    Hi everyone,

New to MSE (as a poster) and new to the thread - currently 17+2 with my first bump (to be). Slightly bricking it, but hoping to curb any nerves by turning it into a MSE exercise/challenge ;)

    26th October!

Currently trying to avoid buying things far too early on...

Biggest struggle currently is that we're going to have to fork out on a builder to come and sort out an extra room in the house (luckily we have the space, but not the essential things like walls etc...)
Anyone else having to build a room rather than decorate an existing space?!

Yeah - we're having an extension built (extra bedroom, big dining kitchen across the back of the house). Starting in 10 days, will take 12-15 weeks. I'm almost 18 weeks with twins. We might be cutting it a bit fine... :)

Ooooo I'd love to have a builder in, but don't have the funds for it :(.

We're in a 2 bed ground floor flat with possibility one of the smallest kitchens you will ever see, so much so our fridge doesn't fit in and is in our spare bedroom.

Won't be for much longer though as of course the spare room is becoming the baby's room. Did look into a kitchen re fit so could get the fridge in but just cannot afford it, my mother in laws answer was to get a conservatory off the kitchen. Lovely idea if she wants to pay, hahaha.

But never the less spare room now baby's room has been painted and glossed and getting new flooring put it in on Wednesday which is exciting.

So basically you're saying your baby's going to live in the fridge.

woweeeee someone else as mad as me! We gutted the downstairs no rads, bare brick, no carpet, no furniture early January, committee to the works and paid deposits late November and found out we were expecting on December 31st. OOOOppppsss.

Now we have a new kitchen, plastering done, painted living room but freshly skimmed walls everywhere else. We have just started agreeing the bathroom works and will get that replaced late June... I am planning to move out for the week that happens! I NEED the toilet... about ten times a night :rotfl:

I am sure the baby has listened to your plans and will be slightly late, to ensure you have enough time to complete everything:beer:

    ??!! I don't think she's saying that....

*waves* - Hi all! Been mia again. Sorry. But hopefully not for much longer! Hope everyone is well, bumps are blossoming nicely, and scans have been reassuring.

    Welcome Babmoose :)

Boots baby club is amazing. I've had so many vouchers and points coupons that I've used. They recently sent me my last mailing now that DD is two, but did say I can sign up again when another baby is due, which is what I will do I think.

We too have 2 bed house, and hoping for a single storey extension to provide more living space, ideally this summer before baby number 2 arrives - but not sure if that will happen! First things first, I need someone to come and draw up some plans so that we know what is feasible. Hoping to get that sorted in the next couple of weeks. Plan is for baby to share a room with us until he/she sleeps through and then he/she will share DD's room which is all nice and neutrally decorated - so no new decorating needed.

Naff all on telly tonight, so will catch up on BGT from last night.

Glad I'm not the only one! I figured it would be better doing it now than when there are new born(s) in the house. Financially it's not ideal, but putting it onto the mortgage and cutting back (a lot) so we can benefit from the space for as long as possible...

Last time my parents had to come and stay here while the decorator finished and the carpets were fitted as I went into hospital to have my LO 4 days early - I'm hoping that history doesn't repeat itself...

Absolutely! I don't think anytime is good financially, but imagine having newborns and building work going on at the same time.

So how are the babies Betty - have you had any more scans? Hows the bump coming along?!
