Sorry lol. Going for a meal tomorrow night so will give it a miss until I can cook some myself. I miss prawns so much :(

Scampi is fine, I craved it for a few weeks around the middle of my pregnancy. Just don't have it too often, same as any fish.

You don't have to miss prawns! They are fine as long as they've been cooked! The NHS guidelines changed a few years ago

I think we're going to continue with the reusables we bought for our 2 year old (hoping he'll be on the way to being out of them before the babies arrive...).

I breastfed last time and found it really hard (physically and mentally) - and he used to feed for (literally) hours at a time. I kept it up (with formula supplements when needed) for 6 months, then morning and evening feeds when I went back to work until he was 11 months. If I was having one baby this time I'd probably give it a go, but with two to care for, plus a toddler, I'm not even going to go there. I really like that bottle-maker contraption someone was talking about - my OH thinks it'll be a sanity saver :)

I'd eat it too! But then I'm quite laid back. I had sushi last week- I'm so naughty!! I did check that it was frozen to kill bugs before I get bombarded!

My rationale would be it's frozen so any bugs would be killed and as long as its cooked well it'll be fine
Cooking kills bacteria- freezing doesn't sorry. (It kills dustmites on soft toys etc tho)
Lola, i am a bit of a 'rule bender' also lol. Obviously follow advice when theres a definite risk such as alcohol, smoking etc etc. Funny how people feel free to comment on choices when your pregnant though...

Have recently has ppl at work interrogate me when i said i was going to get my hair dyed (asked midwife and he said theres no confirmed risk) i have blonde highlights and do not want to have 5 inch dark roots by October!!

Also had someone react with shock at me eating mayonnaise - i explained to them as it was store bought and therefore made with pasteurised eggs etc so no risk, they were adamant i shouldn't be eating it and started questioning what other things i was/wasnt allowed to have. So irritating!!

Confession time: I sometimes eat eggs with runny yolk- only Lion stamped tho as they are Vaccinated against Salmonella. I have eaten prawns in nice restaurants. I have tea with real caffeine- only a couple of cups a day. Also I have occasionally had half a glass of wine with a meal. Don't judge me ;) Meanwhile a friend of mine would only drink boiled water (on its own) and no amount of logic would convince her that mayonnaise from a jar is ok.
Also had my highlights done this week for first time in 6 months ;)
2016 MFW OPd £2000, 2015 MFW OPd 3000 then bought new bigger house with bigger mortgage.
    MFW OPd 2014 £2000 2013 £9700 2012 £2848.39 2011 £2509.58 2010 £11000 2009 £112002008 £4939 :D

I think its about using common sense, I'll admit to the odd mcflurry, and I have had a drop of wine with meals also!

Pretty sure ive read somewhere there is a particular bacteria found in fish which is killed by freezing.

Hi there - not much to add other than I know how you feel. When i was expecting last time plasterers and decorators (we had hall stairs and landing done - I didn't fancy painting that!) kept letting us down, putting us off, etc. to the extent that when I had to go into hospital 3 days early the painting was still happening and the carpets were being fitted while I was being induced! This time, to go one better, we're having a big extension done, starting next week for 12-14 weeks. I'm 18 weeks with twins and can see history repeating itself...

Really hope you manage to find some reliable tradespeople and get stuff done ASAP :)

Thanks babamoose and sweaty Betty. What is it with trades people? What a nightmare that must have been! ! I can see it happening with me the way things are going. Hey Ho there is nothing I can do but try someone else I guess. Good luck with the extension! !!

Re: freezing- some bacteria will die but not all. But anyway my view is like yours just use common sense :)

I'm not sure about scampi, I know with my first pregnancy I avoided everything you are meant to but this time I am a bit more relaxed. I probably would eat it but I would make sure that it was well cooked when eating out. Its obviously upto you!

I've had my DH/ family who are really over the top 'you can't eat x,y,z' and then inlaws who are really 'why can't you drink/ etc' I think I would have a sip of wine but thats about it. Oddly I've been craving wine (not normally a drinker) so have been buying non alcoholic Shloer (drank in a wine glass LOL!)

Sweaty Betty : I found BFing incredibly hard last time. I imagine using washables with twins would be a lot of washing! Do you know if your twins are identical or not? xx

I would just eat Scampi (if I ate it!). Aside from what the midwife said not to eat I've just ate what I want. Sometimes healthy, sometimes downright fattening and salty! But then again, half the things pregnant ladies ask don't cross my mind so I'm wondering if I'm a bit relaxed.
I just view it as they list seafood you can't eat (shark and too much tuna) so surely scampi would be on the list if not ok?

Going shopping for car seats tomorrow .. can't wait!! Until we get the work that's needed on the house that's just about all I'll be getting so I'm excited to finally be getting something!

Oh and I bought some baby booties with carrots on them and a black, spotty baby bag so I've done the smallest baby shop so far. I wonder if my mum will store everything else for me so I can just go wild and buy whatever I want!!!

    RE: Scampi

Correct me if i am wrong - isn't most of the scampi we get served in pubs etc is fish? It's not actually prawns (mini lobster)?

I would eat it personally - it's usually deep fried so would surely get rid of most nasty bugs?

On a similar topic - how is everyones eating going? I've been awful - trying to make healthy dinners etc. but [STRIKE]tiredness[/STRIKE] pure laziness leaves me grabbing bad food most of the time - i've put on 9lbs so far and dreading the amount i will end up putting on (obese to begin with :()

I believe that scampi is langoustine.

Is it wrong that I have bought absolutely zilch for baby (apart from maternity trousers)? Everyone on here has bought things!
