AFAIK as your contract ends, they don't have to offer you anything if the job is a year contract. But I'd ring ACAS and check.

If you leave, you'd get Maternity Allowance, if you take the zero hours then you'd SMP I believe, so you'd get the same money either way for now, it's just after that would obviously be affected.

Thanks, think I'll have to phone ACAS as I keep reading stuff online and getting conflicting answers. On the ACAS website it says not renewing a contract is the same as dismissal - and obviously they can't use pregnancy as a reason to dismiss me.

ETA - ACAS weren't much help! Basically it's my word against my employers that the reason for them not giving me a new 26 hour contract is my pregnancy. How am I meant to prove that?! It was always made clear to me, in passing conversations, that my contract would be renewed on the same T+C's, but now they've changed their tune coz I'm pregnant. Agh, what a PITA!

I think we have the same due date (17th Oct) - in our area we have a 21 week scan instead of 20 weeks so I have to wait until 6th June!

My scan's the same date - feels like AGES away doesn't it?!

I could really do without May and just skip straight to June haha!

On finding out the gender, we've been pretty indecisive.
But I said to OH last night, "I reckon we should find out that way we don't have to think of names for both" and suddenly he was saying "oh but wouldn't it be nice to have the surprise" so we're back to square one! :rotfl:

If we do find out, we won't tell anyone. I really do not like all the gender-specific clothes - especially girly girl clothes that are all pink and flowery dresses, and I know if some of our family find out it's a girl that's the kind of thing they'd buy us. I don't want to be ungrateful, but I really don't want to dress my girl all in pink!
Plus I'm not going to try to put a tiny girl baby in tights and a dress when there's perfectly good, and very cute, joggers and tshirts for boys!!

I hate the way the shops' baby departments are now 99% split boys and girls clothes, makes nice unisex so hard to find.

I don't really like the white and cream stuff much either though, cos it's just going to get filthy, so we're going to try to stick to fun, bright unisex colours - orange, green, yellow, red, etc!

Oh I'm so hard to please! :rotfl:

Hips are killing me today - I'm 15+1 is it time to start sleeping with a pillow between my knees??

hi ladies, thought it was about time i joined this thread since im now 13+4.

Had a bit of a bleed and lots of cramping the last few days so was in hospital this morning at the EPU getting checked over. Got a scan and a much closer look at our little bean, it was amazing being able to see it wriggling around on the screen, we got to see fingers and toes, even into the bladder and stomach.
Feeling so much more relaxed although they werent able to explain the bleeding.
Found out I have an anterior placenta so ill likely not be able to feel any movements for a while :(
20 week scan on 25th June...really feels like ages away.

We wont be finding out what we are having, its either going to be one or other, however in our hospital area they wont tell you and have signs up all round the hospital warning you not to ask. Private scans here for sexing are 40 miles from us and £140.....i dont think its worth it really, we'll be happy whichever we have.

    hope everyones feeling well :)

Its strange that each hospital is so different. I'm in Scotland (NHS Lothian) and our hospital actually give out a fact sheet telling you to ask if you want to know.

We're also lucky, gender scan is only £79 here.

Urgh violently ill today. Sucking on ice poles like they're going out of fashion. 20 weeks today, scan on Thursday.

Looks like we're bump buddies Nikki I'm 20 weeks today scan on Friday so excited :) we are finding out the gender, I'd love to have a suprise (don't know if I'd be able to resist if they asked me if I wanted to know though haha) OH and DS1 however are desperate to know so looks like I'm outnumbered.

Feeling not to bad just aching hips and back when I've walked to far or done to much but other than that pretty good.

    Xx

    Hi Ladies

Hope you are all well and not having too many aches and pains etc etc!

Not posted for a while but I have been reading! Couldn't resist adding my story about finding out the gender..........

As soon as MIL was told about us being pg she said well not long to wait until you find out what it is, I said we don't know if we are so she said "I can't wait that long!" So i just laughed it off....

Fast foward about 4 weeks, she was on the phone to OH, on speaker phone as he was doing something else and said deadly seriously "If you aren't going to find out what it is can you get the woman to write it down and put it in an envelope for me".

I was furious - OH asked why she needed to know and she whined "I just can't wait that long". OH explained that no, if we weren't finding out, noone was. She got quite huffy and we didn't hear from her then for about a week!! Effing tough, lady!!

There is no way on this planet we are finding out now just to spite her and her interferring ways. I couldn't believe she seriously thought we would tell her something about our first baby that we ourselves didn't know!

Anyway apparently it is becasue she is desparate for it to be a girl. She even told OH when he was younger that she was disappointed when he was born becasue she had wanted a girl!! Evil witch!

    *and breathe*

Sorry ladies, rant over now *slopes off sheepishly*

    Hugs to all in need....Hopelass 16 + 4

[STRIKE]We[/STRIKE] I thought about that but can't trust OH not to blurt it out. I am so determined she shouldn't know that I am quite happy to wait it out now! She doesn't know me that well and certainly doesn't know how stubborn I can be :D

Also if we pretended we knew and wouldn't tell we would have a 5 month strop on our hands - she is good for practising how to deal with a toddler I suppose.

Thanks nikki! I am also in Lothian and had been wondering if they would tell us or not. Are you at ERI or St.John's?
