Thanks it's such a relief to reach 12 weeks. Funnily enough I worked out my due date as that but the sonographer has put 29th Nov in my notes?!

I'm hoping to book a gender scan this time around I'm just having a look at prices, they seem to vary quite a lot!

You're not wrong there. My nearest clinic charges £95, but the one I used when I lived in Sheffield was £50 and we got a 20 minute scan with about 20 2D and 3D pics. Will (hopefully) be going there again as we visit quite a lot these days.

TTC - If you are reading this and were planning on finding out the sex early, the clinic is run at Thornbury.

The nearest place has quoted £179 for a 4d scan with DVD, various framed photos key rings etc. All I want really want is to know gender, maybe a DVD and definatly some scan pics. I don't want framed pics/ key rings etc! Another place has quoted £65 for 4d gender scan, scan pics and I think extra £10 for DVD which I would be happy to pay!

Do you want to find out early or don't your hospital tell you?

Do gender scans only cost if they are not part of the 20wk scan? (Apologies if this is a silly question).

Tiredness is just hitting me now, managed to escape during the first 17wks but its a struggle to get up and get through work at the moment (might be partly down to a dull job though !).

Big day tomorrow - telling the boss to prepare for Mat. pay! Eek.

Has anyone else suffered from period type pains? I've had tummy cramps on and off all afternoon, and now have a sore back as well. Baby bean still moving and kicking as usual thankfully, I just can't get comfy or do anything to shift the pain :-(

Just had a successful 20 week scan, and been told its 'probably' a boy! like the probably!

Bride2be I've been having weird cramps and aches all over my lower abdomen. Baby has to make room I guess!

Gender scans are done privately, depending on your hospital I think most will tell you at your nhs 20 week scan (if you want to know of course!), but only if they don't need to spend ages looking being as its being done to check for problems. I'm booked in for a private scan this Saturday when I'm 17 weeks as we're impatient and don't want to wait till 20 weeks to still not find out, thankfully it's only £59 so not too bad plus the place were going to runs antenatal classes so we want to go and see what the staff are like to see if we want to go there for the classes as well. Had an early (private) scan at a different place and really didn't like the attitude of the staff - which is why we aren't going back there!

Unfort they won't reveal gender at 20 week scan here so you have to pay to have private scan. It must be the only hospital that won't!

Ahh I see. So much stuff I haven't a clue about!

I hope mine isn't shy at the 20wk scan and it flaunts it for all to see... would be annoying to have waited only to not find out!
