  • Hopelass that's a really great reason for not finding out gender!

I'm gonna find out just to be a bit more prepared in my head.

Hello All, can't remember if I've posted on here before (definitely did on the less than 12 weeks) and have been lurking since. I'm 16 weeks today. We didn't find out the sex of our first but this time I'm excited to find out at 20 week appt.
So my work trousers are getting uncomfortable so since its Spring I'm going for dresses at the moment. Maternity pants too big yet I think. Quite pleased as I went in a local charity shop on the way home and bought a nice dress from Next and a stretchy skirt from M&S. They'll do me for the in between stage along with a couple of dresses already in the wardrobe :) Like the dress that much I'll also wear it once I get figure back next year. Was only looking for a couple of bits to last 6 weeks or so- hence venturing into the charity shop. Might just be a convert lol.

My best pregnancy purchase of last time. I'm getting a new one soon. Price has gone up a bit but still worth every penny for the comfort at night from about 20 weeks til well after the birth.

People who sit in the seats on trains specifically for pregnant/elderly people and CAN CLEARLY SEE you are one of the above, yet refuse to move their lazy !!!!!! to let you sit down, suck in the biggest possible way.

    That is all.

Ask them when their baby is due since they are clearly not old :p

I usually find it is the older folks move to let me sit.. not that I go anywhere now.. but if I did I'd ask them to shift if there was nowhere else to sit. do the conductors not shift people?

I find it is men who are the most ignorant, particularly youngish/early 30's ones.

Maybe it's a selfish London mentality too.

I probably should say something, but I'm so hormonal right now I'd probably end up wanting to punch someone.

Think I'm just feeling sorry for myself this evening.

punching people is quite therapeutic ;)

I found people in London to be amongst the rudest I have ever met.. even worse than the cretins in The Arms here.. it is shameful to even think some are supposedly the same species as me!

Well if it's any consolation I am London born and bred, and possibly one of the politest people I know!

There is no way I'd sit in a seat on any public transport if somebody needed it more than me.

    Shameful.

Crickey I'm glad I haven't got your MIL Hopelass! I wouldn't find out either just to be stubborn :D

I was amazed when we told our parents - MIL said to DH, I can't believe you kept a secret from me - I was only 8 weeks pregnant, we'd only known for 3 weeks ourselves. Mind you he does tend to tell his Mum everything so perhaps she was just shocked he managed to keep his mouth shut lol.

Hope you feel a bit better soon nikki - I'm getting fed up of people saying sickness will go soon because of course you're never sick after 12 weeks (I'm 13+4) - my Mum was sick all the way through when pregnant with me so I'm not holding out much hope!

Glad the scan places in our area are quite reasonable, you can get an early scan or gender scan for between £50-£60. We've booked at a different place than we had our early scan (they were horrible and didn't make it feel special at all, came out feeling very deflated even though it was the first time we'd seen our baby), and this other place we're going end of May sounds lovely, and they don't charge a deposit either plus they do an antenatal class that is just one full day which sounds good - as DH works shifts he wouldn't be able to make a weekly one, so this sounds perfect for us :)
Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A

Lol!! Thanks lozza funnily enough though she did almost the same as your MIL. When we told her at 6 weeks (we found out at 4 weeks) she said "why didn't you tell me earlier? I knew anyway..." (!!!!!!!!) I didn't want to tell her until 12 weeks but OH wanted to as I told my mum before the stick was dry. :D

Also there would be much sulking if we had kept it from her any longer. As it was we had to lie and say my mum found out the same day *rolls eyes* I see a lot of jealous temper tantrums coming up. Luckily my mum is as chilled as anything and just won't make a fuss which just shows up MIL even more esp in OH's eyes; I think he's seeing another side to his mum!
First baby due October 2013 :j
