Yay Nessie - another sleepy Suffolk mama. :j. My dad has always smoked and Mom has very recently re-started! They both go outside to smoke but I can still smell it when they come in. It's difficult because you can't tell them what to do; it's their life, but at the same time, I don't want my precious baby breathing in smoke from anyone!
I have a 12yo niece that adores babies but picks them up like rag dolls; dances round with them etc. It literally scares the living day lights out of me sometimes. My sis has asked if she will be allowed to have our baby sometimes overnight. I blurted out a "No Way"! Don't think it went down too well but did remind her that we tried for 7 years for this one so every minute will be precious to us. Am I being silly?

Nopes it's your baby your rules
I've been surprised by how desperate mil is to babysit, take them out for the day etc - I think part of her forgets it our baby! The novelty might wear of when your sister remembers how much work little ones are perhaps?
Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -

Lovely news, bet you're thrilledDid you find out if its pink or blue?
Re: purchases, we have stuff from last time but even then didn't shop til after 20 week scan. Spent time before making a list on excel with chosen items and price. Then as people gave us things I would amend the spreadsheet. Nice to see how much was saved.
Somebody asked about Phillips Avent Microwave Steriliser. We have one and I thought it was fab. It is nearly as wide as inside of microwave but should be able to turn freely? It is compact in comparison to the plug in Sterilisers. We went for a few days away with friends when both our babies were under 1 and they took a big tommee tippee Steriliser, a plug in bottle warmer and even a bottle drying rack! For three nights! We had our microwave Steriliser, bottles, dummies ,and a bottle brush all inside it for the journey. And bear in mind their car boot is a particularly small one.2016 MFW OPd £2000, 2015 MFW OPd 3000 then bought new bigger house with bigger mortgage.Beautiful boys born May 2011 and October 2013

The only big thing we've got so far is our travel system (so pram/buggy/car seat) that we got at the weekend, at 21 weeks. I know my sister has ordered our crib for us too.
I really feel for people who have smokers in the family, especially if they are causing hassle. DH gave up about 10 weeks ago, after our 12 week scan, and has really surprised me by still being off them -he's tried half heartedly in past. And none of our close friends and family smoke so don't have any issues there, but I know I wouldn't like baby to be near any smoke at all.
Could someone who has the avent microwave steriliser do me a favour and measure how big it is, so I can see if it'll fit in my microwave! Can't find the size online, and Amazon have it for £6 just now! :money:
eta - where is the most mse place to buy crib and cot bedding?0 -
After reading advice online, we've cheated with moses basket bedding and will be using pillowcases as fitted sheets - then we've just gone for flat sheet and blanket. Got the pillowcases in Primark (£2 for 2!), flat sheet for cot in Ikea and blanket in Mothercare. All very cheap0

Can't remember who asked, but I did try to copy from my scan picture when I did my belly art. I think I got the head just right, but the body was a little bit off... It was really hard upside down tho, and if I stood up to do it, then it was more difficult in the mirror, but when I sat down I was smudging bits of it. Still lots of fun tho :j
My friend has said she'll let me paint her bump now, so she must have been impressed as well :rotfl: I would love to paint mine when I am bigger as well. I can just imagine doing loads of designs when I am on maternity leave - as long as I can reach it all ok :rotfl: I defo want to do a pumpkin at halloween as I will be 37/38 weeks then so a perfect pumpkin shape
I feel for you people with smokers. I think its a hard subject to broach. My ex MIL smokes, but only a couple a day, and the house doesn't smell, and neither does she. She was my babysitter of choice with DD, and we are still close even tho I have split up with her son. Shes already offered to babysit the new addition! I think its up to you as a mum to see what you feel comfortable with. I didn't feel as comfortable with my mum, despite her not smoking. I know it hurt her that I didn't turn to her, but I found her very over-bearing in the first few weeks and it made me back away from her more. I'm quite independant and I prefer to try my own way first rather than someone dictating what I should do, so I often had my back up with my mum. Hopefully it will be a little easier this time round, but we'll see...
I have got nearly everything still from having DD, so I don't think I will have a very big shopping list this time. I tried breastfeeding last time and managed 36 hours I thinkSo I am going to try again, and hope that now I am older and hopefully more relaxed I will find it a lot easier. So I'm not going to get any formula/bottles in, as shops are open all the time so if I do really struggle I will be able to buy it anyway - but if I had it in I might give in more easily. I'd rather have some money aside in savings for nappies rather than stocking up on them all, as I found that some brands leaked with my DD, so I wouldn't want a big stack of them going to waste.
I do need to make a start on clearing the spare room tho  Its been a junk room / dumping ground for a while. Theres a lot of things to put up in the loft, or rehome and a lot of things to sell (I hate listing things for sale!) I think I will give myself a target of clearing it before the end of the second trimester, and then it just needs a new coat of paint and the new border putting up. I am very excited to have it turned back in to a nursery again
I got my maternity bras from mothercare, and really like them! I had been wearing like a support crop top type thing until the 12 week scan and it wasn't giving me any shape at all, but I had outgrown my previous bras and the underwire was causing lots of aching. Such a difference having a proper bra now! I feel so much better. I'm a H cup at the mo tho  so the straps are really wide! The assistant was really helpful when I was getting measured.
My appetite isn't increasing yet, but I'm only 13 weeks and still having sickness at times. I'm keeping an eye on my weight this time as I gained farrrrrr too much with DD. I still weigh in at less than I did when I got my BFP thanks to the sickness and lack of appetite
Its DD's 7th birthday tomorrow  So I have a lot to do this week. Really hope the sickness and tiredness gives me a break so I can get all the jobs I need to done. I've also had a stinky headache these past couple of days, but the pharmasist wouldn't let me have anything other than paracetamolHave to make a docs appt if I need anything stronger, but fingers crossed its not feeling as bad this morning...
Hope everyone has a lovely week xxMarried my lobster in July 2011

I have it, but have no idea where OH has put the tape measure!! Will try to dig it out asap for you ASAP!!
£6 is a bargain isn't it. But it's a very snug fit in my microwave. After doing some Googling the general consensus is that it's fine so long as the water still heats up, which is does fine.
EDIT - it's about 27cm wide and 16 cm high hope this helps.0 -

Thank you, it should fit in fine, my largest dinner plates are just over 27cm, and they are OK.
Away to scour Amazon for more bargains - Ah, am now raging, it's gone up to £12!! I know it's still cheap, but it was half of that last night!0 -
Oh no! Sorry Bride2be!
It's £12 on Tescos too, still cheaper than the other ones I've seen though, which have all been £20+0 -
Anomaly scan done today all looks well.
Didn't cave and find out so in another 20 weeks we will have a nice pink or blue surprise!0
