I combination fed last time but I'm going to see how it goes. I'll try to BF but there's nothing wrong with FF. the worst part about formula feeding was all the washing/ sterilising but overall the stress (and pain!) was greatly reduced!
Tell a lie I've actually ordered the £6 lindam micro steriliser and some sleep suits (the truth is coming out!)Trying to save for a deposit
4000/ 10000 saved so far..0 -
Just wanted to ask anyone if they have any experience or heard of this, i cant remember if ive already asked this though, think my brain is turning to mush!
I saw my midwife a couple of weeks ago, all my blood came back ok but she did say that for rubella I didnt have enough antibodies well not enough of them that they would have liked to see. I had all my vacinations when i was younger as standard but now she has told me once I give birth I will need to go for the mmr vacination and as such at the moment the baby wont be protected or given Immunity from rubella because of my antibody levels.
She pointed out its more dangerous during the first 12 weeks, (like i needed any more complications!) but im still worried, im from south wales as well and there has been an outbreak of measles and they have now been taking about rubella rising as well! I dont think there is anything I can do as they wont give the mmr as its a live virus to a pregnant woman, but surely some antibodies must count for somethjng?

I think it varies from person to person, in work we are all given Hep B jabs and then told to come back for a blood test to see if the vaccine has worked. I know some people need to go back and have another jab as the 1st work didn't work.
Where in South Wales are you? I'm in Cardiff and I've heard there has been measles reported in Cardiff now and obviously the whole Swansea epidemic. I would ask your MW for some advice, but I guess they'll just tell you to steer clear of anyone with rubellaGot married 13/11/10

Cleo, my sister had this happen to her and went for the vaccine after she had the baby. She had no problems at all, however, du to the outbreaks etc i would maybe phone and speak to your midwife to help put your mind at ease?0

I know I asked my midwife today what the blood test at 28 weeks is for and she said iron level, but also to check
If your antibodies had changed - so I take it from that they can go up as well as down?! I'd try not to worry (easier said than done I know!)- if you had the jab and there's some antibodies there then that's got to be a good thing. Maybe the test they ran just didn't pick them up properly, could be at your next blood test they're happier with your levels. But definitely do whatever the midwife suggests is bestAvon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -
hugs to those waiting for 20 week scans - you'll get there honest!
AFM feeling tons better. I have actually allowed myself to browse baby stuff now! Loving the cute cot bedding available, trying to get my head round the whole car seat/ pushchair/pram/ travel system malarky & already getting bored of my maternity clothes I bought in April.
nice to know that there's a fast solution to bottle feeding, brightens my options if BF doesn't go to plan0 -
Hi, thanks for your replies, I think its going to be a case of, steering clear of rubella, even though im not going to know who has it!
I live in swansea so slap bang in the middle of the outbreaks, they have been having clinics here in schools and hospitals but hopefully rubella wont take off now.
Ive got my 20 wk scan next week and apt with consultant so I think ill have a word then, hopefully it wont be as dangerous as before the 12 week mark, and like someone said hopefully my 28 week bloods will show better levels.
I think ive definitely started to have some feelings, they feel more like bubbles popping, being flicked from inside? If that makes any sense? And for some reason it happens a lot when im sitting on a computer chair at my desk, perhaps shes squashedhopefully its not wind and little kicks.
When do you feel movement that you know for definite is movemenet? And will it just be like a big kick one day or a gradual increase in these little things that ive been having so far? I dont really notice im having them unless I concentrate and am lying/ sitting quietly.0 -
It's so nice to hear other people marking potential contingency plans in case BF doesn't go to plan/is too darn sore!
Not sure about other people but there has already been quite a huge amount of pressure on me to BF. I'm not against the idea altogether, but the more pressure there is to do it the more stressed I am about the thought of it!
I'm lactose intolerant and so was initially concerned that if I BF I wouldn't be providing enough calcium etc. as it isn't included in my diet... turns out that this isn't the case at all though.
I'm thinking I'll be doing a combination of both - especially as mine will probably end up going to nursery/child care fairly swiftly due to work commitments.
Anyone having a disposable vs. reusable nappy debate in their household yet?
Can't wait for another 4 months of these discussions..!0 -
Ive just bought a birth to potty kit of bambino mio reusable nappies. That way i'll never run out of nappies. Thats my theory anyhow.
Curently 21+5Sometimes i like to imagine that im living on the breadline as a single mum with 3 children to feed and clothe, bills to pay and very little time to myself........ then i wake up and realise im a princess with prince charming by my side and a lovely white castle........ oh wait

Hello everyone,
I've just got back from a break in St Ives with my mum. It was great but I am so shattered today I can't do anything and all I can see is mess everywhere. I'm actually feeling really stressed! My partner doesn't seem to have missed me at all whilst I have been gone...relishing his time to himself. It's only been 5 days and I'm telling myself he rarely gets time alone so it was bound to be nice for him but it's upset me!
I'm a pregnancy mess. Scan was last Friday and I was happy as larry but then I've started worrying and waiting for 24 weeks when baby is classed as safer! I seem to have no concept of slowing down. I mean I know your supposed to, but I feel fine and then suddenly I'm physically exhausted and worrying I've done too much and I'm stressing my baby!
My house needs work doing, plastering the hall (plasterer just f***ed off just as I thought it was booked and ready to go), new carpets upstairs, new doors upstairs and a paint job upstairs. All the while I'm trying to save for the year I have crap all to live on! And then the seal on my front door has gone and the letterbox is also knackered!
Anyway..I need to get a grip..I'm probably just tired!
Cleofish...the movements are kind of like being flicked from inside. I'm 21 weeks and I'm not getting one big kick, more like a few little flicks several times a day. I also feel a bit if weight at the front of my stomach, like he is resting all his weight on my ribs at certain times of the day. My movements have got stronger now but at first I only noticed them in bed0
