned other ladies and then called me back. I think we went for 3 walks in total and he finally moved but it was close, we nearly had to rebook. I think it happens all the time, people I work with had to pay for private scans and the like because they couldn't wait NHS timescales for re-scans

Waiting is never nice though and I'm so sorry you didn't get the all clear today :(

seafood is fine to eat.. it is stuff like oysters, which are filter feeders you should avoid as they gather all manner of nasties in their digestive systems.. prawns/scampi and the like are fine .. who in their right mind would eat oysters anyway? revolting blobs of mucus in a shell!

tuna and oily fish limited due to mercury, dioxin and other chemical contamination.

I'm another who had a misbehaving baby (twice! Had to have both 12 and 20 week scans repeated). Although I was excited about seeing baby twice, I know how you feel about being disappointed, it was especially bad for DH as both times he couldn't get time off for second scans. I'm sure everything will be fine for you second time round, it's just a shame you have to wait so long.

Bangton, I really don't want to put a downer on your name choice, but up here in Scotland 'ned' is another word for chav!

Your kidding!:rotfl: my partner's family are Scottish so it would be Ned followed by a very clearly Scottish surname! My brother pointed out there is also Ned Flanders on Simpsons so I think it's out! It has made me laugh though! Fancy? :rotfl:

I like Ned! I wanted to call my son Ted but wasn't allowed! I think DH has a girls name picked but I don't have a clue for either!

I must go to bed so tired
