How exciting Claire! Will you be finding out the flavour?

Re the pram we went to a local independent baby shop and spent ages with a really helpful lady then surfed the Internet for a cheap price. The iCandy ones don't advertise their price! From memory the puschair and carry cot and car seat was about £600 ish but don't quote me. Is the peach tougher than the cherry? Our one is the fudge colour just in case our bean hides his or her bits at the scan.

I think if you buy a new pushchair you have to be careful of delivery dates. We were told that one of the ones we looked at has a 8 week delivery! Just a warning for forumgazer!

Bella, we're going for tge iCandy cherry. It has that function but I think a fair few have. We just got ours from eBay because A) it saved us a packet and B) if I don't get on with it I'll feel less guilty about swapping later on. My only concern is that it may be too lightweight but I didn't want to get something too heavy to begin with and regret it. We originally planned on the oyster which a friend has and loves but really liked the Cherry too and it overtook in the end.

I think it's so hard to decide when really you could do with a having a test run for a month!

Am I right in thinking that it's meant to be bad luck to keep your pushchair at home before baby is safely born?

My mum said this today as my pram was delivered.

She said to put it in the garage but i'm worried about it getting damp or smelly so put it in the spare room.

Hi bcs, ooo exciting - your pram has been delivered! Have you had a play? Mum's are funny but I'm so daft I'll probably follow the advice. We're gonna ask mil to look after it as she has more room but still I can't imagine she'll be particularly chuffed! Is your spare room a real spare or a nursery to be?

I was undecided about finding out but my OH wanted to keep it a surprise so I think we'll remain team yellow:D Who knows though, we're known for being indecisive and changing our minds at the last moment:rotfl:

wow 8 weeks delivery time, it never occured to me there would could be a wait for delivery! I think we are going to narrow down the list of prams we're interested in and go see them all over the next week. I've found an independent store locally that stocks the icandy so we'll head there, and then to M&P's and mothercare for a nosy. Thanks for the heads up on the price, its weird the way icandy withold the pricing info as I imagine that would put a lot of people off. I've no idea on the difference between the peach and cherry tbh, I saw the peach in a magazine ad and loved it, so I need to research them a bit more thoroughly before I go look.

BCS, well done on getting your pram, what one did you get? I'll probably store the pram at either my parents or inlaws, and feel thoroughly silly for doing so, but I always seem to buy into stupid superstitions. I think you're right to keep it in the spare room rather than the garage though, means you can have a play with it whenever you want as well:D

Claire - I got my 20 week scan letter last week and it says to have a full bladder. Good luck!

Bella - prams are such a minefield. I've done loads of searching online but need to go and play with real ones in a shop. I just can't do it yet as feel like I'm pretending when I look at baby things in shops. In a pram shop I have to talk to a real live person and they'll believe me when I say I'm having a baby. I still don't believe me when I say I'm having a baby :o. I think there are guidelines about how long you should keep baby in a car seat as they're a bit cramped but I like the ones where the pushchair seat also works as a lie flat carrycot thing for newborns. Pramette is the name or them but the bugaboo bee and maxi cosi mura have ones where there is a soft carrycot/cocoon thing which fits onto the seat. So you get a pram without having to buy and store a great big carrycot.

Can anyone confirm what Braxton Hicks actually are? I understand they're 'fake' contractions that you can start to get around the 20 week mark onwards, but what do they feel like? I saw on am American forum that it's when the tummy hardens. If that is the case, I have had them for around 4 weeks now. But I thought it was the baby moving? It makes more sense for it to be baby moving, as it's often a specific area rather than whole tummy hardeing sort of thing, for me anyway.

my belly does that all the time. it goes so hard, like u say when baby moves.

i've had braxton hick's and imo they were worse than when i was in labour.

Tha pain was so strong it would take my breath away i woulnd't even be able to get a breath. i remember one night in bed they were so bad , i couldn't actually tell hubby what was going on so i was hitting him as i wasn't able to speak. it lasted for what seemed like hours, but in actual fact was only prob 30 sec to a min, then when it went it was like nothing had happened. then another one would come along. unlike contractions there is no pattern. well for me there wasn't. they were truely shocking. but then not everyone would experiance them to the extent of how i did.

i'm still feeling sad, but like someone said think of satuday how happy i was.

Not getting much chance to think tho which is good as my baby has been very sick. so not sure gonna get much sleep tonight. i'm feeling drained already. but then i've had 2 nights of hardly any sleep which hasn't helped.

Claire good luck for tomorrow - I remember being told a full bladder wasn't needed for 20 week scan as by then the uterus is much higher and can be seen easier. Can't hurt to sip on some water anyway, just don't be bursting for the loo!

Thanks for the info all on Braxton Hicks, seems they can appear anytime from roughly 20 weeks but maybe earlier, maybe later, maybe not at all. Some ladies have it worse than others, maybe I won't get them at all so who knows... I guess when tummy gets hard for now it *is* the baby moving about?

Pram wise we got the McLaren Techno XT as we can't afford the ones that cost alot - it was £165 and we got 10% cashback on Quidco I think. It lies flat so is suitable from birth to around 4 years, plus no need for a sun parasol etc as has a hood that comes right down. I liked that it is very well reviewed, not too heavy and we won't need to buy another for ages. Plus it works with the maxi cosi we were given, according to the lady that gave us itas she has a Techno XT too and it was on her recommendation we bought it.

I only need a sip of water before being bursting for a wee! I think I may struggle with the 20 wk scan!

Yes, i've been playing with it all day & set it all up ready. :o

The spare room will be a nursery it just needs furnishing & I can't wait to get my cot & set that up in there. :o

It weird that i'm so excited by everything considering i've done it 3 times before.

I guess I know it's my last time to be a mum & it has been 12 years since my daughter so it does kind of feel all new again.
